Do you recommend buying a new xBox 360 or a refurbished (due to red ring of death, etc.). Thanks.

I say go new for that reason exactly. You wan the warranty and I think it was just a bad batch of machines that had this problem. I believe they fixed it on the newer production runs.

What type of warranty does the refurbished unit come with?
Does the refurb have an HDMI port?

What I heard was a major cause of RROD was inadequate cooling due to over-zealous cost cutting in design. I've heard that most refurb units have gotten beefier cooling added to them. If the refurb comes with the same warranty as a new unit, and has an HDMI port, I'd be tempted to go with it. It seems likely it'd have a shorter warranty and be an older model with only analog video out, though.

If you buy a refurb make sure it has the 175W powersupply. This will ensure that it has the latest "falcon" chip that runs cooler.
