Unless you're going with the 64-bit version of Vista (and are aware that there are some programs and devices that won't work on 64-bit) then there won't be much use in going with 4GB of memory. Because of the limits of 32-bit version of Windows, a system with 4GB of RAM will not be able to actually use all 4GB. The exact amount will depend on what other hardware is in the system, but it can vary from less than 2GB (rarely, in high end gaming systems) to a little more than 3.5GB. One thing you don't mention is what type of video this system has. Depending on what you plan to do with the system, that's a very important part to consider. Also, a Quad-core processor is overkill for most people. Even most gamers don't really need a quad-core processor, yet. There are some applications that benefit from quad cores, like video editing, 3D rendering and other high-end computer work.

Actually, the Dell description made no mention of the video sytem, I was wondering about this after reading it, the quad-core processor was in the description as well,I need to find out about the video sytem before purchasing.

I think that is a fantastic deal. I'm looking to get a new laptop soon myself and do a lot of video rendering with Sony Vegas. Did you find this on Dell's site? Thanks!

When shopping Dells site always look at their Small Business site (instead of Home). Their deals are generally as good if not better than home. Although their Ubuntu laptops were cheaper than Vista on Home, I found on their small business site my current Inspiron 1501 that had Vista on it, at a $50 discount from the Ubuntu price. Just a heads up.

It was a supplement to the Sunday Paper from Dell, I am a little concerned now about the video card, other than that it sounded like a great deal. Thank you all for your help!
