Good Monday Morning Everyone

Dee, thank you for starting us out this week

What a wonderful week-end we had around here. The weather was in the 70's on Sat. and upper 60's on Sunday. I love "Indian Summers"
Got my outside Christmas decorations put up yesterday. What a chore that was, to drag them all out of the attic, and put them outside. But at least I was'ent freezing doing it.
Hubby was mad that I did it before Thanksgiving, but I told him I did'ent plan on plugging them in or anything. Just had to take advantage of the warm spell we were haveing. Let him freeze when he puts the outside light on around the house. Foolish man
(I did'ent do that cause I'm afraid of heights)

Hi all! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Ours was good. Friday was R's 6th birthday. She invited her class over, plus a couple of other little girlfriends, so invited 19 kids over. 12 came, so it was a little chaotic here for about 1.5 hours Friday evening. We don't have a very big house. Thankfully it was beautiful Friday, so the kids could go outside for a while.

The funniest moment of the evening during the party was when R said "I wish KC were here." My 15yo, K, says "who?" R says "K.C." K say "she is sitting right next to you!" R said "Oh" and smiled. She hadn't seen her since this summer, and she had changed some since then. I asked R later who she thought that was next to her and she said "B's little sister.

Saturday and Sunday we got a lot of leaves raked and onto our garden. It was beautiful out so the kids had fun playing in the leaves. Sunday evening we had a little fire and roasted hot dogs and had s'mores. Yummy!

Good afternoon ladies! I was going to be so much better about posting in here this week, since things have calmed down a bit, yet I am just now making it in here . . . well, anyway, Dee, thanks for starting us off this week. The birthday party sound like it was a great success -- chaos can sometimes be fun . . . . That's too funny about R not knowing her friend! We expect that at my age, but not for the young'uns

Yes, we have had gorgeous weather here the last several days too, and the weekend was unbelievable! Last night's newscast from St. Louis showed some kids playing in a pool -- one last great pool party before winter -- but in November?? . . . they were having loads of fun . . . . the pool was heated, of course, even tho it was also outside.

Barb, I think that was a great idea to get the decorations up & ready to go. I used to freeze to death trying to get them up, and Bill was so not into that sort of thing that I finally gave up on it. Just too, too hard to do by myself. I just drive thru town and enjoy everyone else's

Bill got lots done outside this weekend, also. I helped some, but was still busy playing catch-up in here, mostly with my sewing. I did go out for a while both days and tried out our new leaf blower, tho. What a great idea!! Fun, too . . . last night I blew the leaves into the ditch between us and the neighbors land and burned them. The blower made such short work of what would have taken us both several hours, and horrible back-aches to complete. Well, I couldn't have helped much because even with gloves on the rake would have had my hands raw & bleeding. As it was, the smooth handle of the leaf blower rubbed them some, but not enough to make them split open.

Garrett was home from school today . . started the day off vomiting, so decided he better stay in. I'm thinking it was just some sort of sinus drainage tho, cuz he only did it early while he was trying to eat breakfast. But he was also very quiet and withdrawn . . didn't want anything to do with Bill's teasing, which he always loves. Then within an hour or so he'd perked up and was feeling quite good the rest of the day. He finally ate his breakfast around 10:00 without further incident, and had a PBJ & raisins after his nap -- well, after he laid down for a while . . he never went to sleep. He was so funny, though . . chattering up a storm, and when I'd go in and check he'd be standing on his head, bouncing -- having all sorts of fun He's actually been very good all day long. He's such an engaging little fellow. He just left . . the house seems eerily quiet

Yeah, our house is eerily quiet a lot more these days with R in school! At least I've quit thinking that she is just over there in the living room.

Barb, I missed seeing your post somehow this morning. I agree, it was a great idea to take care of the outside Christmas stuff while it is still nice out!

Leah, is your blower gas or electric? Hubby got an electric one for his birthday from his parents this summer. He was using it to blow leaves for a while this weekend.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

Dee, I remember them birthday parties for my kids. Some were hectic..but always fun just the same. Enjoy..they grow up way to fast.

Leah, I love the leaf blower. All the work gets done in half the time. Hubby even uses it when we get a dusting of fluffy snow. And it works wonderful to clean out the gutters and roof. I even use it to "sweep" the deck off. They sure are powerful.

Well we finished our quilting class last night. Just have to sew the boarder on my quilt and it's done. She wanted us to continue with another class. I told her I won't drive in the winter months but she said she could wait until this spring to start us out again. I think I will go. She is a good teacher, and she know's her quilts. During the winter I will try to remember what she taught me and make some table runners.
I may even try another quilt...

I bought a brand new quilt at the goodwill store. It was a king size tho. My bed is a queen size. So I will have to sew it in a bit. It hangs down on the sides and drags on the rug. Have to take it in about 3" on each side. That should be an intresting project
But the orig. price said $225 and I paid $65 for it. It's a rust, teal, pink and cream colors. I really love it. That will be my winter quilt..then I have a thinner one for the summer months.

Since I heard this morning about DS3 I've been thinking oh what if it was one of my sons? I would go into a deep deep funk. I am praying for you Maggie and hurting for you too. Know we love you and will continue to lift you up to the Lord.

How to console a grieving friend

In a true friendship, you are there for your friend through good times and bad, just like the promise made in marriage. There is no more difficult time in life than the grief of losing a loved one. During this time of bereavement, your friend will need you more than ever. Perhaps you don't quite know what to say to ease your friend's grief, but it often takes only a few sincere, heartfelt words of sympathy to express your feelings. There are also very helpful and practical ways to "be there" for your friend during this time of bereavement. Your friend is struggling to accept that a loved one has died; the bereaved may also include your friend's spouse, children, or other family members.

It's important to be a good listener

I told my daughter about DS3 and she was very sorry this occurred and then proceeded to tell me her dad, my husband, told her he is going to purchase a prepayment plan for cremation. It seems his health has deteriorated enough, he's hurting so much, he feels it's time to do this.

We really hope he'll last long enough to be there for our youngest son's high school graduation.

Still don't have a will, nor a letter to the mortgage company giving me permission to talk to them if something should happen to him (I am not on the mortgage) and no funeral plans yet. I really do need to get the car mom gave me titled in my name as that hasn't been done yet either.

I did not know about Maggie's son until I got onto Facebook tonight. When I was here this afternoon I was doing a quick pass through. I'm sorry if anyone thought I was being insensitive. I gave Maggie my love on Facebook, but I want to say it here too. My heart goes out to you and you will be in my prayers.

It is wonderful to have so many friends from the internet and it's like a big family to me. The frustrating thing is not being able to physically be there when one of the "family" hurts. I wish I could wrap my arms around you and give you a loving hug. May God comfort you and your family. Love you!!!!!!!

Oh Momma-Mo, I knew you weren't being insensitive! I knew you just had not read, and I didn't want to repeat it.

Yes, Barb, I have talked with Maggie, and she is doing surprisingly well. She says to tell all of you thank you for all your prayers . . they are being felt, and are much appreciated. They have had tons of people at the house most of the day . . church friends bringing in lots of food, giving love & support. Her faith is very, very strong, and she knows her son is in a better place now. Her facebook post was amazing. Even with all that, I doubt the full impact has hit her yet. It's important that we continue our prayers for her in the coming weeks & months. Grieving takes time, and it takes a toll on one's body.

Good Thur. Morning Everyone

I was'ent sure if I should post today..
With respect to our Maggi,e and all that poor women is going thru. But I don't think she would want us to loose contact with each other...so I decided to bring us up to the top of the page again. I can do that and still send my prayers up for her and her family. So here goes...

Weather wise we are still in our "Indian Summer" at my parts. Altho I hav'ent been enjoying the outdoors like I should be. But there is'ent much to do outside anymore. Got the yard all "winterized" But I do need to sweep out the garage again. And I wanted to plug in my outside Christmas decorations to check them all. Did'ent do that when I took them out there. Sure hope they all light up.
So I think I will take the two little ones outside this afternoon and do them chore's. Gives them a chance to run around also.

I got a visit from my daughter, Brandi and Isabelle and Ilyssa yesterday. That was nice. I was holding Ilyssa and she keptlooking at my black and white sweatshirt. Guess she is starting to focus on certain things now. I even got a smile out of her while she was looking at me. What a darling baby.
Then Tommy,Ethan and Brett came to visit last night. Brett just started shakeing his head yes..so everything I said to him he would shake his little head yes to. Funny little boy. He always has to have some of my applesauce when he visit's.

Hi Barb . . yes, I don't think Maggie would want us to neglect our time here with each other -- there is strength in numbers, and speaking of her here reminds us all to continue to pray for her.

It's beautiful Indian summer weather here, also. I'm in & out a lot, but not exactly out there enjoying it like I should be.

Bill has finally set his retirement date . . Jan. 1st -- that is IF his application is approved in time to get a check by then. His employer is being very good to him, allowing him to work 3 days a week, and offering him as much as he can legally make while drawing SS. That turns out to be a bit of a raise for him if he only puts in 8 hours a day, but knowing Bill he will do a lot of working 'off the clock' just cuz that's how he does things. He will be on salary, so that will be allowed . . . they've also offered him the continued use of their vehicle, which is a great savings for us. He's decided he wants to sell the truck we bought last spring. I'm not sure I like that idea, but it's not my decision.

I've gotten several new sewing orders in this week, so will be moving to the sewing room shortly to get started on that.

I got my quilt done

It's just a small "sampler" quilt..."37x37"..but it looks great on the backside of my loveseat just the same. This spring I want to take the next class and make a bigger quilt.

Today my mom would have been 70 years old. I took a red rose and placed it on her gave. Her husband was up there when I got there. I made my visit short to give him time alone. He was crying and I did'ent want to intrude on his grief. He is still distant with us and that's ok. I patted his back and left. Mom would'ent have been to pleased to turn 70 anyways...she liked her youthfulness.
