I saw this thread on a different forum and the responces were hilarious...so, what do YOU think is the scariest game?

My dad played HalfLife when I was probably 8 or 9, and that huge green monster that had tentacles with claw thingys on the ends always scared me to death.

The F.E.A.R. series takes the cake for me. The suspense in that game is unbelievable. Only game to make me physically jump in my chair.

hahaha that scared me too. I was a bit older than you when i played it but man! Granted when you are little you don't get how games work so it wasn't obvious that you were supposed to move slowly so it was pretty scary not knowing if its about to kill you.

And uhm for me I haven't played many, I played doom 3 which must be the scariest one I've played. Not scary like the half life green monster which oneshotted you with a mistake, more like psychologically/mentally scary.

When Doom 3 first came out, I played it after hours at the office... after everyone had left, and all the lights were out.

I had to stop playing it like that because if was seriously creeping me out.

The audio really made Dead Space. There's a pseudo-random whisper track running in the background in a lot of places that's just unbelievably creepy. There's also a spot in one of the levels where nothing is going on - nobody's attacking you, but the lights are blinking and this ungodly screeching noise is blaring away. I knew how they made that ahead of time and it still freaked me out.

I think the "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" level of Half-Life 2 is pretty scary. But I hear that FEAR is really scary.
