Dead Space was probably the scariest I have played in recent memory.

My dad played HalfLife when I was probably 8 or 9, and that huge green monster that had tentacles with claw thingys on the ends always scared me to death. hahaha that scared me too. I was a bit older than you when i played it but man! Granted when you are little you don't get how games work so it wasn't obvious that you were supposed to move slowly so it was pretty scary not knowing if its about to kill you. And uhm for me I haven't played many, I played doom 3 which must be the scariest one I've played. Not scary like the half life green monster which oneshotted you with a mistake, more like psychologically/mentally scary.

ORIGINAL: SteveSund Dead Space was probably the scariest I have played in recent memory. The audio really made Dead Space. There's a pseudo-random whisper track running in the background in a lot of places that's just unbelievably creepy. There's also a spot in one of the levels where nothing is going on - nobody's attacking you, but the lights are blinking and this ungodly screeching noise is blaring away. I knew how they made that ahead of time and it still freaked me out. -Dan.

I think the "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" level of Half-Life 2 is pretty scary. But I hear that FEAR is really scary.
