I am not supposed to say where he's flying, generally. Reminds me of a friend who works in intelligence; people are always getting excited about her career when they meet her at parties. They'll say, "Ooooh, if you told me what exactly you do, would you have to kill me?" She just rolls her eyes and says "no... I just can't tell you." I guess official secrets aren't that exciting; just important to be kept secret. quote:
Quick prayer request for my hubby, he's having sinus surgery tomorrow. It's outpatient, but still... BIL is dropping him off, and I'm picking him up with the kids in tow. Should be interesting. Praying for you too while I'm at it... my DH had outpatient surgery Thursday and I'm just wiped out trying to take care of him and keep up with chores.

Kath, welcome back! Are you feeling better? ------------------------------------------------ Speaking of checks, sigh, I think a friend may have inadvertantly lost a check of mine. On my trip I was house guest to 4 people(well, sort of, we never stayed the night at her mom's, but we were there a lot, and ate there a few times, she had coffee ready for me a few times, and she graciously loaned us her car a lot). I sent Thank you notes with checks. My friend's mom got her card and check a while back. I kept asking my friend if she had gotten hers and she kept saying no. She checked the mail today, and still no card from me. I was starting to worry it got lost in the mail. Then she finally admitted to me today, that if she looks at a pile of mail, and it all looks like junk mail, she'll just throw it away, without going through the pile and looking at each piece of mail. So, my guess is, she threw my card away. . She does have a mental illness, so I can't really get mad her, but although I knew some of the affects of her illness, it never occured to me that she didn't sort mail. If I had known this would happen I would have sent her card to her mom's house (they live only about 2 or 3 miles apart). Now, I don't know what to do. Do I need to call the bank? And should I write another check?

Ok, thanks Harvie. I think I will send the new card to her MOM'S and tell her mom what to look for. Can you do a stop pay by phone?

You can stop it online or call the bank and they can do it. There is usually a fee to stop a check, so it depends on the amount of the check. My bank charges 25.00.

$25.00???? yikes! I guess I have to do what I have to do. I don't mind sending her another check, but I do mind having a fee because she wouldn't sort her mail (she said it was too overwhelming, I said, well, put all your mail in a basket, and take out one piece whenever you go by, and deal with that one piece). Now she just told me on the phone not to send another check because she was going to send the same amount for my birthday and we can call it even. I wanted to send her $, though, becuase I DID use her food, and I DID use her utilities.

Mine's Chase. Credit unions are more lenient. You can ask if they'll waive it because it was lost. They might as a courtesy.
