I know some ppl take the bus to save on gas, but I think I'd only do it if it were my only choice (if I had no car/ride). Some people I see on buses and at the stops around here look dangerous, and half the time the stops are in the crime-ridden areas where you just get shot outside for no reason. I know a lot of poorer single moms have to ride area buses...I hope they have some kind of defense, for IF something happens. A lot of them live in the projects I think, and that by itself is dangerous enough 'round here.
