The Fox News Channel is viewed by Americans in more ideological terms than other television news networks. And while the public is evenly divided in its view of hosts of cable news programs having strong political opinions, more Fox News viewers see this as a good thing than as a bad thing.
Nearly half of Americans (47%) say they think of Fox News as “mostly conservative,” 14% say it is “mostly liberal,” and 24% say it is “neither in particular.” Opinion about the ideological orientation of other TV news outlets is more mixed: while many view CNN and the three broadcast networks as mostly liberal, about the same percentages say they are neither in particular. However, somewhat more say MSNBC is mostly liberal than say it is neither in particular, by 36% to 27%.

I can't believe nearly 47% of Americans actually 'think' at all....
Especially when it comes to any 'news' outlets they may digest...

I think some of the 14% must be the ultra-conservative right. I know there are some who think people like Beck and O'Reilly aren't true conservatives. The rest probably never watch it.

Oh, well let's see, Fox has been hammered throughout it's 16 year history with accusations of conservative bias...is it any wonder that most Americans would automatically start agreeing with it given time?
I have friends who would agree with the assessment, but also tell you that they've never actually watched the channel. They just "heard it was conservative"....

I would suggest that the problem in labeling the news frequently comes from the confusion between "news" and "commentators." Most criticisms of Fox seem to center around critiques of comments made by O'Reilly, Beck, Coulter, etc. Liberal accusations in the other direction target the Olberman's of the world, while both sides ought to stop and spot the difference. A commentator is an entertainer, out for ratings, giving their opinions. No respectable journalist should be doing that, and that's not a slam on them because to the best of my knowledge none of the bill themselves as journalists. Their role is to analyze the news ans give a viewpoint, at which point I would say Fox definitely leans conservative in their commentators. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the tactics on Fox, but I'll watch their news portion from time to time.
What gets me is misreporting material, and it's not like any news agency is winning awards right now for perfect accuracy.

Couric, Williams, Blitzer, and Gibson are true anchors, yet their liberal slant is more than obivous.

You should watch last night's Daily Show. The first segment completely demolishes Fox's claim that its only their commentators that are politically biased. (I probably can't provide the link here but just go to their web site and you will find it easily enough.)

I get a kick out of both the Daily Show and the Cobert Report, but apparently the irony of using Stewart to prove a point is missing on some people. Or the Irony that studies have shown there is just as much news on the Daily Show as there is on other news shows, (what does that say about bias across the media spectrum). link
Oh and did you notice that all the news stations at the beginning of the clip from Fox, to CNN were referring to it as a 'war on fox.' In other words its not just fox talking about the war on them.

I just know I miss being able to watch Fox News. I can check out the website if I want but don't do it as much as I used to. I liked to check them out and then visit Al Jazeera's site.

The older I get the more I wonder what is intentionally left out of the news to cause a slant either to the left or right. Or worse not reported at all.

What is the left's opinion of the presidents obvious bias against Fox News?
Why, in your opinion, do more people watch Fox news than any other?
When I was a liberal I did not see any slant in Walter Cronkite.
