My youngest HAD asthma when she was youger-but hasn't had one episode in over 2.5 yrs. Doc thinks she is thankfully outgrowing it. she used to need a nebulizer whenever she had a cold-cant remember last time we even used it. We havent' been able to get the seasonal flu vaccine for them as their doc ran out-H1N1 vaccine is next to impossible to find.
Even keeping them out of school is no guarantee-if their friends get it they are likely to get it too. Can't keep them i a bubble I guess. Been giving them fresh oranges every day, and they always take a multi anyway...not much more you can do...
Just found out this morning another coworker is out with it....
I wonder if the whole dept is going to get it.
I'm off next few days.....I can observe from afar.

My dance partner, his family and I had a seasonal flu shots after Labor Day, and got H1N1 shots two weeks ago for a competition out of the country. I applied for a waiver for the H1N1 early inoculations through the NY State Health Department.

Yes, most of the cases that I know of are elementary children who have fought it off.

Not yet. I'm going to the local school this evening to get a ticket guaranteeing a shot tomorrow. I know the kids can get the shot but am uncertain if I can. My dh has a form of colitis that may put him in the high priority group. I, on the other hand, don't have any medical conditions that will allow me to get the shot. I will see tonight what happens.

It's hit, I had it, Thing 1 had it, and we aren't vaccinating.

Honestly, it has, but only a little bit. It is more frequent back where my family is (in wisconsin) that it is here.

Yes it has hit, I work in a inner city shelter we have 2 confirmed cases in our residences and one in the staff. Am I worried? slighly Did I get the shot? Yes becasue my mother asked me too (she is a worry wart). However, My employer strongly encouraged us to get it, even going so far to tell us that they were even considering putting those staff who refused to get the shot on a unpaid leave of absense until the flu season was over. They have since gone with a less harsh mandate. Those who refuse the shot MUST wear a mask with face sheild whenever in contact with a client.
