Did you know that the carved pumpkin started
out as the carved turnip?..............

Heard that last night some where.

May have been from a radish snitch.

My not so bright friend would probably believe that. This same friend would talk louder to people who did not speak english very well. I always wanted to tell her that they were not deaf they just did not speak English. So yelling English at them really did not help They still did not understand it.

Back to the question of the OP - ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I shouldn't even have to explain why not. But then again, every church I know has an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, and a Christmas Tree in their foyer on those Holidays. Christians have gotten such a blinded eye against pure and obvious evil.

What, specifically, is purely and obviously evil about my wife and I handing out candy to children?

She is enabling poor eatting habits of course.

There is an interesting show about the history of Halloween on the History Channel. The mention that the pilgrims came over here and didn't want to celebrate halloween (as they understood it then) because it was too catholic.

Much of this fear of Halloween is putting the cart before the horse. I do not thing that Halloween has a great impact on ones point of view. I would suggest that how one approaches Halloween is dependant on an already established view point. It is more a result than a cause.

That part isn't evil..it's being post 666 on a Halloween thread that's getting you in trouble.

Honestly, to some Christians, no matter how it is presented - trick or treating (or church alternatives) is still honoring the practice of appeasing evil spirits by offering bribes (or even sacrifices if you really want to push it, but I don't think most would see it that way)

Hee-hee-hee! Love it!

But I wonder what makes people think that we who do not practice halloween are fearful of it?

I don't think you're fearful, just making an decision based on your own personal convictions, which is great.

The problem I have is that too many on the anti-Halloween side aren't willing to extend the same courtesy to the rest of us.

Oddly enough, I look outside today and I don't see a day given over to demons or evil, I see another great day that the Lord has made, one that I will celebrate with my children by roaming our neighborhood with friends and neighbors tonight....

I need some feedback. I do not celebrate or condone halloween, ut will give out candy and say bless you to the kids. My mother thinks it's great with demons and goblins and doesn't see the harm in it. I said I do not condone evil. We got into a fight over it. She called me a nut. I I don't think I am being a nut, but this is my value and belief and I am standing by it. Was I wrong? like I said, I will give out candy but made it known I do not condone the evil connotation of it.

With respect, what does it matter what your mother thinks, so long as you are happy/comfortable/feel right with God about what you do?

You're an adult (and then some), so why are you bothered by her thinking you're a nut?

Don't worry about your mom ... most people think I'm a nut.
