His, That is a good report. I'm glad you are being blessed and will continue to pray that your faith will be built. I posted a new thread in the parenting folder about developmental eye exams. Mr. Manly had one and it was revealed that he has problems with his eyes working together and this is likely the main problem he is having with reading. The thread is called Reading and Vision.

My grandmother passed away this morning. She is with Jesus now. I am thankful that we will see her again, but will miss her a lot. This will mean a lot of changes for my extended family, as her home was the focal point of family life. I am wondering when I am going to see some of my relatives now. Grandma has had the Thanksgiving celebration at her house for 45 years straight. Last year there were over 40 people there. I cannot imagine how small it will be to have Thanksgiving with only the six of us. My husband said he has spent more Thanksgiving at my grandmother's than he has with his own family. Hopefully we will still have Thanksgiving there this year since my aunt and uncle will be living there for a while. It would be good for us all to be together this year.

Thanks everyone. Yes, grandparents can be a tremendous blessing. I am thankful that I have had such loving grandparents both on my side of the family and my husband's maternal grandparents were also wonderful. I spoke to my cousin about Thanksgiving and she said she thought that would be a great idea. Her parents will be living in my grandmother's house for a few more months, so it could work well. They moved in during the summer to care for Grandma.

Cynthia--so sorry to hear about your grandma. Grandma's are special! Roller coaster day here... I injured my leg last week. I went for a massage yesterday and the MT was certain I had a stress fracture. Uh oh... three weeks until my marathon! My doctor was booked today but agreed to work me in. He went over every inch of the bone. He doesn't think it's broken. He thinks it's soft tissue. He told me to go ahead with the 20 mile run on Saturday! Within 24hrs, I went from a most likely DNS (did not start) to a green light to race! If everything goes right, I should qualify for Boston.

I carved pumpkins with some friends yesterday. It's wonderful how many pumpkins and apple cider $20 will give you! I roasted the seeds too =] My first time and I think they turned out pretty darn well. I tossed them in a little olive oil, some sea salt. I want to try some more but with butter, sugar, and cinnamon =]

Still don't have a functional shower. Substitute "taught" for one of the discovery center teachers this afternoon. One period the kid did his own thing. THen later I helped a boy convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and back and then decimals to fractions and back.

What is it about doing dishes?! Just do it and get it overwith! The longer you stall, the more dishes there are to do! I've been working on that with dh for 21yrs now........... Still doing a lot of thinking. I have the CD that the RD sent me in my van and have been listening to it. Starting to think about maybe finding a new church. But, not until after my race. But at least I'm making progress??? I went to the fabric store this afternoon. I had dropped my van off at the oil change place and they said it would be at least an hour. I needed more fabric for the baby quilt I'm making. Then, since they were only on #1 and I had #14, I had a wait to get my fabric cut. Do not leave me unattended in a fabric store... I ended up with some fabric to make Benny the hound a bandana. It has signs that say "Watch Dog on Duty!" and "Beware of the Dog!". Uh, yah, Benny would be my little beagle.

I thought you good folks would get a kick out of this. I don't home school (eldest is only 2), but I know all the laws in my state. I struck up a conversation with a lady at the bookstore, and she said she was thinking about homeschooling, and she asked me how to become "certified" to HS. I started filling her in, when another mom, who actually is HSing, walked by and joined in with her knowledge. A young lady who worked at the bookstore joined in and said she'd been HS'ed from K-8th grade and added her experience. I'm thinking the lady I first started talking to got more info then she bargained for.
