I Was Too Busy

The Lord Christ wanted a tongue one day
To speak a message of cheer
To a heart that was weary and worn and sad,
And weighed with a mighty fear.
He asked me for mine, but ‘twas busy quite
With my own affairs from morn till night.

The Lord Christ wanted a hand one day
To do a loving deed;
He wanted two feet, on an errand for Him
To run with gladsome speed.
But I had need of my own that day;
To his gentle beseeching I answered, “Nay!”

So all that day I used my tongue,
My hands, and my feet as I chose;
I said some hasty, bitter words
That hurt one heart, God knows.
I busied my hands with worthless play,
And my willful feet went a crooked way.

And the dear Lord Christ, was His work undone
For lack of a willing heart?
Only through men does He speak to men?
Dumb must He be apart?
I do not know, but I wish today
I had let the Lord Christ have His way.

I talked to my daughter what Trish said and my daughter said she and J, her son pray for protection all the time for her house. She also said that it is very possible he is sensitive as she is and I am sensitive to spiritual stuff. We are sensitive people.

I'm very spiritually sensitive too. At first I didn't know it, until John and Joan pointed it out to me.

I like the song you linked to.

As for spiritual maturity, you have been growing much in the last few years. There are many who don't have the spiritual maturity you have.

I've been up since 1 am. I know. I know. Why in the world did I get up so early? I woke up around 1 am because I slept too much during the day really a bad habit of mine but I'm fixing it. I have officially volunteered to work at a local volunteer place where people are helped. I will be inputting information into the computer, taking applications, answering the phone, etc. And since they do a lot during the Holidays I can work everyday if I wish. It will be good for me.

Plus my mom may come for Thanksgiving. There is plenty I need to do to prepare for her visit. One of the bedrooms need a total fix. It has been used as a shove-it room, you know the kind, a place where you shove everything you don't know where to put things. Then my bedroom needs cleaning. The bed frame broke and needs to be taken apart and hauled out to the trash. My clothes need going through. I've gained weight and I need to put away the clothes that don't fit anymore. And of course dusting.

The carpet needs a good cleaning. Don't know if a steam cleaner will be enough to get all the stains out of that carpet but I could try.

And the kitchen needs to be washed thoroughly, all the walls, the cabinets. The oven cleaned. The frig cleaned. The insides of the cabinets cleaned out and stuff thrown out or given away.

There really is a lot of work to be done. Guess I best get busy. Sigh.....I really must stop sleeping during the day.

Prayers please!

My grandson goes to his dad's house this weekend. He's afraid. Says it's scary there.

It's funny in a way. The poem I posted is exactly what my pastor preached about but I didn't know about it until after I posted the poem. And after I volunteered at the local help place. His sermon this past week I missed because I've been missing church but I listen to it later on the church's website.

It was all about being helpers and helping people being available for them and letting God serve through us. How about that? Coincidence or what?

I'm still reeling from his sermon on laziness, sluggard and sloth. Know for a fact I have to push myself to get anything done around my home. I have a goal to push for now though with mom coming for Thanksgiving. She hates clutter and any kind of dust or dirt. Will do my best to get things in order before she comes so we can enjoy our visit. This will be the first visit since dad died. She is going to stay at my daughter's house. I don't have a guest room.

The Armor of God by Charles Stanley

Listen to this. I promise you won't regret it. His challenge is put on the armor each and every morning. Have you put on your armor today?

You might find this a laughable question, but would your family help you with cleaning?

Thanks Edith.

I found some good scriptures for him.

Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the defense of my life. Whom shall I dread?

Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid. I will put my trust in You.

Proverbs 3:24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

I wrote them down on postee notes and read them to him this morning. He talked about how Jesus is his defender and he's powerful and I said yes. Then I put the notes into his backpack.

It might be an idea to ask them anyway. You could let them all know that you need help and then give specific suggestions on ways they could. They might surprise you. Then, again, pigs might fly, but you never know till you throw them up in the air and watch to see how they come down (if they ever do--if I could fly, I might not).

True. There's no harm in asking.

Hi Ginny, my pastor preached on forgiveness today. This seems to be a very common theme with him. I am still learning to forgive but getting much better at it these days though.

Forgiveness can be very, very, very, very hard--especially when the person keeps offending over and over and over again.

My pastor's messages can be found here.

He spoke about anger this Sunday. Guess that ties in with forgiveness. Have to overcome the anger of the incident before forgiveness can settle in. I know I get indignant when my husband insults me and feel anger before I feel any sort of forgiveness for him. And I know he feels indignant and angry with me when I've not done any housework before he feels forgiveness towards me. Good thing we both love one another because the forgiveness does come.

Take care Mike. How is your dad doing?

Forgiveness can be very difficult. It's an issue that I deal with a lot, especially where particular people are concerned. I choose to forgive, and then I find a little while later that I'm getting upset again, then I have to forgive again. Sometimes it's not that we haven't forgiven, it's that we need to forgive at a deeper level. I have to keep asking the Lord to help me forgive. There's times when I feel I don't want to forgive, but I know that's what the Lord wants me to do.

It's not just a matter of forgiving others. I know there are things that I have to forgive myself for, and strange as it sounds, I need to forgive God. He hasn't done anything wrong, but I can't help feeling that He has.

So forgiveness is something that I am working on.

Tacos for supper tonight. Not bad. Hubby didn't eat. Daughter came by the house to drop off our grandson and she ate one taco. Grandson refused to eat tacos so he had cereal instead. Oldest son and granddaughter decided to go to the Pizza Hut. Kids free tonight. I had two tacos then put the rest into the frig. Guess taco night will come again soon.

Babysitting my grandson again. This babysitting gig is becoming a regular thing. It was nice this evening. I picked him up from the bus and after a while we went to my house where I gave him some pizza still hungry so I gave him some leftover tacos still hungry so I gave him some hot dogs. Would you believe he complained later he was still hungry?

Fed my husband what he wanted which was hot dogs cut up into the leftover taco meat with tomatoes and salsa.

Hubby wasn't feeling well so he went to bed after supper. J and I cuddled up together and watched cartoons until 8 then I brought him home. We told stories where we cuddled up together again. I told one and then he told one. He went to bed without a problem. I think he likes me babysitting. I know he definitely likes sleeping in his own bed and waking up in his own house.

If this keeps up our bonding will be quite close. Wish I knew how to do that with my teenager. I'm at a loss on how to get closer to him and connect better. I know FOOD....I need to feed him more.

Gettin' Routey

Sitting on the side of the road waiting to catch speeding drivers, a state trooper sees a car puttering along at 22 mph. He thinks to himself, "This driver is as dangerous as a speeder!"

So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over. Approaching he car, he notices that there are five elderly ladies - two in the front seat and three in the back, wide-eyed and white as ghosts.

The driver, obviously confused, says to him, "Officer, I don't understand. I was going the exact speed limit. What seems to be the problem?" the trooper trying to contain a chuckle, explains to her that 22 was the route number, not the speed limit.
A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her error. "But before you go, Ma'am, I have to ask, is everyone in this car OK? "These women seem awfully shaken."

"Oh, they'll be all right in a minute, officer.

We just got off Route 127."
