Life is too short for depression I think I'll read a book instead.

I wish were an angel who could swoop down and lift you up in to a place of perfect beauty with mirrors. I would take you to the mirror, have you look at yourself, and tell you gently, "This is not the Ginny I know. Let me show her to you." ...
What I wanted to say after reading that post of yours, Abiyah, is, "Can you come and do it to me when you're finished with Ginny?"

Ginny, listen to Abiyah and her posts. She speaks truth and wisdom.

Hi, Ginny, I tried the Facebook links but on the last two it warned me not to enter my log-in unless it was the real FB and it didn't look like it! I didn't want to do it because some people's pages have been hacked.

I just found your thread. It is very heartfelt and I love your openness in the posts I've read, and how that has encouraged others to open up. I will read some more another time as I have to go now.

Welcome to my thread His Joy.

The Power of Friendship is a heartwarming story with the biggest impact at the end of the story. Read it all and you will see why.

I got up at 3 am, fixed myself some French Toast and coffee and read a book until I could call my daughter and ask if I could come over to use her computer. Come to find out she stayed up all night and I could have gone over a lot sooner.

HOLY SPIRIT
by Stan Arney

What is the Holy Spirit and how does it affect me
Is it something I can hear, touch, taste, smell or see
How do I know of its’ existence, is it even real
I just want to know if it is something I can feel

The Holy Spirit is the helper that Jesus has sent
To those who accept Christ as Savior and repent
The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in your heart with your soul
It fills a place that has long been empty and makes you whole

When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior
Many life-altering changes will quickly occur
You will have a desire to do what God asks of you
An overwhelming feeling of peace will consume you

As you study His Word, even more will be revealed
He will provide you with protection, your armor and shield
God will also empower you to complete His task
If you have any questions, simply turn to Him and ask

You will have to submit your life to God, which may seem tough
Don’t be afraid to let God know if you have had enough
God will never give you more than He knows you can bear
He cheers with you in triumph and hurts with you in despair

The Holy Spirit is your guide, but also your conscience
Follow God’s statutes and commandments with self-confidence
This means sharing God’s promise of salvation with the Lost
With help from the Holy Spirit they received at Pentecost

The Holy Spirit affects all senses and it is real
And since you have accepted Christ, it is something you can feel
May you abide in Jesus and Jesus abide in you
Through the Holy Spirit there is nothing you cannot do.

The Other Poems
Holy, Holy Spirit

Holy, Holy Spirit, I have quenched your flame.
I received you, but I grieved you
when conviction came.

Holy, Holy Spirit, whom I have despised,
Jesus sent you and He meant you
when He prophesied

that He would send the Holy Spirit
showing me the way
and leading me into the truth,
the truth I disobey,
revealing life and liberty
that I have shoved away.

Holy, Holy Spirit, present in my heart,
I repent of grieving your love.
Please do not depart.

Holy, Holy Spirit, when I hear your voice,
confirmation of salvation
makes my heart rejoice!

First of all I do not consider the Holy Spirit an 'It'. He is a person and part of the Trinity. I like the second poem much better than the first one even though there is some truth in the first one.

Is it the Holy Spirit's work in me that causes me to cry when I am convicted about something? Is it the Holy Spirit's work in me that makes me long to love God with all my mind, my heart and my soul and his work that builds in me the strength to keep trying to follow God? Why don't I just give up? I can't. Sometimes the task seems impossible but still I must keep trying. How can I not?

Ginny, yes it is the Holy Spirit who convicts, and causes you to yearn for God.

Why don't you just give up? That's a matter of your will. It's up to you to totally surrender to God in all areas of your life. (I know, easier said than done). God's given us all free will to choose. That includes how much of our lives we offer to God, how devoted we are to Him etc. If you don't feel comfortable right now in totally surrendering, ask God to help you to be more willing.

I don't either. I believe He has a distinct personality too. Just like the Father and the Son do. Thanks for sharing the poems I liked them.

Thanks for the welcome, Ginny! BTW, you can call me Joy!

On giving up, we are transformed when our mind is renewed (Rom. 12:1) and our will follows what our mind tells it! God renews our minds when we read and learn the Scriptures and search after the things of God. You are being renewed, Ginny! And look at Ps. 139 and say, "That's me!" Because it is!

Yes, I agree, the Holy Spirit is a person!

YES!!!

That's a gift from the Holy Spirit.

My uniform during the late 60's was embroidered jeans and psychedelic shirts. Barefoot of course. And braided hair. Oh I do remember my hot pink hot pants too. I wasn't raised in a Christian home so mom and dad didn't tell me hot pants weren't what a good girl should wear. I didn't understand modesty till I got to college and got involved in Navigators.

Navigator's College Ministry

They bought me my first bible that I opened up and read. It was an American Standard Bible. I remember my college roommate left to room with someone else and I spent the lonely times reading scripture and becoming familiar with the bible. I did not read the bible from front to back I read hit and miss and didn't realize there was another method and way to delve into the scripture.

I did use what I read to apply it towards my life and made life decisions based on what I had read. It would have been good for me if I had stayed in college pass my first two years and stayed in Navigators but I made the choice to drop out and it was during this drop out time I met and married my husband.

He said he wanted a godly home but changed his mind once we were married so we've been unequally yoked even though he believes in God and is baptized. He raised our kids to see the world and its views and has never opened the bible to see what it says. When I've tried to share from my reading of the bible I would be mocked.

And yet I can say I am not like the Proverbs lady who had it all together god wise. I've tried but I really did need more years of discipleship and an evenly yoked marriage. The pull to go worldly has been hard on me and the sins of bitterness didn't help but hindered my relationship and growth spiritually.

Abiyah, I hope you'll read this. Your post was hard for me to read and I know why now after listening to the video God's Chisel. I think and see myself as junk, as a mess, as someone who is a mix up and those inward thoughts made it hard for me to accept the beautiful way you posted to me.

Ginny, you explained this beautifully. Hearing good things about ourselves can be verrrry scary. They often make me want to run and hide and to cry forever.

I really enjoyed the "LOVE" video too. The cleansing power of God's love and grace. Running water and waterfalls are so beautiful. Thank you, Ginny.

Thank you Maggie and Edith. Thank you for the feedback and understanding what I was trying to say.

I did something stupid last night. I sinned and knew what I was doing was sin and did it anyway. Then I thought how can God forgive me for commiting a sin I knew beforehand was sin. I mean we sin so easily, all of us, but most sin is unwittingly done. My prayer is Jesus is faithful and just and because he is I can ask and I did ask for forgiveness and then he'll forgive me not because I deserved it but because of who HE IS and not only forgive me but He will also cleanse me.

I think about what Jesus said to the disciple Peter about cleansing his feet that if he does not clean him then he won't be clean and I think on how it is the righteousness of Jesus that gives us righteousness. I don't understand the Old Testament righteousness or how Job could say he was an upright and righteousness man and without fault before the Lord as I see all of us sinning and that would include Job.

I think it must have been that in the Old Testament righteousness was defined differently. Jesus is the one who added to the law in saying that not only must we obey the law we must think right too. That our thoughts can lead to sin in how we think. Whew!

I understand the Spiritual Armor, the breastplate of righteousness is the righteousness of Christ. It is a gift and cannot be earned. It protects our chest which is where our heart is.

I really enjoyed that post Ginny. Yes, it's only through Jesus that we are made righteous in God's sight.

We have so much to thank Him for.

I love your attitude after the fact, Ginny. You're not beating yourself up but recognizing the healing and cleansing power of Jesus and claiming that for yourself. Awesome! I'm sure you're putting things into place to ensure it doesn't happen again. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Yes Maggie, that particular sin won't happen again. However, laziness and sloth well those are sins that have me by the barrel. I find it very difficult to be an active person. Sure need the Lord's cleansing power on those particular sins. Need HIM regardless.

Fixed supper tonight and my family was appreciative. It was a simple meal. Ranch Chicken and Buttered Noodles. No veggie. But it was good.

Hubby's birthday is Thursday. He will be 61. No funds to buy him a present or even a cake. Our daughter called him up and she and our second oldest son are taking him to breakfast at Showney's on his birthday. That is nice of them. Wonder if I'm included or if it is only for him?

My present will be, if I get active that is, will be a cleaner home. The kitchen is a mess again, it is so easy for it to become that way and once again the living room needs straightening. The bathroom needs a cleaning too.
