Family history stories are so important to pass on and to know. It's our heritage. Sorry but you could start with your mom what she remembers of her childhood and with you what you remember. Leah, thanks for posting. I know you were tired and I appreciate the Howdy and what you did write. Maggie and Mike I like your posts too.

I know without a doubt my husband loves me and my sons love me. Having said that I also know without a doubt they don't have a clue why vulgar language disturbs me.

Good morning everyone. I've checked my facebook and there is a recent blog on prayer from my pastor. He is a deep thinker and has some good points to make. Reactin' in time Passengers on a plane are waiting for the flight to leave. The entrance opens, and two men walk up the aisle, dressed in pilot uniforms. Both are wearing dark glasses. One is using a seeing-eye dog, and the other is tapping his way up the aisle with a cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start. The passengers begin glancing nervously, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport. As it begins to look as though the plane will never take off, that it will plow into the water, screams of panic fill the cabin. But at that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air. Up in the cockpit, the co-pilot turns to the pilot and says, "You know, Bob, one of these days, they're going to scream too late, and we're all gonna die." Humor is a good way to lighten up your day. Hope you enjoy the above story.

Ginny, I'd completely missed a couple of your posts on here . . . CW has been having some problems, giving me lots of timeouts, and I'm guessing that is what happened, cuz I'd been in here several times. Anyway, I know you have it very rough right now . . we talk so much outside of CW that I've likely already said all I have to say about that, but I certainly didn't want to ignore the heartfelt posts. I wish that things could be different for you . . . that your family could see what they are doing, not only to you, but to everyone in the household because it's such a twisted idea of what family life should be like. Most of all, I wish they didn't shower you with such disrespect. {{{{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}}}}}} I don't have many ancestor stories to tell . . just stories of my mom & dad, which I've already shared on my thread, so won't repeat here. I am enjoying reading you guys' stories tho . . great thread, Ginny!

I slept most of the day. Didn't want to get up and face what must be done around my home. I really need to do that though. Dig in and start accomplishig things. Woke up and went downstairs and wonder what was different. Someone had cleaned the coffee table and straigthen up the living room. It was nice to see an effort had been made to clean some. Thanks Linda and Edith for your comments. I know my family does love me some of this is me having what I need inside to tackle the outside. God says to rejoice and be glad so I do need to change my attitude and become more upbeat and to get active.

"Someone had cleaned the coffee table and straigthen up the living room. It was nice to see an effort had been made to clean some." Well, that's definitely an improvement! Ginny, we all need attitude re-adjustments once in a while. I'm a real pessimist by nature, so believe me, I know how hard it can be. Hope your day (or what's left of it) gets better.

My second oldest son who is 25 wrote this quote, wonder what he means? Ok I found this web site when I inserted the above quote into google: Good People Doing Evil Things. It is a good read in understanding the above quote which by the way my son must have gotten somewhere else. Edith, I'm a pessimist by nature too. It's the pits isn't it? Reminds me of a story of two kids, one was a pessimist and the other was an optimist. For Christmas one year they found a pile of manure under the Christmas tree. The child who was a pessimist looked at the pile of manure and said, "Yuck, we got manure for Christmas!" The child who was an optimist looked at the pile of manure and said, "Oh boy! We got a pony for Christmas. Where's the pony?" I remind myself of that story when I am being pessimistic and try to have the optimist view. I try anyway. However, once again today I struggled to get up from bed and begin to tackle the chores of the house. Didn't get anything done. Hubby said, "Ginny, I've called your mom. You are going to her house to stay." I said, "You did, when do I go." and he said, "I'm kidding, but really you do NEED to start getting things done around here and fix us meals as well." "Do I need to spank you." I don't know what is wrong. Why I'm struggling with laziness. I WANT a nice clean home. I WANT to feed my family. I am not depressed like I was. Am much better but I struggle to get up in the morning and get started. Why the battle?

The opposite of the religious fanatic is not the fanatical atheist but the gentle cynic who cares not whether there is a god or not. Eric Hoffer (1902 - 1983) Have you ever thought how nice it would be to just not care whether you were doing God's will or not? I mean the struggle is no longer there. The push of 'oh why' about things not to be there in your life is a temptation sometimes isn't it? The why can't I change? A gentle cynic doesn't care. He/she could care less whether there is a God or not and therefore they aren't going thru a struggle inside, nothing exists to tear them apart with a push towards satisfying a holy God by being holy by being set apart for His use. Yet you know you can't give up the struggle because you know you love HIM. You love the God who created you, you love the God who came down from Heaven to die for you, you love the gently, humble man who lived on this earth to be a substitute for you so that you wouldn't be judged and die for the sins you know you are responsible for and deserve a sentence for. The struggle is part of knowing, knowing God loved you, knowing who HE is and wanting MORE not less of HIM. You continue to hurt and to fight because of Love, a love relationship with the one who created love.

Ladies' Life Group started Sunday night. There are only 4 women in the life group one of which is our leader. Not a huge group but if we all are faithful it is possible to have a good group and who knows maybe it will grow. The study will be on Spiritual Maturity becoming mature in Christ instead of infants. I need this. The leader handed out the first chapter for us to start studying and answering questions. We will get the book later on for right now copies will have to do. I studied today and went up to the office to get my bible dictionary to see what it had to say on the word holy. Holy: to be set apart for God. While in the office I found another book on holiness, a devotional book teaching holiness by Sheila Cragg. I think I will work through this book too. Hopefully I will and will keep up on it.

Am much better but I struggle to get up in the morning and get started. Why the battle? Actually, I understand that quote very well. It points out once again that religion is man made. And because it is, it is used to justify whatever someone wants to twist it into. What saves us is God's grace, a personal relationship with Him, not a bunch of rules and traditions. Ginny, you're having trouble getting going because no one helps you or appreciates you. You've been stomped on so many times, that the natural pessimist in you just says "What's the point?" (And quite frankly, there often seems to be no point because we just end up doing it over and over and over again, right?) I know it sounds selfish, but I think you need to do things because they make you feel good about yourself. Sometimes a reward system helps. Say you decide one day to just do one main thing, whether that's clean a bathroom, or cook a meal. Don't go overboard; just one fairly major item. When it's done, you reward yourself - a bubble bath, a cup of hot chocolate, an hour curled up with a good book. Actually, everybody in your house should be doing chores because they are certainly old enough to do so. There is no reason why you should be catering to a bunch of males their age. Ginny, I hope your days start getting better. I'm glad you can at least escape to your daughter's house.

Flour Power While attending a marriage seminar on communication, Jim and his wife listened to the instructor declare: "It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other." He addressed the men: "For instance, gentlemen, can you name your wife's favorite flower?" Jim leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "Pillsbury All-Purpose, isn't it?" The rest of the story is not pleasant.

I know my dh has felt that way too but it's flawed logic. One of the functions of the family is to protect and care for the weaker members--which you have been because of your mental health issues.

Hiya Ginny and Everyone! I am feeling tired right now and somewhat anxious. I will be ok though, I know. Just been a stressful week I guess. Ginny, you're depression will cause you to be sluggish and unmotivated. I do know that myself in the past. Recently I have been feeling more optimistic. This is partly because at least one person at my work believes in me to do a good quality job and realizing that others do indeed know that I do a good job as well. It is toxic people who do not know how to encourage and negative that seem to take the life out of you, if they can succeed at that. quote:
The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport. The airport here is surrounded by water. If an airplane were to overshoot the runway then...
