ORIGINAL: Mollymouser I am not sure how to say this ... so I'll just blurt it out. I think that there are a few ... nutballs .... who post in Current Events who think EVERYTHING is some great big giant nefarious scheme/conspiracy ... Just asking for clarification, Harvie, but are you saying there aren't ANY conspiracies? I ask because sometimes I think people are too quick the other way, too, to say "Oh, that's 'conspiracy theory'" because people don't want to dig any further and see if maybe there is some truth that hasn't come to light -- or maybe there's not. But sometimes it is frustrating if you think outside the box and just CONSIDER another angle of it and get labeled a conspiracy theorist. Like really, does it hurt to look at what really happened on Sept. 11, 2001, or is it just 'take the government at its word' first and foremost and "don't question authority". Or when they have these school shootings like at Virginia Tech -- hmmm -- think that guy was on SSRIs? (That's not a conspiracy.) Anyhow, I just want people to think for themselves and not just assume what ABC news or FoxNews (the "Christian" station, I'm told - haha) tell you. I am not a conspiracy theorist but I suppose now you will all think I am. Jeanie

It's not the conspiracy that bothers me. It's the inability to weigh other options. If you're unable to even assess other options then I think you've lost your authority. And Sycophants should always come in a rainbow of colors!

OK ladies, tell me the truth - is it petty and wrong of me to not want to add my cousin to my list of FB friends because of her profile pic? I noticed a couple of days ago that I had a pending friend request. I clicked on it and it's my cousin, whom I've really never gotten along with in the first place. Then I saw her profile pic and...well, to be honest I laughed. Hard. And then I shook my head because it was so pathetic and sad. And I thought, no way do I want that picture showing up in my list of friends. (I don't have a whole lot of people on my FB, so it wouldn't just get lost in the shuffle.) So I haven't confirmed her request. Is that wrong of me - really? Please be honest. In case it makes a difference in your answer, her profile pic is of her wearing a pair of Daisy Dukes and a tight t-shirt, spread out over a motorcycle in a typical "hot chick" pose. She is well into her 40s and while she has always been at least moderately attractive, the pic doesn't do her any favors and is just the epitome of the type of life she leads and always has.

Facebook IS a great way to keep connected to family, especially those we don't see often. Profile pictures often get changed and so even if she had a "good" photo of herself when she sent a friend request, and you accepted, she could change it later. People know that we have no control over the photos of our fb friends. I have a cousin who I added to facebook who then began sending me things that made me very uncomfortable. I didn't delete her, but I did "hide" her so I don't have to see that stuff.

I could care less what my friends use for profile pictures. They change regularly anyway.
