Those stories are funny. The story I always think of when thinking of rumors is one time when my brother was speaking at a conference. He had recently married and his wife had traveled with us but stayed in the van while we set up. As we were walking through the exhibit hall, trying to find our table, my brother put his arm around my sister so he could tell her something without everyone hearing.
We finally got to the table and started to set up when a lady came over to my brother and told him how glad they were to have him. Then she looked at my sister and said, "And who is this?" My brother said, "This is my sister" and introduced her. The lady said, "Oh! I was trying to figure it out because I knew it wasn't your wife. Well, I guess that's how rumors get started." My brother was more gracious than I felt like being at that moment but it was a perfect reminder that appearances are not always what they seem.

The point of the post wasn't to discuss a rumor. It was to point out that someone called me with a rumor and they were told basically the same thing that I hoped that we would all do...pray for the groups. And no, I didn't hang up on them. It was a family member, and a little easier to discuss my thoughts with. Hanging up on them solves nothing.
I think it angers a lot of people when they look on a topic like this and are upset that the rumor isn't posted. Admit it or not....us church people are the kings and queens of the rumor mill.
If you haven't prayed for these groups today, take the time to do it. They need it.

I understand that your intention was good and I couldn't agree more about the artists needing prayer. In fact anyone in Christian ministry needs special prayer. Satan tries hard to bring down those who minister publicly because it gets a lot of notice and takes others down with it. It also gives opportunity to the scoffers.
I just think what you said could have been said and the point made without any mention of a rumor.
JMO, but I think the point has been made and the mulberry bush circled several times. I'd agree to the thread being locked as well.
