And I'm the second to post in it! [:D] Nothing to say, just wanted to scribble a little here. [;)]

sharonjef2007 -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/17/2009 10:34:19 PM)

Oh....fun! A nice fresh thread!!!!!!!!!!! Great idea!

Well, I ended up just getting chicken tenders from a local haunt and then made my own buffalo sauce at home. They were VERY yummy. Did I mention that for my veggies I had green beans and jalapenos? Baby seems to like the spicy food...he/she moves A LOT after I eat it.

Carpet is being installed in the baby's room tomorrow morning. Then I can re-install the molding and get the furniture back in the room so it isn't on our porch anymore. Oh, if you want to follow the tale of the transformation of the baby's room, check out my blog. It is in my siggy.

Oh....before I leave, I have another newbie prego question. Do our cravings normally mean anything? I know if you crave something strange like chalk you need to tell the doc. But, my biggest cravings have been dairy (mostly milk and iced coffe with tons of milk), spicy food and lots of protein. Mostly chicken or the kind of steak you put in steak subs.

Brandy -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 12:55:03 AM)

But Sharon, you are craving food, not chalk, so no, at this point they aren't meaning much other than you're hungry and thats what your belly wants :)

Calcium builds strong baby bones, spicy keeps you happy and protein is great energy. Keep it up.

I drank whole milk like it was water and I hadn't touched the stuff in 10+ years.

Yay Emily!

We may be TTC before the year is up.. maybe. maybe. maybe.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 7:10:39 AM)

unless you are craving things that are not food...don't worry about it Sharon.
Part of it us just what you want (mmm hot wings!!) and part is possibly being deficient. Like you craving a lot of dairy is probably you're bodies way of telling you to up the calcium.
No biggie. Enjoy the cravings. Nothing tastes better than a pregnancy fulfilled!

sharonjef2007 -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 8:21:17 AM)

That's what I figured...but thought I would ask anyhow.

Man oh man....Last night and so far this morning have not been fun with the stretchie cramping. I may need to pull out the tylenol today. I do know that after the carpet people are gone I'm sooooooooo going back to bed for a while. Did not sleep well last night.

evegirl22 -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 8:32:19 AM)

3cappuccinosmom -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 9:29:37 AM)

Sharon, I do think we tend to crave things our bodies needs extra of. Of course, in our culture, what might have been a craving for calcium or protein or healthy fats could be translated into a strong desire for ice cream or a big mac, rather than a hunk of cheese or fish stew or something.

With my last two boys, I had *serious* red-meat cravings. I tend to teeter on the edge of anemia anyway, and after Gebre's birth I bled way too much, so that particular craving made sense.

However, I'm not sure what to think of craving Popeye's chicken when I was pregnant with Biruk. [&:]

Me too! Then the pica started... dirt, anyone? Fortunately some iron fixed that problem.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 9:57:52 AM)

mmmm Popeye's chicken. I craved that wicked bad with Stephanie and this baby. Oh my goodness.
I've been craving a lot of red meat too. And with my boys it was all about red meat baby.
Of course, this time my iron is low...so I'm trying to put more red meat into our diet to boost it up.

sharonjef2007 -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 10:36:30 AM)

Grrrr...carpet installation dudes just called and won't be here until 11:00 now. I totally could have still been asleep!!!! Oh well, at least I can run to the post office now before they get here.

Hey, you don't have to eat just red meat to get your iron!

For REAL! We didn't use birth control at all from the time we married in this past August. But, we did decide to try and do some minimal tracking which consisted of ovulation predictors in February. One month and then the stick said pregnant! And, that was with some major endometriosis in my past.

I'm a lover of the ovulation pee test.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Pregnancy support and encouragment 5 (6/18/2009 1:06:24 PM)

how exciting p31woman! I hope to see you in here SOON!

It'll be interesting to see what you have. My friend who got pg right away each time using ovulation predictor kits has 2 boys... which makes sense, according to the TCoYF guidelines for "choosing" a gender.

We're I'm trying for a girl. [8D]

Did she follow the Shettle's method rules? I'm intrigued, as we are going to be following the boy "rules" starting in August.

Well, it is hard to say. Ray had been gone for a few weeks with the national guard and came home right before Valentines Day. The test said positive, so for the next 4 days we made our best effort [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif] I have no idea if it were early or late that we conceived.
