I just wanted to see what everyone thought of the New Inspirations line-up. If you haven't been to a concert as of late, you are missing out!! They sound incredible and have never had a tighter blend or heart for the ministry! God is blessing them!! They just finished a project in the studio and I for one can't wait for it to be released!!

I saw the NEW Inspirations recently, and they were absolutely wonderful! Not only was their blend the best I've ever heard from them, but they had the sweetest spirit. It is great to see the Lord working through them and such a peace in the group after all the shakeup they've been through in the recent past. The new lead singer has the best voice I've heard in that position, and he seems to really convey what's in his heart and appreciate the opportunity he has. I thought it would be difficult to accept a replacement for Archie in the tenor spot, but honestly, Dallas has stepped in like a pro! He fits in so well and his voice is incredible. Long live the Inspirations!!

I have never heard the Inspirations live, and to be honest never had the desire to do so. It seemed that every song that I heard featured Archie Watkins. I know that there are a lot of people that love him, but I could never get into his voice. Recently, the Inspirations recorded one of my dad's songs (Thinging More of Heaven) and I started looking on Youtube at some of their stuff. I can honestly say that the songs that featured the other singers were very good and I can't wait to hear the new lineup. I have heard Dallas Rogers sing and he is great, so I can only imagine what they sound like now. I am not talking junk about Archie Watkins' singing. It is just one of those things that affect me like scraping nails down a chalkboard. I just can't listen to it no matter how much I attempt it.

I didn't find any humor in what rlh said, and I can assure you, the tens of thousands of fans who have loved the Inspirations for the last 46 years wouldn't either.

I have a sister who never listened to Southern Gospel music until she heard the Inspirations. I think they're still the only quartet she listens to.

the inspirations may sound fine now, haven't heard them... but i do know for a FACT, that Martin and Mike basically pushed Archie out! I have absolutely NO respect for that group now. When you treat the defining sound of the group that way, it is VERY sad!!! It will come back to haunt them soon.

Sammy, What you have stated is an opinion or a rumor.........Do you feel that you have helped the testimony of the Inspirations and Gospel Music. I wish that we as Christians could be positive and look at the big picture, and that is "Do what we do for the right reason."

I don't have the facts, however the reputations of the men in question has been impecable forever. If there was a parting of the ways, I am sure it was done after much prayer and deep discussion. I prefer to let it be and let it heal and not get caught up in the "who said, he said". Spreading gossip about groups is not good for anyone.

Just to address the Archie Issue... He wanted to spend more time with his family and now he gets to travel with his wife and is having the time of his life. I know this for a fact. It was his choice to leave the inspiration and he called in Dallas personally to take his place (I think that was a great tenor choice)

I'm not trying to argue...BUT... I know this for a FACT. Dallas was NOT Archie's choice. Archie told me that, himself. It's only a matter of time before the real truth gets heard. The only truth to your post, TheChef...is that he does get to travel with his wife and he IS having the time of his life.

I wasn't spreading gossip, just something I know to be VERY true. and it was not a mutual thing. Archie wanted to stay on the road, and wanted to keep Darrin (who was traveling with them and helping Archie out), but Mike and Martin had very different plans. Can someone say...lets get rid of the part owner, take his part, and not treat him right? as far as the impecable reputations of the other. perhaps it was good for years, but this big problem alone speaks volume against their 'great' reputations! one this is for sure, Dallas was NOT archies selection at all.

You know guys~ this forum isn't for cutting people down. I know ALL the inspirations including Archie... They give up their lives and their families to do one thing and that is to spread the word of God with everyone! Instead of cutting them down to the ground or trying to defend what you think it right when you may or may not know the story is beside the point! As Christians we should be praising ALL the wonderful men and women in Southern Gospel for time that the spend and that they give to spread the Gospel through song! I didn't start this thread to have anyone get hurt and I think that is what is happening! God is using the Inspirations to share the Gospel He is still using Archie to share the Gospel, praise God! No matter your thoughts on what happened it doesn't matter. What matters is that God is going to prevail and Lives are still being won for the kingdom of God! I have been apart of Gospel music for many years now and have been a Christian since I was 4 what I don't understand it how Christians can be the harshest people in the world and then we wonder why we are where we are today! I love the inspirations every one of them!! They have a great heart for the ministry and to me they have the best sound they have ever had. That is nothing against Archie I think very well of him and his wife and family! Thank God that people as young as David and Dallas want to see southern gospel stick around and are willing to use their talents that God has given them.

I seem to recall Paul and Barnabas (Acts 13:42) disagreeing and splitting up. God used that to re-double the evangelism effort. Friends can disagree and not all disagreements are bad. People just need to learn to break cleanly and to move on; not yielding to the temptation to backbite or destroy others in the process. And their friends need to resist the urge to throw gasoline on the fire.

One of the realities of life is that as you get older many times you can't hit the higher notes you used to be able to hit. There are some very well known singers out there that if you have been in their concerts you have heard it. Archie has been struggling with his voice for several years now, that is why there have been replacment singers for numerous times for Archie. For the betterment of the Inspirations I think it was time to make the change that everyone knew was inevitable. Hey, I think Bret Fravre should get out of football, he is past his prime! I have heard the Inspirations within the past month and they sound the best they have in the last decade, have a new enthusiasm, and are able to sing old favorites they haven't been able to sing in years. Dallas has the voice and some of the manerisms that Archie has but can hit those high notes that Archie can no longer hit. As for Archie, he has a new single that has an awesome message, "He will remember" and Archie can now pick songs that fit his range and still sing wherever he is called. Archie will continue to be a fan favorite, but won't have to strain his voice on a nightly basis, working out well for everyone involved.
