I talked to Steve tonight and man is he a awesome guy!!!! He told me he is looking forward to being home with his 6 year old and 15 year old kids on the weekends he would normally be out on the road. He said once things settle down, he would get a website up and eventually put out a solo CD!!!!! He said he would do a couple of solo dates a month. And man I will tell you he absolutely tore up the stage tonight!!!!! I asked him if they would sing my favorite Gold City song "In Time On Time Everytime" he said they would. I was on the front row and when they started the song and Steve pointed at me and smiled he gave me a thumbs up after the song, He tore it up I loved it!!!!!!! Steve is a class act and I told him he would be greatly missed!!!!! And he will be!!!!!!

Steve Is A Great Guy. He Is True On Stage And Off Stage. I Have Been To Many Gold City Concerts, And At Each Have Greeted Steve, And Its Always Been Like He Has Know Us For Years. He Has Taken Time To Talk With Us, Just As If He Was Catching Up With A Friend He Had Known All His life. He Is A Great Tenor, A Great Vocalist All Around, And What He Sings About Is What He Lives. He And Jonathan Wilburn Are Two Guys Me And My Wife Call Friends, And They Are Two People That Have My Upmost Respect, Not One As People In Everyday Life, But, As Vocalist. And Where Ever Steve Goes He Will Have An Impact On Peoples Lives, Because God Has Truely Blessed Him! He Will Be Missed As A Member Of Gold City No Doubt!!! But I Still Respect And Love Gold City, And I Still Respect And Love Steve Ladd!! Mike

I too will miss steve. I have known him and sang with him on several occasions. Class guy and GREAT man. Terrific Tenor. In my opinion, there are only a handful of tenors that are even capable of picking up the tenor spot for Gold City. Let's be honest, they have had 3 of the best EVER at that position. I dont think he would leave, or even if he's interested, but there is only 1 tenor right now that i think even has the capability of filling that spot and thats Eric Phillips. Just my opinion, not trashing anyone else, im just saying after Brian Free, GC got a Jay Parrack, and after Jay, they got Steve, and after Steve...there arent many tenors capable of "Toting The Mail" left. IMHO, Eric is one of them. God Bless you Steve in all you do, it was a pleasure seeing you, and singing with you buddy.

I would also have to agree. Eric Phillips would be my first choice.

I also agree on Eric Phillips, and I've said that before. I think he sounds more like Jay Parrack than any other tenor out there.

I liked Jay, but why would they want a tenor that sounded like him? Dont you think its time to move on??

I agree , but people did the same thing to Jay when he came on board and had to replace Brian Free. Change is hard. I never liked Jay Parrack's voice until I got to see him perform live. His voice was too shrill for me. His live performace opened my eyes though and he was probably my all-time favorite Gold City tenor. Unfortunately, Steve wasn't with them long enough to get into his own groove and earn his own sound. I know Steve personally and wish he would stay on longer. To me he was just now coming into his own. As for Eric Phillips coming on board, I have to agree. He definately has the sound and the range. And I believe I read in Singing News once that he and Daniel Riley are good friends....hmmmmmm.

Sure it's time to move on from the era of Jay Parrack, Jonathan Wilburn and Tim Riley (the greatest SG lineup of my generation, IMO), but that doesn't mean Danny Riley shouldn't take lessons from his father on how to pick quality guys to sing with them. If Gold City lets this ball drop by picking someone with (a) poor stage presence, or (b) insufficient vocal range and quality to sing the classics as well as new material that should include some high stuff, they'll become a "has-been" faster than anyone could have imagined.

I agree about Eric. I would be suprised if he left MTT . His wife and the Trammells are good family friends, and him and Dustin seem to be good friends outside of the group.

He is good but his voice could not take the everyday grind that a GC tenor has to put out. With voice problems in the past. I just do not think so. IMHO

Jodi is very loyal to any group he's sang with. He has the voice for the JOB. He's not a SCREAMING/SQUEALING tenor that makes you jump and wanna run just to get away from hearing his yelling voice. He is very smooth. His vessels in his neck doesn't look as if they're gonna pop and squirt blood on everyone when he sings.......LOL. You know I still miss some good singing music cuz of "screaming tenors". JMHO

Jodi's voice issues were due to singing multiple shows every day when he was with the Kingdom Heirs. He would be great with Gold City.
