I am sad to see Steve leave the group after only 5 years. I hope they find a replacement soon.

Congratulations to Steve, if he feels that God is leading him into serving His people and His Church. I am sad for GC...but happy for Mr Ladd. Obviously he is doing what he believes to be the will of God. Not always an easy thing to do. Takes courage! Amen. GC will recover. They are so talented. Great article in SN this month. The Riley's have character.

I think Jeremie Hudson would be a great fit for Gold City. He fits right in with their current progressive sound, but could also excel on the traditional GC classics. He and Bruce sang together before, so there is also some history there. I also don't think that JH is singing with anyone currently, at least AFAIK.

Can't say that I am surprised. I saw them in March and he just acted..."burdened"...not the same Steve I had come to know. I hope GC gets a great replacement and doesn't forget

I know GC will recover from this change & be as great as ever. They always seem to land on their feet. I will definitely miss Steve. I love his voice & his spirit. I'm sorry to hear of this change but change in SGM seems to be inevitable. I pray for Steve & his family as they take on this new challenge & I pray for Danny as he searches for the right man to add to GC.

I'd like to see Jonathan Price toss his hat in the ring. This young man is very impressive, and has a LOT of talent. He's singing for DMB right now.

I saw Steve with the Anchormen the weekend before the announcement came out about him leaving for Gold City. He is a good tenor and very nice person and I wish him well. Best wishes to Gold City as they move forward with a new tenor.

I hope they get a tenor that can hit some high "Gold City" notes. I guess I mean the old Gold City.

I hate to see Steve go, he sounded great with GC but it sounds like he is following God's lead. GC will find a top notch tenor and still be great. I don't remember his full name but I think it was Dusty? that sang tenor with Crystal River Qt from Knoxville Tn? He has a tremendous range and lots of power. Young guy with that same style as the others...I would like to see him given a shot.....nice guy. Good luck Steve! And GC!

Randy you are thinking of Dusty Barret, he currently sings for Soul'd Out Quartet. And I agree he would be a great fit for Gold City... But I like him where he is at, Soul'd Out is really going to go places and Dusty fits right in with them!!!!!

In the present copy of Singing News, Gold City says that their new style fits the members desires. Well, I heard them in February in Florida, and I long for the Gold City of old. Someone in their post referred to the "progressive" sound. I realize this is the modern term, but if this is progressive, I will stay with regressive. I have never walked out of a SG concert before, but I did this time. Sound was terrible and they didn't seem to care. Be that as it may, I still like Steve Ladd as a singer. His rendition of "Preach the word" is top quality, gut level power singing and I appreciated his effort.

I totally agree with you, upnorthguy. Gold City has always been one of my favorites and I went to hear them around the time the new band first came and my head was pounding so terribly that I walked out after a couple of songs. In the Singing News this month Danny stated that people have emailed him saying they're going Rock just because of one song, but they had a Rock sound on all the songs I heard. I, too, like the old Gold City's style!
