That would be great ... I was just saying that if I lived and worked in the same county and didn't need my car for assignments, I would take the bus. My insurance covered therapeutic massage when it was located at a chiropractor's office. Of course now my deductible is so high I can't afford to go, and my neck seems to be better.

Envy envy envy... would have come in handy last night during a protest that rerouted all the buses during the evening commute. I spent approximately 1.5 hrs longer than normal commuting yesterday. Grr. Helpful hint to protesters: if you want someone to sympathize with your movement, get permission to protest and, for goodness sake, don't block the streets at rush hour.

As a resident of metropolitan Washington, DC, I couldn't agree more with Jen's words. Not sure if everybody knows I live in Ottawa (Canada's capital). What is it about capital cities that attract so many people bent on disrupting normal life in order to make a point? Protesting at the Parliament Buildings is one thing, but shutting down streets... ech. The folks who designed Washington DC were smart, they built a nice long walkway perfectly suited for protesting without impinging on the general public's right to go about their daily lives. Our Parliament has a lawn, but it never seems to be big enough (or central enough). If only folks would use it and leave the streets alone! At least, although I work for the govt, I work for a department which doesn't often see topic-specific protesters at our building. I visited Washington DC in the fall. What a great city! I was kinda bummed that White House tours seem to be reserved for US citizens, but it's not like we'd planned the trip early enough to make reservations there even if we were American. The rest of the sights more than made up for it!

That doesn't stop protestors who don't care who or what they disrupt in order to get their point across. That especially seems to be the case whenever the IMF or World Bank hold meetings in DC.

I think it's the same in both places... we have a purposefully-designed gathering spot, and protesters refuse to use it and leave the general public in peace.

You can check on your cell phone for the location of all the busses running at the time, so you can find out how long you have to wait for the next one. I believe that public transportation systems are working on doing that very thing right now.

I've had eye twitches too. I didn't know that it had anything to do with TMJ though. That's something else I have.

You can't tour the white house if you're not a citizen? How silly!

You can't tour the white house if you're not a citizen? How silly! It's possible that you can, but I am not sure. Citizens have to reserve months in advance with their member of congress, and we probably could have gotten passes from the embassy, but we didn't plan the trip months in advance so we didn't bother looking into it. In any case it makes sense to give US citizens the priority. He's your President, after all. Anyhow, it'smuch easier to get into the Capitol if you're not a US citizen; one lineup instead of two. I'm feeling much much better today. Long sleeps, and lots of naps, did the trick. I found that I wasn't really able to engage with the Easter services though. I usually love the Good Friday meditation service, but I just couldn't focus. It's kind of like my own sadness doesn't leave me any room to contemplate other sad things; not even Jesus' crucifixion. And at the Easter service, the only reason I was able to focus is that the sermon was a childrens' message. That's about the intellectual level of engagement I'm at right now. I know it's normal and will pass, but it's still frustrating. Friends of mine have announced that they're pregnant; DH and I guessed it a month ago. Really, we're getting quite a good nose for such things.

I totally didn't know that. Remember when we went to the Outer Banks and were near DC? What if we hadn't had car trouble and had time to go there?

I don't think I was with you on that leg of the trip; I flew through DC to Virginia and you met me at the airport. I do remember the car trouble, since you were a little later meeting up with me than anticipated, and the airport was dead as a doornail because it was Saturday. All the shops were closed, and barely anybody was around, but that didn't stop them from playing an orange-alert "don't leave your baggage unattended" message ever ten minutes. LOL I'm really sleepy this morning. Couldn't get to sleep last night, and I feel like I undid most of my resting-up work from this weekend. Ah well, there's always tonight to catch up again.

Yeah, but the airport was very close to DC. Laura and I both had to get our exhausts fixed ... hers was permanently damaged by the shop down there. If one of us had a working car, we might have decided to go to DC to kill some time ... however, we would have had no idea we would have had to make plans in advance.

Been following and enjoying this thread. Let me just say again, Jen, how wonderful it is to have you around again!!! Jen, have you thought about mentioning the tiredness to your doctor? Just wondering if it could be an iron deficiancy?

I'm really tired too ... but mostly because I've been getting up early in recent days and operating on 5 or 6 hours of sleep. Last night I got to bed really late and got up after 6 hours ... tried to get back to sleep but could not.

Jen, have you thought about mentioning the tiredness to your doctor? Just wondering if it could be an iron deficiancy? Heehee! Sorry, that's just funny because it's true. I'd forgotten that you all wouldn't know about the final diagnosis of the tiredness I was fighting off when I got married. I got sent for a sleep test which found nothing; only then did my doc send me for a blood test, and hey presto, iron deficiency! I may be complaining about fatigue, but at least I am not falling asleep at work. At the lowest point, I couldn't stay awake during the day and couldn't sleep at night. I'm still on iron three years later, and those poor blood donation people just don't get it when they call and I tell them that I really can't donate blood, as in, indefinitely, because I'm on iron supplements. Although come to think of it, I did miss one dose this weekend; it's possible that my iron is a little low this week. It stabilized pretty quickly after the miscarriage though; probably because I was really fortunate not to lose a lot of blood. Also, I believe I read somewhere that your iron levels actually rise in early pregancy, and the baby probably hadn't started tapping into my iron stores yet. I think today's tiredness is mostly due to the late night last night; one of those conversations that takes an unexpectedly profoud turn just as you're trying to fall asleep. I don't mind them; I guess they're part of what you sign up for when you get married, but I always pay the piper the next day.

I can't donate blood either for medical reasons. Hopefully that will clear up one day. Jen, if you and DH ever plan another trip to DC, let me know.

Ah, yes, those nice, long conversations after you're both in bed! It's actually a part of marriage I love! But you're right...there is definitely a price to pay the next day. Glad you've already talked to your doctor about your tiredness. Wonder if it's partially your hormones trying to get re-regulated too. I'm sure it's very taxing to a body to miscarry when you're that far along. I am praying for you and hope you get more energy soon.

I've never changed handles. I do remember you from the last time you were around here, but I don't remember how much interaction we had.

I think I remember seeing your handle last time around too, but I must admit it's been a steep learning curve, trying to remember which handles go with which people!

Me and my handle are still the same from when you were here last time, apart from the foils I had put on my head a couple of weeks ago. I can't donate blood for medical reasons either. (((((((((((((((((((JEN))))))))))))))))))))))))) Just cuz.
