It's funny to think of someone being "up north" from you! LOL! Well, sure! There's a whole lotta north with not all that many people living in it, but those who do seem to love it. Mostly, it's a huge country with not a lotta people living in it... makes me think of an article I read in Geography class in high school. There was a military guy from St. John's (in Newfoundland, on the East coast) who was posted to Chilliwack (in British Columbia, on the West coast) for a short-term posting (ie his family couldn't come). He requested that he be posted to London, England, instead, because it would be closer! I haven't had a great day today. What is it about the days in the middle of the week that are harder, for some reason? Today's trigger was a pregnant woman I saw at the gym; I've seen plenty of expectant mothers lately but this was the first at the gym. I suddenly remembered the last class I went to before the miscarriage. Life is not fair sometimes. I don't expect it to be, but when God lets this kind of thing happen, I get so confused. What good can possibly come of it? And yes, that's a rhetorical question but if anybody knows any good answers to it, I'd gladly hear them. I'm going back to weightwatchers tomorrow. Oh goody, one more thing to be disciplined about. I am going with a colleague who is also walking through grief, so we need to get going on our food habits for similar reasons.

Kevin and I get a kick out of the fact that I am now living, in Canada, SOUTH of where I lived in Minnesota. Sorry it's been a bad day.

((Jen)) I don't know why certain things happen, and trying to wrap my brain around it just makes things so much worse. There are some things we just won't get answers to while we are on this earth. Once we get to heaven, I think everything will make sense. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

I've found Darcie on Facebook. She's doing well. I'll have to let her know you're back!

Preliminary plan: fly into eastern Germany, and take the train through Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and maybe Slovakia. We'll probably stick to the capital cities since we only have two weeks, and we figure there are fewer English-speaking folks in smaller towns. DH only speaks English; my French and Italian won't be of much use there, and my German is really rusty. I learned Italian after German, so I keep mixing in Italian vocabulary. Doesn't go over so well. German is sort of the predominant international language in central Europe, so hopefully I'll have some time to brush up. It's actually a simple enough trip to plan--there's one major inter-city train that links all the capital cities, and you can get a one-train flexible ticket that lets you get on and off; much cheaper than a rail pass. And once you get away from Germany and Austria, the cost of travel goes down considerably. You can go to the opera in Budapest for $4!

That's amazing! You'll have to let me know which one you see. And for foreign languages, I barely know spanish. While it was relevant to know in FL, and TX...it's not too relevant here in upstate NY.

Jen, There are at least 2 types of cpap machines. My niece was given a cpap. It did not work for her. They gave her a different machine that delivers the air differently. (Don't ask me how.) She is still trying to get used to it.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it works in terms of how they determine which machine to use. I'm also not sure whether it can be loaned out to test it; what if you buy it and it turns out to be a poor fit? All very confusing.

I remember telling some American friends that the southernmost tip of Canada is at the same parallel as the northern tip of California, but they didn't believe me. I guess it didn't fit into their idea of neat and tidy borders... but without natural-boundary borders, you'd never recognize the outlines of any state! They'd all be square. I'm feeling a lot better this evening. Probably because DH is away for his sleep test... woohoo! One solid night's sleep, coming up! It's not wrong to be happy to have the bed to myself, is it? I always found it interesting that Windsor, ON is actually south of Detroit.

A year ago I had an eye twitch that lasted for a couple of months. It was insanely irritating. I don't know whatever caused it, and I'm not sure whatever caused it to go away. However, when I realized it was gone I was a really happy camper. I also just tried to get a mental image on how some can "drag themselves" to the gym. LOL. My silly humor at this hour is trying to figure out the logistics...

Apparently the eyelid twitch can be related to tension in the sternocledomastoid muscle (one of the front neck muscles; it turns your head). That's the one that gets really tight if you have TMJ syndrome. Since I usually have tight SCM muscles I'm going for a massage today. Ah, massaaaaagggggeeee. That sounds like a really good excuse for a massage.

I think so too. I actually haven't been since the miscarriage, so I'm overdue. I usually would go for one every few months or so if my shoulder acted up; it was acting up a week ago but hadn't gotten worse, so I ignored it. However, if I'm serious about getting back to the gym, I do need to get it dealt with. I'm just very fortunate that my insurance covers a certain amount of therapeutic massage per year. I wish it were more, but I'll take what I can get.
