I am surprised there wasn't a baseball '09 thread yet. I guess I'll start it.

Anyway, I am a huge Twin fan and am feeling pretty good about this season. I think signing Crede was good and think he will help the team win. Their lineup seems to be a little more balanced compared to recent years, especially toward the bottom. There young rotation impressed me last year and hope they can continue to play well. I am a little concerned about the relief pitching since Bonser and Neshek are unhealthy. Hopefully they can find more help there.

I assume most "experts" will say they will finish 4th or 5th in the division (they do every year) but the Twins will continue to compete for the division title.

BTW, I hate the Yankees!!

Even though I'm a diehard Mets fan, I'm betting my cash on the Phillies to repeat as NL East champs. All they did was improve over the winter, while the Mets signed a closer that can't throw more than one inning, a setup guy with a large ERA, and no help at all in the outfield or at second base.

I can't wait to watch the Yankees billion dollar payroll go down in flames!

Saw my first baseball on TV today. My Braves beat the Stros. Good way to start off.

My condolences! I was married to a Twins fan. Then again, he was also a Vikings fan. Minnesotans! What can ya do with 'em?!

I'm a Giants fan.

These last few years I've been scared to admit to that too loudly.

I'm hoping my team (Royals) can get to .500 this season. Not sure if they can do it or not, but there's more optimism around the team than there has been for quite awhile.

I dig the Royals. Being a Braves fan, we have had alot of the same management and players. Plus ya'll have a stadium I always wanted to watch a game in.

I am looking forward to watching the Reds play this year. Finally we should enjoy a winning season here, after so many losing ones in a row. Gone are the negative influences (Adam Dunn, Griffey Jr.), and in their place is a group of talented, hungry young players wanting to have fun and prove themselves. We also should have one of the best young pitching staffs in Baseball. Before we always wondered who would be left over to pitch in the fifth spot, now we have guys with actual talent battling for it.

I'm feeling pretty well about my Brewers right now. It'll be interesting watching the pitchers. Got an intriguing mix of them this year. Although Gallardo is suppose to be one of the breakout pitchers this year.

They got some good bats, but sometimes they play "live by the HR, die by the HR" baseball. If they can play some small-ball and manufacture some base hits and ribbies that way, it could be a lot of fun watching them this year.

I smell playoffs.

That'll depend on Hamel's elbow. If it holds up all season then the Phils should repeat. If not, watch for Atlanta. My Mets probably won't finish higher than second. I see another year with multitudes of men left on base. And one lefty in the bullpen? Not good. Not good at all.

First game of the year is less than a week away!

It sounds like my Twins will be without Joe Mauer when the season starts. Mike Redmond is probably the best back up catcher though so the Twins should be fine.
