I have a percolator. Percolated coffee has its own unique taste, and sometimes that's just what we want. When we go to the Amish restaurant, they make their coffee (which they serve with their home-made pies) in a stovetop percolator. Mr. Coffee's came out around 25-30 years ago, didn't they? That's about when everybody I knew started getting them, but then again, here in the heartland we're usually the last to get the trendy items..... ETA--we cross-posted, Judy!! 1972--yep that would have us getting them toward the end of the "newest rage" phase. I see you're from MO--that's where I spent New Year's! Had a great time.

I have a question about the Keurigs----what happens to the plastic container that you insert in the maker? Is the plastic in contact with the high heat of the brewing process? Just wondering..... .....'cause I find the idea intriguing but I wanna know stuff like that first.

My coffee pot is an electric percolator. As I said I have been told that the coffee is great & I did not need to purchase a different one. Now as to the coffee I just used up the last I had. Don't know how old it was but I paid 69cents for the pound. It had always been kept in the freezer. Everyone said it was very good & wanted to know what kind it was. I hated to tell them it was Kroger coffee. I have purchased a new pound & it is now in the freezer also so I can make you a cup if you come by.

I knew a professor that served on a submarine during WWII. They made coffee in a pressure device. After the coffee was made there were no grounds left and when poured the coffee had a head on it.

What'd you get, armydude? I can't wait til my vacuum pot gets here!!! The coffee guru I spoke with said "it'll even make Folger's taste good" and, coming from a coffee snob like him, that's about the highest compliment he could give.
