I have always wondered why biceps are referred to as "guns." Am I a hopeless blonde for not knowing?

Not guns but gunz. Urban slang.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gunz!!!

I stand corrected.

Thanks for the welcome, Miss Sharon-Marie! I have been a member for a while, yes, but I haven't been on in ages! Usually I "lurked" (did I get that one right?).

Thanks, Cranky. I just bought it for my Kindle. I like hilarious.

You'll have to tell me what you think. I've been snickering my way through it, but you know how humor works--what's funny to one person may not be funny to another.

Something tells me that, if you think it's funny, I'll think it's funny.

I'm 2/3 through a George MacDonald book and then 3 men in a boat is next. I'm looking forward to it!

Which George MacDonald book are you reading?

You know what we should do? We should get a boat and do the same tour as the three men. According to Wikipedia, all the inns and pubs mentioned in the book are still open. How cool is that?

To be just like the book, we need a third person, and then we need a dog.

Any volunteers?

Me!

And just to clarify . . . I'm volunteering to be the 3rd person . . . not the dog.

The position is yours, Sharon-Marie.

Any volunteers for the dog?

Well no, we won't call you that.

But we'll feed you well and you won't be required to do any work.

Wait a minute.

Is the 3rd person going to have to do any work? This wasn't previously disclosed as part of the pre-requisites.

Alex Forbes of Howglen. MacDonald was one of those authors who puts more theology in his fiction than most contemporary writers do in 3 non-fiction books. Like Lewis, Tolkien and Chesterton. I love reading them.

Oh my gosh, YES! Let's get a boat and do that. I haven't even started reading it to know what I'm getting into but I know a good idea when I hear one! You, me, Divabrat and Sharon-Marie? That would be more fun than it's probably legal to have!

If we called them "twinkies" women would not be impressed. And your degree of hopelessness is in inverse proportion to the darkness of your roots.

The really important question is: Why "hooters?

I just clicked on the Jon and Kate Gosselin thread to see how the fighting is going (I've never even seen the show ) and read this:

quote:

Yes it is reasonable to conclude such. But continuing to change as felines. Felines do not become reptiles or cows over time.

Can you see the diff? It's enormous.

I was wondering, who is the feline? Kate? Has Jon become reptile or cow-like?

The glitch had taken me to the Why make the distinction between macro and micro evolution? thread.

(Kerrlaw, I think your mention of ******* has locked up Crosswalk. I've had a terrible time making this post.)

I saw Kate this morning on The Today Show (I was in a motel lobby and the sound was turned down, so I did not hear what she was saying). That got me to wondering, why would anyone have a TV crew follow their family all day and night?

And would any of you coffee drinkers expose you family to that?

Mrs. K and I could put up with it for a year or two for $50 million.

Mrs. K has started it, but I have slim hopes. In fact, when I asked her if the name of the book she started was The Shed, she said yes.

The only three books she has ever read were Old Bones the Wonder Horse, Mrs. Mike, and The Thorn Birds.

I'm curious as to how a brilliant teacher has only read three books?

Mrs. K is the best reading teacher that you will ever want to see in action. The kids in her class consistently score well, not matter how challenged they may be. She can tutor an illiterate adult to read in an amazingly short time. She managed to obtain a bachelors degree from an ivy league college and a masters in reading without reading a book. She simply does not like to read books. She does, however, read newspapers, magazines and a limited amount of professional type stuff..

I can sort of understand how she did it. While I have read hundreds of books for pleasure, I maanged to make it through college, law school, and two bar exams doing the minimum amount of reading posible. I hardly cracked the books on the bar reviews. My method was to always attend class and make very good notes (on the theory that what the professor talked about in class was what he/she would test on). Every couple of weeks or so I would reduce the notes to an outline. The week before finals (and bar exam) I would intently study the outline. This proved to be a very successful method for me.

I will take care of someone else's octuplets for 25 million per year. And do it on camera.
