I was listening to The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie soundtrack and Finntroll's Nattfodd album.
Finntroll is probably one of the oddest bands I listen to. Great metal polka music.

A good list today. I listened to many of the songs from the following CDs:

The Doors - The Doors
CCR - Chronicle
The Grass Roots - Best Of (20th Century Masters series)
Dark Tranquillity - Haven

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong.

Yeah, how did you come to add Dark Tranquility to that playlist? Haven, doesn't that album have the song Wonders At Your Feet? I know I was so happy to hear them go back to the old school with Fiction.

Yes.

I was trying not to OD on hippy music.

Thats like the one thing I don't have. Hippy music. I managed to find a re-release of early Dark Tranquility recordings that had Anders Friden on vocals, very heavy stuff.

Sunday Morning Church Skipping Playlist*:

Led Zeppelin: Houses of the Holy (What would be side 2 on vinyl)
Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (What would be side 1 of 4 sides on vinyl plus a few others)

* Feel my guilt. I did have a hurting back and a blistered toe (a much bigger deal with neuropathy) I wanted to give a little extra time to heal.

Alternative Christian music on The Effect radio station. I listen online and it's commercial free which is a plus.

Van Morrison "The Healing Game"

Rolling Stones "Satanic Majesties Request" (not "satanic" at all, despite the title)

Mike Farris "Salvation In Lights" (can't stop playing that one)

The riding to work soundrack for 08/26:

Robert Johnson: King of the Delta Blue Singers (thats the name of the CD, not the title conferred upon him by the music press).

BTW: On Trunk live (and again online) I caught the song being played from Metallica's upcoming release "Death Magnetic". The song's name is "The Day That Never Comes".

I have to admit that I laughed at the poster Dethwolf (sp?) when he was touting the new Metallica but I have to say this song is the best "traditional"* Metallica song since "And Justicd For All". However, it was vital to get the fanatics from way back on board to drive first week sales so that may have affected the choice of single. IOW the rest of it may not sound like this.

* While I liked St. Anger for several reasons it is so far removed from Metallica's usual sound ( the self titled to Reload is more watered down Metallica rather than a radical departure) that its hard to consider it truly Metallica. It's more like the guys formed another band.

Today has been filled with Brand New, Postal Service, The Shins, and Ben Folds.

Yesterday was all about Gwen Stacy and Underoath.

Good playlist tonight:

My Chemical Romance: songs from both "The Black Parade' and "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge"

Pearl Jam: from "Ten": "Jeremy", "Black" & "Garden"

Over at my friends house:

Riot: "Thundersteel" (full Cd while discussing the virtues and vices of remastering, which this CD was not)

Also picked up from said friend Disturbed's latest ("Indestructible"?) for $5. Listened to about half of it in my car on the way home. Pretty good stuff but I suspect it won't even make it to my alphabatized CD rack ("The Collection" TM). I'll burn me a copy and sell it at FYE. I'll probably make my money back on it or close to it. Disturbed is a band I like and definitely respect but they just aren't a favorite for whatever reason. So i suspected this might happen and am OK with it. It's like a movie rental. I'll give it a chance though.
