That's smart thinking choosing neutral colors! I suspect high school football is a pretty big deal in South Carolina isn't it? Go Bruins! Does the other team have a cool mascot? I like schools with interesting nicknames. Like one area school are the Yachtsmen.

Hey broyce may I give you a word of advice from this old experienced lady?

I too moved from a small town with one high school to a bigger town with five. I love watching high school sports, especially friday night football, so I decided to continue the practice in my new town, by looking at the match ups and going to watch what should have been the best game.........the problem was I never really "felt" any of the teams was my team because I never went to any one teams game to get to know the players well enough to cheer for them by name...........

The following year I chose one team and went to all their games even when they were playing a game which stats wise should not have been that good of a game..........what I found, at least for me, by following the same team all year, they became my team.......I knew the player's names, got to know some of the other fans, and really cared if they won or lost.........my second season was so much more fun then the first because I really wanted them to win.........

So my advice.........chose one team and make them your team.............

BTW Good morning all.

Thanks for the advice Joy! And how did you decide which school to cheer for? The city isn't that big area-wise so proximity isn't much of a concern. I think they're all within 4 miles of where I live. Hmmm......decisions, decisions.....

well I would like to say I studied the stats, compared records and put in a lot of research before making my decision.......but the truth is I chose the school with the nicest football field and uniforms.........

LOL! I'm not much of a football fan. I like soccer and basketball best and I don't even know where some of the downtown schools play soccer! If you consider uniforms, I guess you wouldn't like the one school who wears white uniforms with yellow lettering! You can't tell what number anybody is because that yellow is so hard to read!

Hahahaha! That is such a girl response! Sounds like something I would do...LOLOLOL

Luckily we only have one high school in our home town so if I were to frequent the football games I would go to them. I love the fact that the school colours are the same as my high school in Illinois. Makes me feel nostaligic.

When Thing 1 gets into high school I will definitely get into the games. When Thing 2 is playing I'll be there screaming my head off...LOLOL

Colors are a perfectly valid reason to choose who to cheer for! I have a friend who only cheers for purple teams. And she rarely refers to them by name, instead cheering "Go purple team!"

I usually go to the local college soccer games............Come to think of it I don't think I have ever been to a high school soccer game.........We did not have a team at my highschool back then.

Though I love football it is not really the football which I enjoy so much as just being at the games.........something about friday night football is just so comforting and familiar to me.

I guess football's just not that popular in this area compared to others. Maybe part of it is that so many schools are too small to have a team. The "big school" division in Maine is for schools with over 700 students. So all those little schools with like 150 students really don't have enough players to play football.

And why green? I think one of the schools here wears green uniforms. I've never been to their games before though so I'm not certain.

My county has 17 public high schools......my city alone has six of them.

I don't follow high school football - at all - even from my school.

I am in Portland, the only place that can really be considered a city in Maine! My grandparents go to Moosehead quite often, but I've never been. I haven't seen a lot of the state actually.

Green is either second or third for me. Columbia Blue is tops. Then either green or orange (which was my high school color)

Pink is my favourite colour and unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of teams that wear pink.

The majority of football I watch is NFL and I loathe GreenBay (who are green; my second favourite colour) so I stick with my Cowboys who are ironically blue (my third favourite colour). *grin*

I recently acquired a ne Cowboys baseball hat and loooove to wear it. It's so cute!

My high school and the high school in the town I live in are both red, black, and white so that's cool. Those colours always represent power IMO so I'm good with them.

Well you better get busy.........it would be a shame to live in such an amazing part of the country and never take the time to experience all it has to offer............

Besides it would give you lots of things to post in the great moments as a single thread...........

You don't know what you are missing Lisa..........High school football is so well worth the cost of a friday night.

That's a lot of schools. Of the six high schools in my city, only two are public. And they are the two biggest schools in the state with about 1400 students each.
