Sandy I agree, I ain't pregnant but Jeanie's post had me tearing up too!!

Sarah thanks for keeping on top of things with Erin and letting us know, it would be hard with your own little one and your family at the moment, so its greatly appreciated!

Erin, praying for those kidneys, and for peace for you and Klay. (good to hear your family is not being annoying at the moment too!). A little something from Australia will be heading your way soon. If only I could fit myself into the package hey?

Wow, Erin - what a shocker!

I'm so thankful for how well he's doing considering how early he was! Were you 28 weeks?

Congratulations to you and Klay - welcome sweet baby Isaac!

Will continue to cover all 3 of you in prayer.

Isaac

Morning all...we are doing well. Finally got some sleep and I am so sore this morning...all over, but feel better. I also got a good cry out, I had been pretty much holding back with everyone being around. Isaac is our miracle baby and he keeps being a miracle...God is good.

I called last night before bed to check in (I love that they dont care when you call they will tell you everything) they were able to turn his ventilator down even more so he is breathing well...still working on those kidneys. They also had to sedate him some more last night since he got the hiccups. His toes are blue right now and she is having trouble getting them warm because he wont keep them covered up...so he has some spunk.

Erin- He looks huge in that picture! Must be the angle! What a precious boy- he seems to be doing so well- know that there are TONS of prayers for your family. I have seen LOTS of babies his age grow up and do great (I used to work in Early Intervention, so we saw a lot of preemies after they were home and needed some extra help). He seems like a little champ already- praying his NICU stay will be short and sweet. You just go with those mama instincts as issues come up- he's your little guy, even though he's not home with you- you are still the mama!

Praying for Isaac's kidneys and that he will keep those little tootsies covered! How wonderful to hear about the "mundane" concerns like kicking off his covers. It's a reassurance that he is strong and going to grow well.

When you say you were home last night do you mean at the trailer or that you had to drive back the two hours to your house? Praying for you and Klay. My little one was only in NICU for a week, but I remember how helpless I felt. ((((Erin)))) My prayer is that he will grow so strong and fast that he will be home soon.

Erin- are you allowed to put anything in his bassinett? Will they let you keep a blanket with you to hold/sleep with so he can have your scent with him? That might help you both feel a little more connected...

Aw, look at him laying there! He looks like he wants to tell a story! He is a beautiful boy, Erin, you and Klay did good!

Praying for your recovery, too, Erin. It's got to be hard to be one day out from delivery and running around so much. I know there are many praying specifically for YOU, TOO, as you are healing.

Come on, Isaac's kidneys and warm toes!!!

Hey, Erin, can you bring a t-shirt or pillowcase or something with your scent on it for him? He might snuggle right up to the scent of his mama...

He's a real champ and a beauty, Erin!

Love,
Jeanie

Hey, on the flip side of Jennifer's comment, would they let you hold one of his blankets that he's slept on so you would have his scent, too?

Yes, they told me that this morning. We are going to buy some receiving blankets today...must say we were a little unprepared.... She said they would use our blankets instead of theirs if we brought them...so we will!

Erin- make sure you get them washed in baby detergent or an All Free type detergent- my girls have super sensitive skin as full term babes, I would imagine that your little guy would be very sensitive at his young age... That is GREAT that they will let you do that- I think it will help him a lot, especially as he grows and you can hold him more!

Oh Erin, he's beautiful!!!
Thanks so much for the picture. I agree with the other ladies- he does look huge in that picture.
I am so glad you were able to rest last night and get a good cry out this morning. You have a lot going on, so let it out girl, let it out!
Every time I woke up last night (which as usual, was a lot) I was praying for you guys and baby Isaac, hoping he and the night shift nurse got along well. Sounds like they did.
I hope you, Isaac, and Klay get lots of bonding time today.

I had an idea of something that would probably be very useful to send. Isaac is 2 hours away from where they live.....what about gas gift cards to help them out with gas costs? Just a thought.

Erin, he is beautiful! Congratulations! will be praying for Issac to stay healthy.

I totally appreciated being able to call the NICU any hour of the day or night - the nurse would talk to me personally and give me updates on my baby (who was a monster sized baby comparably!) The NICU nurses that I dealt with were all born to be NICU nurses. They were all very, very special ladies. I pray that is your experience with them too.

I took in my own blankets for Judah and also had pictures around his bassinet of me and Paul and of us holding him (taken on day two, then printed right away.) You may enjoy taking in pictures of you, Klay and your pets for Issac to gaze at. Introduce him to his whole family via pictures

I don't know if this is helpful information or not (I'm sorry if it's not!) but when Judah was in for the one week and I would go visit him for hours on end it soon became VERY uncomfortable to sit in the chairs they had available, so I nicely asked the nurse if they had anything else available, and they brought me TWO super comfy chairs for me to alternate between sitting on.
I'm not sure why comfortable chairs weren't offered in the first place, considering the women that would be in there would've JUST given birth, but if that's how it is at your NICU just ask them if they have comfy chairs. A silly thing to mention, but just thought I would.

(((Erin)))
