In an email from L5:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 25, 2008
Nashville, TN

Tim Parton, pianist for Legacy Five, has announced his plans to leave the group to pursue other interests.

According to Tim... "I enjoyed filling in for Roger Bennett during his illness and was glad to stay on board after his death. I have had to try and balance other musical opportunities that have come my way and it is time for me to do one or the other. I cannot continue to do both the road work with Legacy Five and the additional musical endeavors that I enjoy. I want to say thank you to Scott Fowler, Scott Howard, Glenn Dustin, Frank Seamans and our bus driver Gary Buckner for being so understanding. And to all the Legacy Five friends out there, thank you for welcoming me and accepting me into the Legacy Five family. I will always remember you and appreciate you all for being so kind and gracious to me."

Scott Fowler, manager of Legacy Five states, "Tim has been an incredible blessing to Legacy Five. He really helped us through a very rough transition and he did it with his typical humility and class. There isn't an unkind bone in Tim's body. He's one of my favorite people and all the guys will miss him but we wish him all the best."

Tim will remain with Legacy Five until a replacement is named.

Pianists wishing to inquire about auditioning for the position should contact Scott Fowler at scottfowler@legacyfive.com.

What a disappointment this is! Tim is incredible with L5. And no one could have filled in better after Roger's death. It will be interesting to see what L5 does next.

Well, bless Tim's heart. I know this had to be a very difficult decision for him. IHe was so wonderful to help L5 through some very rough times before and after Roger's death. I agree with Donna - it'll be interesting to see what comes next. I'm sure there will be quite a large number of people applying for that position and it will be a matter of which one really fits in with the group.

Wow! This hurts. I really like Tim and enjoyed talking with him at the concerts I attended. When he saw me and my son arrive at the Memorial Day Celebration he came out from behind the table and gave me a hug, just like an old friend. He will definitely be missed!

I wish Tim well. He was a perfect fit for the group. I will miss him but I am glad that I got to see him three times with L5.

I'll miss Tim. I enjoyed all four of the concerts I saw him in (5 if you count NQC), and I'll miss hearing him sing "God's Been Good" live. Thanks for being with the guys during a tough transition, Tim, and God bless in your future endeavors.

This was a suprise! He is a great guy! I met him twice since he's been with L5 and I hate to see him go. I, too, wonder who is going to take that position.

I am really bummed about this. I wonder if Brian has heard about this. Wasn't the concert he is going to tonight, or is it tomorrow night?

Ok, Tim is gone, goodby.

Now lets start the speculation about replacement. Who is on your top of your wish list? If we could pull any keyboard from any group who would it be?

That is already being discussed in the Legacy Five thread.

Oh, and Tim isn't gone yet. He is staying until a replacement is in place.

I'd vote for a Yamaha.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. The word I'm getting is he's going to stay. Just like Frank did a few years ago, I think he's having a change of heart. Stay tuned.

Where are you hearing this? The e-mail saying he was leaving came from Scott Fowler last night.

That would be an interesting turn of events, wouldn't it. I imagine there has been quite a bit of feedback to L5 about the announcement, so I guess it's not outside the realm of possibility. I would love it, but I would be very surprised, too.

I'm ok with either. If he stays, he stays. If he chooses to go, more power to him. After having such a earthquake as losing Roger, there's not too many personnel changes that could shake me much.

I hope what DisneyChris said is true, though. Tim is a nice guy!!

Didn't even see this thread yesterday, I went directly to the main L5 thread. Anyway, just posted in that thread.

I admire Tim Parton and I would imagine this whole thing has been a major experience for him. How do you fill the shoes of Roger Bennett? How do you please Roger's fans when they've been used to the best? Questions like this have had to be hard for Tim.
He has however been so well accepted in spite of all those questions. Perhaps the outpouring of support at the announcement of his departure will reassure him a bit and he will change his mind about leaving. Especially if he wins the musician of the year award at NQC. He got my vote as well. I hope he does stay, but if not, there are many talented pianists out there today and I'm sure they'll get someone good. Joshua Pope is good when he's old enough to travel all the time.

as good as andrew ishee is, i really can't see him with L5. he would be completely out of place.
i don't think stewart varnado would make the move, but in my opinion, he would be the best fit. I fully expected him to be rogers initial replacement. Hopefully i'm wrong and they will get stewart from the dixie echoes
