Kerrlaw -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 3:03:59 PM)

It is a famous fictional train, immortalized in song. I remember the Roy Acuff version.

Wabash Cannonball

danielmount -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 3:09:45 PM)

Thanks for the link!

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 5:18:45 PM)

I did not know a chat thread had a particular topic and Kerr's thread is considered a chat thread.

danielmount -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 6:00:39 PM)

I just wanted to be sure mine wasn't.[:D]

Kath -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 6:25:30 PM)

I think Kate would have let you know if it was a chat thread. :)

danielmount -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 9:07:19 PM)

OK, thanks!

Ps103 -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/28/2008 11:12:30 PM)

It isn't.

Kath -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (7/29/2008 12:59:26 AM)

whew! That's good because I was just taking Daniel's word for it that it wasn't a chat thread.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (8/9/2008 2:08:43 PM)

Hey Kath, we need a clarification for non-chat pages. How long can they go on? The "Concerts recently attended" thread is nearing 100 pages. Can it continue on and does it have to stop at 100?

Kath -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (8/10/2008 1:37:23 AM)

Well, we can ask PS103 what she'd like to do. I would not start a new thread until she says what to do.

Ps103 -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (8/11/2008 11:45:20 AM)

I think we can just ride that one out to the end of the year, then someone can start a new one for 2009. (The thread is a couple of years old.)

Trust, but verify.[sm=cooltilt.gif]

I like that idea--yearly threads for the threads popular enough to get in the 100 page region. That seems to be a decent middle ground between cutting off all the time (on 3-page threads) and letting them run forever.

That sounds reasonable!

What is a Wabash Cannonball?

Sigh...a "resource person" who doesn't know his Roy Acuff...sad, sad, sad. [:)]

I only know SG (and a bit about CCM). About every genre I am happily ignorant.[8D]

The Great Speckled Bird, as recorded by Roy Acuff, was my father's favorite song. lyrics here.

danielmount -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (8/18/2008 8:23:02 PM)

I've heard a Gospel group or two do that one.[:)]

Thanks Kath for providing these updates.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (10/19/2008 4:03:39 PM)

Hey Kath or Ps103: I didn't know where else to post this but I know y'all read the stuff up here so I posted it here.

Is there a way that y'all could have a thread up here in the top section with links to the threads for the various groups and artists? That way, if someone is looking for the L5 thread or the thread for Mike and Kelly Bowling or one for Ivan Parker, etc, they wouldn't have to search through page after page looking for it. There would be a quick links post right on the first page.

There was a post like that at one time that had links for some of the groups but it went away.

Ps103 -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (10/19/2008 4:25:46 PM)

Hi, Jeff!

Yeah, we really do need one, especially since some on the old list have been purged if they were not officially one-stop threads.

The old post with the info on it got moved into a thread with other info on it, since some people were complaining that there were too many pinned threads[:D].

I will tinker around and see if I can make everyone happy--or even semi-happy[8D]

Give me a few days to sort it out, though.

Jeff_from_Kentucky -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (10/19/2008 6:13:31 PM)

Thank you! I appreciate the quick response!

Thank you Kate...I think that is a wonderful idea...thanks Jeff for bringing back the idea.

danielmount -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (10/20/2008 10:13:00 AM)

I personally would like to see such a post given its own separate thread, as opposed to being post #52 in this thread.

Meanwhile, perhaps the bumping posts and game threads could be posts #2 and #3 in the folder rules thread. That way we could have only two threads at the top - one for the rules and one for convenient links.

Ps103 -> RE: Chat threads, policy update (10/20/2008 12:09:08 PM)

I understand that the pinned threads annoy some people, but we really are just going to have to get used to them. Other folders have many more[;)]

Anything that needs to be seen by everyone deserves its own pinned thread, and for the pins to be effective, they need to be visible. Such is the way it is in forums.

I am going to close this thread, since it is about the chat thread policy update[;)]
