I tried to find what southern gospel song was # 1 in September of 1973, but I had no luck.

It was "He Pilots My Ship" by the Happy Goodmans.

maybe some of you SG history buffs might have a better idea what was big in Southern Gospel in November of 1958? It probably had to be written by Fannie Crosby, Moses, Bill Gaither (lol) or Wally Fowler.

Boy you have all the important dates covered!

I'm not sure if it was #1 but Dolly Parton's version of 'I Will Always Love You' was one of the more popular songs out there, it was on the radio every time you turned it on. It was not appropriate for my situation.

I tried to find what southern gospel song was # 1 in September of 1973, but I had no luck. I did find that "Touring That City" by the Inspirations was # 1 in November of '73 so I guess I'll claim that one, it's close enough.

"He Pilots My Ship" by the Happy Goodmans was #1 in September of 1973.

What was #! in May of that year?

The gospel greats site doesn't go back far enough for my birth date, but on the day I got saved in 1990 the #1 song was "Here I Am" by the Hoppers. That's really cool, since I love, love, love that song!!! It tells my testimony!

Those are neat but don't go far enough for this old fogey. I need mid 1950s. Nearly back to the pharoah times.

What I find funny is Swains. I remember when that song was #1. Some of the others are funny too, mainly because I consider them to be classics. *ducks and runs for cover*
