has been a while since saw this thread and concert season kinda in full bloom.
what regional groups that others may not be heard about that you were thoroughly impressed with so far this year?

We have a local group in our area named Enlisted that I really enjoy listening to. They are a mixed trio with mother, son, and an unrelated lady. I have one of their CDs. They were at NQC last year but I don't know whether they performed in any of the showcases.
There is another local group I like named Voices Won. They are a trio of brothers. I have several of their CDs.
Three more regional groups that are becoming much better known that I really, really like are New Ground, The Old Paths Quartet, and The Diplomats.

I saw a group at Singing in the Sun last week from Kannapolis NC named One Way. I was impressed. There was another group I had not heard until last week from WV called the Shaffers. They were also really good.

I think you gonna see Voices Won go places in the SG industry now that they are recording on a major label. Their current single Fishin Time is #51 on the June SN charts, up from 80 last month. Saw them last Sunday night and they are better than ever.

Voices Won was at my church Monday night for revival and they've definitely got their technical stuff down. However, I'd like to see them interact with the audience a little more and get a little more into their singing...feel it a little more.
I'll put a plug in for my own quartet here, too...Pure Heart!

I haven't heard The Bibletones but I second Calvary's Way. I was priviledged to get a sneak preview of their latest CD and it is great. Good song selection and just good old fashion quartet sanging.

Ya know, I steered clear of the other thread on this subject, but I think I'll just have to say something in here. Regarding lesser known & newer groups and promoters & churches.....it is so hard to get them to open their door for these groups....we just about have to PAY them to get to even talk to them. I deal with some of these groups, so I know very well all the dry calls I make and all the lies I hear from people..........I love trying to help people, so that is why I take on newer groups & lesser known groups, just to try and help them spread out. When I hear a group that gives me the Holy bumps, then they're good, and NO, I'm not tone-deaf. I emailed one promoter, as I had no number for this person....and here is part of what I got back.......[ The Church I use for concerts don't do any on Sundays. As a matter of fact they aren't Southern Gospel at all. Only two or three people support the concerts I have there.]....Now, I'm not saying this pperson was lying, but, I see where they do book SG groups a lot.......so I really don't understand their statement there. Yes, I will probably get HEAT from this post....but so be it.....fact is, WE do have some great "lesser known" groups out there who are having a tough time getting the time of day. Some of whom most of you have mentioned. And the groups mentioned here so far, are very good, with the exception of one that I haven't yet heard. So go ahead, throw your rocks, I'm a dodging them now.....LOL

We are blessed to have a large number of good local groups within a 40 mile radius of Chattanooga. Some of the best ones I've heard are 2x2 Quartet, Testimony Quartet, Southland Quartet, Scenicland Quartet, and Bondservants Quartet. There are some wonderful trios like the Webb Sisters, Hope 4 Tomorrow, Shields of Faith and one I heard for the 1st time the other night Called Three for Thee. Two really outstanding Duos in the area are Promises and Heavenly Voices. There are a bunch of solo artists;too many to list.
We are very fortunate to have a lot of area restaurants open their doors and have singings on a once a week basis. Every night of the week except Sunday and Wednesday there are places to go to hear Southern Gospel music. On Tuesday night alone there are at least 10 restaurants within 40 miles with Southern Gospel music programs. It gives a great opportunity for area talent to develop.
I guess I've run my mouth/fingers enough for my first post.

Ms Judy---You said a mouth full in your post. Every group that is not FULL TIME does not mean they cannot sing. There are many reasons some groups are not FT. Some do not care for the Life on the Road (it takes its toll on Families)--some have business to run, some just cannot live on what a major group can afford to pay and many, many other reasons. Many Groups just Love SG Music and that is why they do it with no intentions of it growing to FT status. That does not mean they cannot sing. Many Part time Groups have a great sound ( not all of course ) This in no way is intended to cut the FT Groups in any way. They deserve what they get and more. I am afraid if Diesal Prices dont come down very quickly, it is going to take its toll on Major Groups that we all are used to hearing and Love. There Flats need to go up, but the promoters are having a hard time coming out like it is and may even get worse because the Fans are fighting the Battle at the pump also. I have heard of several groups parking their Busses to make payroll, but with the Schedules they have listed I dont see how they can survive traveling in a van. I truly hope I am wrong, but I am afraid its going to get worse before its gets better. Of course, thats just my opinion.

I like ,,,, Southern Charm (womens trio), Prasie Inc (male quartet), and New Day (mixed trio). They are all in the Dallas area.

Funny you bring that up....
Pure Heart is actually from Fort Oglethorpe, yet sadly, because of the Testimonies and the Sceniclands, we've just about been shut out of this area. Because churches don't know us, they don't book us. Most of the time, they won't even call us back! So, we go elsewhere to sing, outside our home area. And it's not like we're low-quality. At one point we had a #1 song and were Diamond Award Nominees. 
It's just really discouraging that the "big groups" push out the lesser known ones even on a regional level. I just wish churches would give us a chance.

MsJudy, the reason I started this and the last one is well, 2 reasons I started it.
1. I live ((least for a few more weeks)) in an area where no SG is really prominent*sp*. It's a way to find out info on groups around the country that are impressing people so I can search them out on internet if possible and study the music I love a bit more.
2. The fact being lesser known not many people outside the area they located know of them so is a bit of hopw do we say, free advertising.
and Sam, Bibletones been around for oh, 55 years or so. they one of my fave groups to not be major.

The group I like isn't really a local group. They record for Eddie Crook. They are the Called Out Quartet. I saw them once and they were really good!

Jeff if you dont have that cd I highly recommend it. have to say they not the most famous but thats one of my very fave cd's I own of any genre
