Songs to be played at my funeral? I'm not sure. The Kingsmen's "Wish You Were Here" would have to be played as well as the Cathedral's "Wedding Music".

ORIGINAL: hayesfamilyfan I'd Never Miss Heaven For The World - Hayes Family I love that song and they do a great job on it. Before my service starts, as people are coming in, there will be a 'slideshow' of pictures, not of me so much as of family and friends that some include me. I have a list of songs ready that will be played for that, a couple of piano solos (Anthony Burger & Matt Holt), 'Let's Party' by Jeff & Sheri, "I'll Find You Again" by the Perrys, "I've Read the Back of the Book" Cathedrals, "Once Upon A Cross' Mark Trammell Trio, "Wish You Were Here" Kingsmen, "The Cross Answers for Me" Perrys, "Heaven Can't Be Far Away" Mark Trammell Trio. During the service there will be a lot of music, on song that I have to have is 'Resting Place' done by my favorite singer, Jim Burns and also "I Want to Thank Him for What He has done" sung by Jim. There are several other songs I'd like to have depending on the ability of the people to get it together. I have 2 speakers planned, I want salvation, dedication and the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I want an invitation given. At the gravesight I want a couple from our church to sing 'Look what I've traded for a manison' with the guitar.

Doug and Anthony's deaths so close together and both so young taught me that age has nothing to do with it. It can be tomorrow. No one but you really knows what you want done at your funeral and who you may hope the message will reach. Within a month of Anthony's death (2 months from Doug's) I had thing pretty well mapped out. Now a couple of songs have changed as some new song came to my attention or touched my heart in a special way. Each song on that list has a meaning in my life. Each group or singer has had a special place either musicially, personally or both. Some of the songs could change a bit - the next project may contain something that I think may reach someone that might attend my funeral or might say to them exactly what I would say if I was there. I did miss two songs on the play list during the pictures 'It's Still The Cross' by Gold City - not sure how I missed that or left it out. And 'Last Night' by Karen Peck & New River (that was Four Days Late but I changed the song for this one)

Wow this is an interesting forum. I say this cause Meredith and I have recently discussed this. As I said in th geezer forums we have been on a journey the last few months. Well my health was part of that journey. At one point last month we thought I was going home. I spiked at a 104 body temp and seized out on our floor. (have a nice rug burn to prove it on my forehead). I run an abnormal body temp as is. My normal temp is around 96.7-96.9. So from what they explained a typical person would seize around 106 and I was 2 degrees early due to my normal body temp. That led to almost 2 weeks with a 100+ degree fever. Most everyone wrote me off. Cept our Father. As many times in my life as I have been closer to death than I want to be H has never let me fall. To me that is a huge Praise to Him and yet scarry cause He must be expecting something good from me later lol. We discussed this subject during this period cause our Pastor wanted to know. Here is my list. If You Only Knew - The Inspirations - Your Prayers HAVE been answered MY sickness is gone. I'll See You Soon - Mercy's Well - I Leave you with this promise. Amazing Grace - Accapella (Lov the group and the style of music) The one non christian song I would have played is. The Dance - Garth Brooks. As the song states. "I could have missed the pain. But I would've had to miss the dance. And I wouldn't miss this for the world."

I would definitely have the Hinsons, "Call Me Gone" played at mine. I'm entertaining having Glorious Tomorrow by the Greenes, Well Done My Child by Greater Vision, or I'm Bound for That City by Allison Durham Speer, or Oh What a City by the Paynes. I really don't plan to die for a long time...if you know what I mean...

DB that's too funny! I'm too lazy this morning to go back and find the post and copy and paste but the concert someone mentioned I think the Kingsmen. I've actually toyed around with the idea of 'assigning' a set amount of my insurance $$ if I die while still employeed (I have a 6 figure policy through work) to have a HUGE gospel concert with my favorite groups as a 'memorial service'.

Never thought of that, but I may have to see what can be done. I've had a couple of concerts in the past. The last one was MTT but this would be 4 or 5 top groups so the cost would not be small. Not sure they would do that as it is a work policy. There is no guarantee I'll still be working when I begin to live eternally.

one for the preachers on the board to consider would be True To The Call by Kingdom Heirs. being a baritone got to love songs written for baritones. and that is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard released last few years

Actually for anyone in the ministry I think GV's Faces would be an excellent choice. Also, the one on the Hoppers CD The Ride - Applause of Heaven
