dbmurray -> Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/12/2008 11:07:38 AM)

I moved this over from the "antics" thread, so that thread wouldn't be hi-jacked by what is turning into a string of guesses.

I wrote:
quote:

Trammell and Wolfe have nothing on this guy...click HERE for the most memorable version of "Oh Holy Night" you'll ever hear!

The way he takes the ending down an octave just when you expect him to go even higher is a masterful stroke! Or maybe he was having a stroke...

Aaron Swain knows who is singing the song.
quote:

I actually know who that guy is. He does production work for alot of SG groups, and the story goes that he and Kevin Williams were playing around after a Guy Penrod recording session, and that was the result

So far, we've guessed: Tracy Stuffle, Mark Lowry, Tim Lovelace, Michael Sykes, Lari Goss, and Wesley Pritchard

I'd like to know who created this gem.

My next guess is Michael English, since Swain said Sykes was "close."

BassSingerSwain -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/12/2008 11:09:00 AM)

Well, by "close" I meant there was an "M" in the name. Guess I should have clarified! [&:]

Alrighty...I knew Sykes and English had done some production work together...didn't really think it was English, but I was guessing to the clue rather than instinct.

Well, I'm sure English's version would have sounded alot better! [:D]

Another clue:

quote:

In the interview I heard, he said that, ironically, he'd just produced a Christmas album by a well-known quartet that had the same song on it!

dbmurray -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/12/2008 11:42:05 AM)

One reason I thought it might have possibly been English is because I've heard he is one of the voices on the Stamps' Let's Have Church CD...right after the song, "Church."

PerrysFan -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/12/2008 1:10:22 PM)

My guess is MARK LOWRY!!

Very funny tooo!!!![:D]

That's already been guessed, but that's not it. I could definitely see him doing something like this, though. Just imagine the facial expressions to along with it! [:D]

L5Ropeholder -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/12/2008 2:43:42 PM)

Don't like it at all. I wonder if he got that fur ball up yet???

The best I ever heard it done was David Phelps, and a close second Sandi Patti.

I still agree with Daniel, we got to get Glen Dustin to do it solo!!

dbmurray -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/13/2008 4:28:37 PM)

Is it Marshall Hall? I know he's done a some production and he knows Kevin Williams, obviously...don't know if he's done a Christmas CD for a quartet, though.

BassSingerSwain -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/13/2008 4:35:52 PM)

Nope. Guess again!

Seaton -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/13/2008 5:46:11 PM)

I don't know who produced it, but is it the individual that produced Legacy Five's Christmas album?

Bingo. I'm sure DBM or someone will have it now! [:D]

I'm sorry but I can not think of who Steve Mauldin is.

Dinana -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/14/2008 11:28:44 AM)

Ruth, I only know him from the arranging he does for lots of groups. I don't know that he's ever sung with one. (With that audio, I hope not anyway!!!!)

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/14/2008 12:29:36 PM)

I think the title when I checked it out said "O Horrid Night". And from what I could hear it was that.

Thank you for answering my question as to who he was. I don't think he will make much of a living with his singing. [:(]

A truly excellent singer knows all the tricks for making it sound REALLY bad. [:D]

AmyR -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/15/2008 1:40:59 PM)

Is this the one that Matt Paasch (I think) was passing around at Christmas time? (I don't have audio on my computer here at work.)

MattPaasch -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/15/2008 2:53:30 PM)

Yep.... this is the one! [&:]

AmyR -> RE: Who sings this version of "Oh Holy Night?" (4/16/2008 9:42:28 PM)

Thanks ... So I googled the name of the song and Steve Mauldin and found this. Mildly interesting to those of us who are nuts enough to care. [sm=silly.gif]

Don't know if it's how Quaid found out or not...
