ORIGINAL: amannoftruth How about when a preacher says, "Watch this now", when he wants you to really pay attention to his next point? We use to have a pastor who would say, "If you are here and can hear the sound of my voice, then..." Crazy!!

Oh, this thread is funny. I majored in English, and I'm an editing Nazi. At least, if I didn't write it. If I wrote it, then all I can see is what I meant to say... several of my have been said already. * Irregardless (and I don't care if it IS in the dictionary! LOL) * Using a pronoun as an unnecesary indirect object (My mom bought her, I bought me, etc) * warsh (wash has no "r") My own additions... * Bad comma usage! (in professional works) * to/two/too errors (in professional works) * there/they're/ their errors (in prof. works) * it's/its errors (prof. again) * a singular noun followed by a plural pronoun (ie, Give your child what they want - YOU! -- that was from an actual flier from an argh!) * when I have to write about myself in third person for uni (ie, the researcher discovered that... or, it is the opinion of the author that...) Ordinary language? * WalmartS (since when is it plural or possesive?) * Ending sentences with prepositions. Well, at least when it's written. It's just not something I'm willing to put up with * using "feel" instead of "think" or "beleive" (ie, "I really feel that creationism is correct." No, that is a beleif or a thought, not a feeling) * Using the plural you instead of first person pronouns (ie, "You know how it is, you're driving along the freeway and someone pulls in front of you, and you totally want to flick them off..." Ack! Take ownership, people!) In my defense... * If I say something is "old school," I don't mean it derogatorally. It's just...no longer contemporary. * I love the word "dialogue" as a verb. It connotates, to me, discussion rather than debate and a conversation that was about understanding the other rather than proving one's point. The funniest thing is that I probably make all these mistakes multiple times a day!

OH! I am really bad now about mixing up my "ei" and "ie" in words like "receive" or "believe." Before I became so committed to typing, I did just fine. Now that I type so much...and I made that typo too many times...and now it's all mixed up in my fingers/brain. I have to chant the little rhyme to myself, lol

Oooh, I don't like being called Ms. Michelle. Michelle or Ms./Mrs. Scates. I have no idea why this one bugs me. And, it's just with my name. If you want to be called Ms./Mr. First Name, thats fine. LOL. ~Michelle

Flusterated = Flustered and frustrated at the same time. I didn't think people really used that word until I heard a couple of people say, "I am so flustrated!"

"choose which hill to die on" "pick your battles" I have heard these especially in regards to parenting. I don't think that I have ever felt like I had to do either of those things, and they just sound so negative. I am not at war with my kids. I prefer to think of us as a team, and it is my job to teach them how to reach their goals within the boundaries of God's word.

I don't know how "new" it is, but I hate when people say "I called in to work because I was sick" Maybe it's a regional thing because the first few jobs I had in the area where I grew up that was called "calling out" not "calling in" because you were going to be OUT of work that day ETA: The person that came in to replace the person who was scheduled to be there was "called in"
