Another big week for Donna. This is Jason's final week and final performance with GV on Saturday night. Hope Donna can take two weeks in a row of loosing a favorite artist.

Jason's farewell performance - August 2, First Baptist Church, Morristown, TN.

Donna will be fine. But, I'm really talking to myself about NOT doing a bunch of boo-hooing at the concert. I'm reminding myself that this is a celebration of his years with GV, not a funeral!

Are y'all going to the final concert, Bobby?

Gonna have to pass on this one. You be sure to carry plenty of hankies.
I see later on they are gonna be in Hiawassee, GA.

I'll be seeing them in Powder Springs on the 15th. Not sure that I can make it to Hiawassee on Sunday, though. I'll have to talk to my driver since I can't drive at night! (Sissy, can we go???)

From GV newsletter:

Greetings!

This is not your normal, weekly, Email Update. This week, we say goodbye to our tenor of thirteen years, Jason Waldroup. He's not just a tenor... oh no... for the last thirteen years, we've developed friendships that will last a lifetime. Really, our relationships have been more like family, since we've actually been together on the bus more than we've been with our families.

Jason moves on to begin a new phase of ministry with our good friends at Central Baptist Church in Katy, Texas, as well as beginning his education at Louisiana Baptist University. He has an exciting and challenging life ahead of him, and we are so proud of him!

Please join us in praying for Jason, Missy, Abbie, Jonathon, and yet-to-be-born, Ella Claire, as they begin this new journey.

We love you guys!

Waiting in the wings is Jacob Kitson, our new tenor, who will sing his first full-concerts with us beginning next week. We are excited to have Jacob on board, and we believe God has some great things planned for us as we move ahead! We are excited about the future, and we can't wait for you to meet Jacob, as he settles in to life on the road with us. You're gonna love him!

This Is It!

Jason's last two concerts with Greater Vision will take place this weekend. After more than 1,300,000 highway miles and nearly 2500 concerts, Jason finishes his tenure with us on Saturday night in our hometown of Morristown, Tennessee.

Here's where we'll be:
Friday - Marion, NC Rally Park
(888) 238-6858

Saturday - Morristown, TN
1st Baptist Church (423) 586-0522

We will have to miss the Morristown concert as we purchased tickets for the Mull sing before finding out about it.

To beat all, today a friend offered us free tickets to Jason's farewell at 1st Baptist.

We are on the aisle around row N, probably on the left aisle as you view the stage.

If you don't remember, we look like this:

I guess it's official now - Jason has sung his last concert as the tenor for Greater Vision. Santa has already posted in the "recent concerts" thread, but I just thought I'd post a little bit here. It really was a great evening and a wonderful send-off for Jason. There were people there from 20 states but we didn't get the final attendance figure. And for those who were wondering whether Jacob would sing tonight, he sang one song with Gerald and Rodney --- Little Is Much.

I'll post more later . . .

Wonderful, wonderful "last time" concert with Jason. The evening definitely exceeded all of my expectations. I posted my comments in the "recent concerts" thread, so if you want a few details, be sure to check it out. I love Jason and will really miss him. I am praying that he finds real JOY in the next phase of his ministry.

And, let me be the first on the forums to .....

WELCOME, JACOB KITSON!

I was told before ordering my tickets last Monday that there was less than 50 tickets available. So I am sure it was almost a sellout.
And most people were from out of town. Gerald asked for a show of hands from people that did not live in Morristown. Probably 90% were from out of town.

Oh, oh, gotta make a post in Kerr's thread about the gas prices over there. Lot lower that here in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge.

Very good, Dinana! Dare I say it??? GV now reminds me of L5 in their Tony Jarman days.....

Or maybe it was just the song.

Interesting - I didn't hear that. I guess I'll go back and listen again!

Here's another clip I've put together. Not much singing, but it does cover a lot of the tribute to Jason.

My understanding is Missy may have to stay here until the baby is born. Doctors don't want her traveling that far so close to the birth. Jason don't quite understand that. and she has not been able to get a doctor in Texas so it would be going to emergency room for the birth if she was in Texas which is not the best scenario. So pray that all this works out for them.

Oh, my goodness!!!

For those of you who don't get Greater Vision's e-newsletter, let me tell you that Gerald has posted pictures and the video from the Jason farewell concert! They are wonderful! Click here to go to the Gallery page to make your selections! (Be patient while it loads.) I love the ending section of the video that shows Jason singing God Wants to Hear You Sing. We didn't see that section on Saturday night because GV sang it live. I also love the picture where Gerald is presenting GV's old "backdrop" to Jason! What a wonderful tribute!

From what Gerald said in the update, it sounds like Missy was able to travel to Texas after all. Thank God!!
