What a homecoming day. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Bennett and the family. I can't help but hear the song in my mind "Sweet Anointing." Our family will miss Roger very much.

I'm from Wi., and my family feels sick inside about Roger Bennett passing away. We know he's with thethe Lord and all his great singing buddies from the past. We saw him many times at concerts in Wi., and he was always a blessing. Prayers for Debbie and his family, the Lord will give them all much strength in the days and mo's. to follow. Please pray for Legacy Five guys Scott Fowler was Roger's best friend for over 10 yrs., I'm sure they are shocked and depressed too. He will be greatly missed. Linda & family from Wi.

I consider Roger a dear friend. Because of his friendship with my mother and another senior saint, I had the opportunity to get to know this dear man. His influence on my life has been one that I am only beginning to understand. From his songs, to his writing, to the way he closed his letters, He was an inspiration. My wife and I send our deepest condolences to those left behind, Doug, Debbie, Chelsea and Jordan. The upcoming days will be ones filled with joy and laughter as you remember the great times with him. There will also be sorrow, but temper that sorrow with the knowledge that there is no more pain and He is finally home with His Lord. May God continue to bless your ministries and your lives.

In God's Grip,
John

I, too am praying for the Roger Bennett family. Roger has experienced the ultimate healing in his homegoing. His family and Southern gospel family will truly miss this fine Christian man.

The Ultimate Healing

"Home Free, Oh I've got a feeling, At the ultimate healing, we will be home free!"

One of Roger's favorite songs to sing, and now he knows the whole truth about it. This morning, at about 8:30 a.m., he left his battle here on earth to rejoice in Heaven for eternity.

It has, naturally, been a very hard couple of days for those of us left behind. However, I am overwhelmed by the grace God has poured out on me. I feel a multitude of emotions simultaneously: grief, heartache, and sadness, surely, but also an immeasusrable portion of comfort and peace which I can't explain any other way but God's grace.

It became evident a few days ago that the only earthly way out of this situation for Roger was going to be a miracle. By yesterday evening, it was evident that the way out for him was going to be a Heavenly miracle. I can only imagine what lies in store for him there! How must it feel to hear those words spoken by the Father: "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"

In the following days and weeks, I plan to share with you all some of the "God things" that have happened these last few days.

The comments I read on this web site have been of such comfort and encouragement to me. So many of you have said that you felt that Roger's work isn't done here yet. I agree! The legacy he has left behind will go on forever, and there are several projects that he has begun that I feel called to carry out - including keeping this web site up so that I can continue to share his message with many.

Arrangements are pending at this point, but will be made public as soon as they are finalized. Preliminary plans are to have a celebration service and burial in Tennessee, and a later memorial service in his hometown of Strawberry, AR.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the prayers and love you show. The next few days will be difficult for us all, but we will make it through God's strength.

As for Roger, he has finally realized his ultimate goal, to be forever

IN HIS GRIP!

Debbie

Hi all,
A couple years back I made this for an Easter email. I thought I would share it with you. The only way I had to share it was through my ebay "ME" page, I just put it back up, so click the link and then click on the "ME" next to my user ID. This now brings it home more than ever, our Roger has seen His nailed scarred hands!

My son has a form of autism and he was pretty upset when I told him about Roger this morning. He has been watching our L5 DVD's and listening to L5 CD's all day. He has also been talking about seeing Roger at a concert last August and repeating word for word everything that Roger said during the performance. A few months back we received a post card from L5 about a concert that they were having in our area. My son has been carrying that post card around all day because it has Roger's picture on it and he's been reading our copy of the L5 family album. All of this is his way of dealing with his grief.

I can tell he is hurting a great deal and I so wish I could take that hurt away. I did manage to get a smile out of him when I told him that Roger was in Heaven and once again singing with Glen and George. It was almost as if my son could really see it.

This is definitely going to be a rough few days for all of us. We need to keep praying for Roger's family, his friends, and for each other.

Praise God! Another Soldier has made it home! I was so saddened to hear of Roger's passing but also full of joy to learn that he is with his Lord. I can see him running up the golden street and hugging Glenn and George and then running on to bow at the feet of Jesus. What a wonderful sight that must have been! Dear Debbie... I pray for your peace and that your heart is healed by our Savior's touch. I know the next few weeks/months will be so hard and I pray that God will be your strength and courage at this time. May our Lord wrap His arms around you and your dear children. God Bless You. Brenda

Today is certainly a very sad, but a happy day too. Roger faught the fight, ran the race, and HE won! No more pain, no suffering, no cancer! His testimony will live on forever. Roger was such a witness for God through this disease. His faith never faltered. My prayers go up for Debbie, the children, and the rest of his family, also to the members of L5 and the many fans and friends, myself included. I will always treasure the many chats I've had with him over the years.

When someone so young and talented in working for the Lord is taken it always saddens those of us who are left behind. But as others have said, our loss on earth is his reward in Heaven. I was fortunate to get to see Roger several times, both with the Cathedrals and later with Legacy Five. Roger, your legacy will be with us for a long time. Our prayers go out to your family and fellow group members.

My heart goes out to the family that is left to mourn roger bennetts passing. I lost my dad 8 yrs. ago and sometimes it's still hard to bare. You think u hear them laugh, talk and pray. My prayer for the family in the days and years ahead is that God will give them peace that passeth all understanding. Phil 4:7. John 14:18 To the many fans and friends of Roger Bennett, read Psalms 121:1,2. Sometimes part of the grieving process is you feel guilty for being alive when your loved one has passed away. Everyone needs to pray that God will build a hedge around the family and keep thier minds focused on the good things and that Roger is where he longed to be. To all the friends and fans, i hope these scriptures help you and encourage you. May God Bless each and everyone on you..

I have not been on the forums for a long time. I too am amazed as I have watched the numbers grow in a short time. I do not know if this has happened at any other time like this. But it shows the respect that Southern Gospel fans have for Roger bennett. He will be missed.

What a legacy Roger has left! His family is and will continue to be in my prayers! He has received the ultimate healing! Wow...what a reunion and what a time all of our SGM heroes are having up in Heaven! Won't it be wonderful up there? Heaven will be worth it after all! The gift of Jesus and salvation and a reunion with all those that have gone before us...thank you, Lord for all of this and so much more!

My heart grieves for the loss of a wonderful christian, artist, and friend. I first met Roger when he began with the Cathedrals. I always enjoyed the friendly banter between he and I. One of my fonest memories will always be the evening at the Garden Spot Blue Mountain Sing in Kempton, PA when I was MCing and set it up with the audience to say an enthusiastic "NO" when George asked if they wanted to hear Roger sing. I will never forget the look on his face! It didn't take long for him to figure out who set him up. He even managed to get back at me while he was singing The Back of The Book. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the southern gospel community. What a reunion it must be! Praise God!

Truly Heaven has gotten a little (no--a lot) more sweeter for me since yesterday. The Bible says lay treasures up for yourself in Heaven where moth and rust can't corrupt or thieves steal, but do precious saints count? Roger was a treasure to me here, and now he is There .....for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.....yes, Heaven truly is sweeter now.
