Seen Mark Trammell Trio, The Perrys, and The Whisnants this past saturday night(2/23) in Douglas, GA. This was the first time that I seen the Whisnants in concert. They did an awesome job and their pianist is crazy...lol and can really play...lol.
Mark Trammell Trio did good. They sung a combination of old and new songs. Mark and Bill Bailey handled the emcee job and they did a good job.
The Perrys did awesome as always. Did alot of old songs and their new hit song, "Holy Shore", what a powerful song. Troy Peach did an awesome job on sound, but when they was doing the ending on "Holy Shore", the track starting skipping and repeating itself but it didnt affect them at all. Matthew Holt did an AWESOME job as well.

Well Greater Vision was awesome Saturday night.
The presence of the Lord was felt by all. Gerald had new stories to tell and we all laughed till we cried. The evening ended with Rodney giving us such a blessing then Gerald sang Champion of Love.. It dont get much better than that Donna

Bill, thanks for your excellent reviews.

It's the next best thing to being there (except for hearing a tape, of course).

Heard last night from Whisnants that Templeton was cutting out Jubilee at Sea cruise next year. They are just having one. They have a harger ship that will carry 2200 instead of the 1700 one and going to Mexico departing Tampa.

We went to see Gold City at the Marion, IL. First Church of God tonite. The large church was pretty much full, including the balcony. This was the first appearance by Gold City at Marion since about 3 years ago, if I am not mistaken, and their fans turned out. We were shocked to see that Jonathon was not with them and a new lead singer was introduced. We really like Jonathon's singing, thought he was a big part of the Gold City sound, and hated to see him gone. After recovering from a mild pout about this we enjoyed the concert.
They sang a mixture of GC hits from the 90's as well as some songs from their latest album. Aaron McCune was featured quite a bit on some of Tim Riley's old bass lead songs, such as Under Control. Bruce Taliferro, their new lead, did a good job, although he did not come across like Jonathon on some of Jon's signature songs. It is probably unfair to compare new singers with old singers on the old singers' songs, but it is human nature to do so. For example, Aaron is not as smooth as Tim, but is very good in his own right. Bruce created the most excitement of the night with the old hymn, When He Calls Me I'll Fly Away.
Danny gave a moving testimony about his brother's untimely passing, leading into Doug's song, Are You Ready. My only negative on the night, I thought they let a person traveling with them talk a bit long about a cause called Gospelink. I am not making any implication about the cause, just that I thought the appeal was a bit too lengthy. Over all, it was another great night of SG music and worship.
I usually do not do this in a review, but tonite I jotted down a list of the songs they did during the concert. It follows:
If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us; After Awhile; Look Who Just Checked In; I'm Not Anymore; intro and piano solo; Teach Me Lord To Wait; About The Cross; Mercy Came Running (this one sounded a bit CC, but they followed it up with pure SG) I'm Not Giving Up; Under Control; I Believe; Truth Is Marching On; When He Calls Me I'll Fly Away; break and love offering; In My Robe of White; Midnite Cry; Are You Ready; and Preach the Word.

Talley Trio was very good last night. They sang old songs, new songs and inbetween songs. I don't keep a list just enjoy the singing. They have a couple of new videos out. The one that was filmed in Gainesville, GA was out. We were at that taping and it was a great evening.

I'm home from an Ivan Parker concert in Alabama this evening. It was wonderful. Hope's Journey opened for him and I hadn't heard them before. They had some problems with their sound and never did get their balance right, but I think they've got a lot of potential. Ivan was great. I don't get to see him very often and he's not going to be with the Gaither group here in Atlanta in April, so I'm glad I got to go see him. I got a lot of video clips, so I'll try to get those posted tomorrow afternoon.

Honestly, it was not his best song. He seemed to have a little bit of a voice problem about mid-way through it after the key change, but he recovered nicely and finished the song strong. He has a good voice and stage presence, and I think he fits in with the other guys just fine. He stepped down off the stage on "When He Calls Me, I'll Fly Away", and he had the whole crowd really into the song. (Interesting that the song with the biggest reaction is an older church hymn.) One other thing I failed to mention in my above post, I do believe last night was the only time when I have seen any version of Gold City that they did not do "When I Get Carried Away".

Here's my update on the Ivan Parker concert last night. I think this was the first Ivan concert I've been to where he didn't sing Midnight Cry! Actually, he just did a chorus from it on the end of Home At Last from his new album Inseparable. He ended the concert with When I Get Carried Away- one of my very favorites.

Here are the videos I've posted. I actually got a couple more, but I guess I ran into some kind of size limit with the editting software, so I'm not going to post them right now. Maybe I'll be able to post them later since they're two of my favorites - I Choose and Love Called My Name.

I'll post one more when it finally gets done. . . .

It was CCM, originally, and it was done by the CCM group Phillips, Craig, & Dean, but GC covered it on Revival.

It wasn't a very high stage, maybe 2-1/2 feet at the most? I got there an hour early and the best seat I could get was on the aisle of row 6 or 7 on the side rather than the center section. Ivan did a good job of trying to face each side as much as he could.

I was gonna post it on the Myspace thread but here it is. I got a tee shirt at the concert last night. It says:

Jesus has reserved
myspace
in heaven.

and on the back:

And Ivan is on my
Friends list

I thought that was pretty clever. I asked Ivan about it, and he doesn't have a MySpace. . .

Saw Aaron & Amanda Crabb last night and they were AWESOME! Aaron was preaching down the house and Amanda's testimony was so GOD! Yep, I did mean GOD! You'd just have to hear it. Their singing was also GREAT!

I went to a concert tonight of a local group called "The Shepherd's Staff". I heard them 3 weeks ago and very much enjoyed them so I went back tonight to listen to them again. It was as good the second time as the first. They sing alot of the older songs with only a keyboard player, but they do have tracks for some songs that they use. If you ever have the chance to hear them I would tell you to go. I'm sure you will like them as much as I have.
