ORIGINAL: Dinana I went to hear Gold City at a worship service today at a local church. It turned out that they sang the whole service instead of just a few songs. They were great and I got to meet a couple of very nice fans from Tennessee who came down to see Gold City. Most of the songs were from their Revival CD. It was a great concert, and I was surprised (and pleased) to also hear some much older stuff..... They opened with When The Holy Ghost Showed Up We'll Have Church, which I'd never heard live before. Also, Under Control (Aaron is AWESOME) and In Time, On Time, Every Time.

Last night, I went with Bobby and Carol York to Mt Holly Church of God in Carrollton, GA for the 3rd annual Gold City/Diplomats concert. It was a packed house, and it was one of the BEST concerts I've attended in some time. The Diplomats opened, and an improved sound system paid off BIG TIME as Carrollton's Finest delivered the best they have, which is always AWESOME. And Rita, as always , was awesome. Jonathan Wilburn confirmed this at the end of the concert. Gold City opened with When The Holy Ghost Shows Up, We'll Have Church, which turned out to be very prophetic. From there, it only got better, as Gold City did what they do best.....sing their HEARTS OUT. At the end of the concert, Jon Wilburn led the most powerful and annointed altar call I've ever witnessed. He was absolutely on FIRE. The Diplomats joined Gold City on stage and sang Just As I Am and There's Something About That Name. Several people came to the altar, and there was a lot of deliverance and many, many needs were met. "Ain't That What It's All About?" I got a few pictures, which you can see HERE

Foster and I took my Mom to see The Diplomats at Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston, GA tonight. My Mom has some kinfolk that attend that church. The singing was sponsored by EBC's ladies group. I think their name is "Wings As Eagles", or something like that. This was the first time the church has had a Southern Gospel concert. Shelly, the young lady in charge had recently heard The Diplomats and The Booth Brothers. I'm pretty sure it was one of her experiences ever with SGM. The concert was in conjunction with their frequent 'Sweet Fellowship' socials, where they serve desserts in the Atrium of their church campus. They usually have some form of entertainment. If tonight was any indication, it won't be their last time to have SGM!! There was a great crowd -- mostly just their church people -- and a few close friends of The Dips that had found out about the date. The Dips won the crowd over pretty quickly with some smooth and easy family-style singing and then some of their hilarious Male Quartet humor. Jim's "American Idol" segment is SO funny! But by & by, they led the people to a sweet worshipful attitude and finally, had them on their feet with some good ole Hand-Clappin', Foot-Stompin', Glory, Hallelujah!-Shoutin', "Gone-To-Meetin' Style singing. For those naysayers that think that "The Contemporary Crowd" wouldn't like "Southern Gospel"-- You just oughta been where I was tonight. These people were 'Ate Up' with it!! Over 80% of the people raised their hand when Jimmy asked for those who had never heard SGM to do so. Most everyone came out saying that they LOVED it, and would be looking for the next concert in area. Just goes to show that when it's don't right, most everyone likes it. Oh, yeah. There were a bunch of kids there that fell in love with SGM, tonight, too! That was a tremendous blessing!!

Drove three hours to Lima, Ohio to see Legacy Five tonight. It was definitely worth the six hour round trip and was the second time in 12 days that we have seen them! They were fantastic as usual. Honestly, I can't think of anything to say about these guys that I haven't already said. They are, IMO, the best SG group out there right now. Those who have seen them know what I mean. Those who haven't really should see them at the first opportunity. You won't be disappointed. These guys put on a great performance every time. The songs are great, the humor is fantastic (even Tim Parton made a funny tonight), and most importantly they are spreading the gospel. They are also about the nicest bunch of guys I have ever met. Each of them takes the time to talk with the fans, sign autographs, and pose for pictures, and you can tell they enjoy it, whether they have seen you a dozen times, are meeting you for the first time, or anything in between.

I'm glad you and your son enjoyed it so much! I know that when I get to go to a really good concert, it "fuels" me for a l-o-n-g time!!! I've just made one little change in your write-up. I'm sure that's what you meant!!!! LOL! Oh, and Jeff...... I posted a You Tube video clip of Roger singing "Heroes of the Faith" over in the L5 thread. You really should go see it!! It really made my morning!

We saw the Inspriations last night. They were the only scheduled group, and they sang for about an hour and forty five minutes. I listened to that great INSPRIATION sound I've loved for many years! Archie sounded wonderful - full and strong. I felt he struggled some at NQC, but there was absolutely no sign of that last night. They brought 'The Kid' (is it Darrell?) out to sing several songs. Beulah Land was one, and although someone sitting near said "Hey, that's Archie's song,' "The Kid' did a great job. Myron and Jack were not with them...Martin said they had 'this stuff that's going around.' A young military man was there who's been depoyed to Iraq twice. He testified of leading a group of young soldiers who were frightened. If I understood correctly, they were traveling to Baghdad in an amphibious tank at night and some of them were crying for their moms, families, etc. He wtinessed to them, telling them the One to cry out to was the One who could help them where they were. He played Rock of Ages (Inspirations) over and over and it was a comfort to them. ***Martin said they would be on the cover of Singing News in May.

Bobby and Carol York, Dinana and I saw The Old Paths in Kennesaw tonight. It was a great concert, and a sweet night of ministry by this annointed group. It was so great to see Joe Cox back on the keyboard, and the music was over the top, especially the double high C that Jeremy ended the night with.....WOW. I got some pretty good pictures, and Dinana got some great video, which we'll get posted hopefully on Monday.

I'm almost finished posting the videos of the Old Paths concert. I'll write up my comments and give the links tomorrow. As soon as the last one finishes, I'm going to head to bed . . . . . .

I just came back from the Crabb Revival Concert. Since being out on a work trip for 4 days, its was really nice to hear some good gospel music...crabb style. I will probably make this short considering i'm a bit tired. It was a great night of worship with the crabb revival! There was a really good crowd for the concert. The crabb revival started off with "runaway train" and then went into a "i go to the rock". They mixed it up and did a crabb family medly of songs (which is terrific)! The crabb revival has a sound of their own. Its a fusion of the newer crabb sound with the sounds of the old style crabb family. The crabb revival went on to do a mix of popular crabb songs (including through the fire), songs from blur the lines, and runaway train (really good cd!). One thing that really makes me appreciate the crabbs is the sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and how He is leading in the service. It was about 4 or 5 songs into the set when Adam started ministering to the audience...then people started coming to the altars. Adam said that they will sing some more songs, but he felt led to do an altar call. From young kids to teens to adults to seniors were in the altars praying, crying. Tarah and Adam even went down in shifts and prayed for people. The CR got back up and sang some more great songs and then the concert was over. The concert lasted for about 1hr 45 min. Great Night!!

I had another great southern gospel weekend. On Saturday evening and Sunday morning I saw Triumphant. We went to the little middle-Georgia town of Unadilla Saturday. Many of the people at the concert had never heard Triumphant in person and they such got a treat that evening. They've started doing the song You Gotta Love It in their program and I sure enjoyed hearing it in person. They also sang Don't Let the Sandals Fool Ya; One Day at a Time; Forgave Me, Saved Me, Raised Me; Goodbye, World, Goodbye (David and Jeff - piano and harmonica); Sunday School Medley (the audience really got into singing the "Daddy sang bass, Momma sang tenor parts!!); The Old White Flag; Jeff Stice - When They Ring Those Golden Bells and Hallelujah Chorus; The Great I Am Still Is; Jesus Saves (Jeff - offertory); Long Black Train; When Morning Sweeps The Eastern Sky (a capella); God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (a capella - the audience loved the first a capella song, so they sang this one, too); a medley of several older songs with just piano; Amazing Grace (David and Jeff); People Need the Lord; and He Is. It was a wonderful service. Triumphant also sang about 30 minutes at two worship services Sunday morning in northeast Georgia. They did mostly the same songs and were very well received the Concord Baptist church where they sing every year. I'll be putting some video on youtube tonight from the Saturday concert. Then, as JimC mentioned, we saw The Old Paths Quartet last night. They didn't have the bass guitar and drums last night but Joe Cox was really tearing it up on the keyboard! This service was at an elementary school less than 2 miles from my house, which was especially nice after all the driving to see Triumphant! This group is really good and I enjoy them more every time I see them. They were very tired from their weekend travels but they gave it all they had for this worship service. Here's what they sang: Hallelujah, I'm Going Home - VIDEO Little Is Much - Jeremy Peace has such a pretty, pure tone on this song Oh Bless His Name - VIDEO ; when you watch these videos, let me know if you think their lead singer (Tim Rackley) sounds like Shane Dunlap. I think he's an outstanding lead. Somebody Touched the Lord - VIDEO Goodbye, World, Goodbye (medley) - great keyboard solo by Joe Cox - VIDEO I've Missed Out - VIDEO He'll See You Through - written by bass singer Brandon Barry - beautiful song - VIDEO Look for Me at Jesus' Feet - Jeremy was great on this one, too Living In Canaan Now - this is the one Jeremy hit a double high C on - but I didn't catch it on video - but I will next time!

Good video coverage Dinana. Glad you got a front row seat. There's no bobbling heads in front of you. Tim kinda looks like Shane in his posture and height.

It was good to meet you last night. And it truly was a wonderful concert and a very friendly, inviting church. And spread the word, The Old Paths have just booked next Sunday night at a church near Gainesville (Finally! We've been trying to get them up here for a year and a half!). It isn't on their website yet, but as far as I know, it's at Mt. Carmel Baptist in Lula, GA. Thanks for all the videos!
