I went to a great concert last night with The Old Paths and Kingdom Heirs. It was a rainy, yukky evening but the auditorium had to have been close to capacity. I'm a terrible guesser but I would think that there were about 300-400 seats. I was able to swap my ticket and get a seat in the middle of the third row and I really didn't look back but once or twice but it seemed pretty full to me. I'll try to get something written up today but it might be late this afternoon. I did get some video, too, but haven't had time to look at it much less post it anywhere.

Dinana the seating capacity of Copeland Hall is 500. There must have been a great crowd there with the weather like it was. Sorry you're gonna have to work tomorrow night. We'll miss you.

Just got in from seeing Georgia, Mark Trammell Trio and the Perrys - what a great concert! Libbi was a little under the weather but she sang her heart out! It was a fun night - the Lord ministered in many parts of the concert but we also laughed a lot!!! Got to meet a couple of folks that lurk here most of the time with only an occasional post and it was so nice to meet them! At the end the 3 groups came together and sang some old favorites, you could feel the spirit of the Lord. More when I have more time!

Here are my comments about the Old Paths/Kingdom Heirs concert Thursday night. Old Paths had about 30 or 35 minutes of the program and they sang really well. Kingdom Heirs also did well. They had never been to this location in Georgia and I know the people in this area really appreciated the promoter finally getting them there! I saw some ladies at the concert that I know live about 60 or more miles away. I've put 13 videos up of this concert on youtube, so you can see them by using the link in my siggy but I'm not gonna list all of the url's for you this time!! Here's what they sang. Several of my titles are guesses since I'm not as familiar with all of the song of these groups. Old Paths: 1. Cloud By Day, Fire By Night 2. Heavenly Home (I don't think this is the right title but it's what I wrote down - the camera messed up on this one so I didn't get a video) 3. Little Is Much 4. Oh, Bless His Name Intros came at this point. They had the same live band here that they did at the Hamill Memorial concert - their new/former pianist Joe Cox, Joey Peace on drums, and I don't remember the bass guitarist's name. 5. Won't It Be Wonderful There - this was a capella and was very pretty 6. Love Will Roll the Clouds Away - also not the correct title, but it's some of the words --- someone please correct me!! I didn't video this one. 7. Love Lifted Me. The lead singer Tim Rackley reminds me so much of Shane Dunlap on this one! Actually, he is kind of a cross between Shane and Josh Feemster. This was a nice version of the song. 8. When I Wake Up to Sleep No More 9. Look For Me At Jesus' Feet - Jeremy does a great job on this. 10. Saints Will Rise Kingdom Heirs: 1. Since Jesus Moved In 2. ??? 3. Looking Out for You 4. The Day Before He Saved Me 5. God's Word 6. The Rock's Between the Hard Place and You 7. Anchor of Hope 8. I Want You to Know 9. Band -- played I'm Getting Ready to Leave This World and I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas! Steve said something about the band being in heaven and playing for the heavenly choir (since they won band of the year for the last 4 years and now there isn't that award so their title still stands) and Kreis came back that if they did, they'd try to let Steve know about it! Got a lot of laughs. 10. What We Needed - I love that song! I didn't stay for all of the second part but I saw (and videoed) the following OP: 1. Somebody Touched the Lord 2. Is This What You Had In Mind? 3. Living In Canaan Now 4. Saints Will Rise - I recorded this version KH: 1. Mighty Deep Well

Thanks, Wayne. I like that song so much. Daniel - I'll have to ask about the band. I know that Joe is back on piano permanently but I don't know about the other guys.

I think the're gonna use the band when they are in this area and doing the Kingsmen songs. On the drums is Jeremy's brother and the bass player is kinda a friend of Tim's. I think he works on their bus.

first off dinana- thanks for posting those great vids! I went last night to the Exalting Him concert in Jacksonville, fl. The artist lineup was: Calvary's Voice, Ivan Parker, The Greenes, and the Kingdom Heirs. To give some background...the promotion of this concert was REALLY GOOD! Kudos to G &G PROMOTIONS. Great, professional sounding radio spots! Not just "we're havin a sangin with the kangdom airs from pigion forge...ya'll come out" But it sounded like they hired a voice over guy. They had advertisements and everything. and from the turnout, it was a BIG SUCCESS. I would estimate that there was between 1500-2000 people. The floor section of the church was pretty much full. The balcony was closed. There was a great mixture of the young and older alike! The concert was slated to start at 7 pm. Before the concert there was 2 performers. One was the Mike Hammondtree family and the other a soloist that i can not remember the name. I arrived toward the end of the Hammondtree's set but did hear the young lady . They both did a great job. Mike Hammondtree is an EXCELLENT pianist. The concert did not start officially till around 7:20. The kingdom heirs were up first. They did about 40 minutes or so. They mostly did songs from their "true to the call" project. Much of the set list that Dinana posted was what the Kingdom Heirs chose to sing. Of course, there was some variation. The kingdom heirs did an EXCELLENT JOB! Great singing, great musicians...the total package of a southern gospel quartet! Next up was calvary's voice, they are a group from out of Jacksonville. They did a good job. Their tenor is a really good tenor. His style is like david phelps (we talked bout him in the "next david phelps thread"). They sang a mix of some known songs, songs from their first project, and a few from their upcoming release. Jeff Chapman, bass singer for the KH and the baritone of CV's brother, came and sang bass on "living in Canaan". There was some sound problems on that particular song though :(. They ended with their new single "he's already in your tomorrow". After that was a preacher who got up there and gave a very quick sermon (10 minutes max) and an invitation in the middle of the concert. The Greenes were up next and did a nice mix of songs from their last few cd's and their new one. Their new cd is really good. The Greenes did a few songs with just piano...mostly old hymns and choruses. Ivan Parker was last and sang songs out of his catalog of ivan songs haha. Surprisingly, since Ivan had reached the stage about 10 pm, the audience was still at least 75% full. I had to leave the concert before ivan finished. To be perfectly honest though i had a GREAT time i left a feeling a bit underwhelmed. I question some of the moves during the concert. From talking to some folks, most of them came to see the KH. I was surprised that they were first on the program followed by Calvary's Voice. It seemed that Ivan Parker and KH had the biggest response, so i would have saved the 2 for last to build at least crowd anticipation lol. It was almost like going to a wrestling or boxing event and seeing the main event first and then watching the undercard. Just kidding...sorta. The preacher mid concert was a little different, but he did not "take away" from the concert! It just seemed to change the direction for a moment. Overall a great night of southern gospel. I had fun, the audience had fun and the gospel was spread. Can't knock that. The ticket price was 15.00 and not a bad deal considering who was there! I will now open up the floor for questions....:)

I was not there last night. I live in Jacksonville and fully agree that the radio spots were very well done, and sounded like the concert would be a step above what we normally get locally. I went to a Bill Bailey concert here in Jax early in January and saw Mike and Kelly, The Kingsmen, The Perrys, and BF&A.....in that order....short sets, then intermission, then they all did another 2-3 song set in the same order as before. i really liked the way that night flowed. One of the reasons I did not go is that i saw the Greenes and the Calvarys voice lead singer in concert at a local church several months ago. I see Ivan Parker at the homecoming concert every year, and we have The Singing Echoes, The Martins, MTT, Inspirations all in seperate concerts locally this month. I don't like a concert broken up by preaching, or too much talking by the performers etc....so the advertised sermon did not appeal to me. Souns like it was a good time and i am glad it was well attended. I am sure the promoters worked hard to make it a great night. I do agree that putting the KH's and Ivan Parker on after intermission or the preacher would have made more sense.

He brings the same show every january , the Kingsmen, BF&A, the Perrys.....and he didn't run radio spots until the day of the show. if you are not on his mailing list or don't read the singing news you would not have know about the concert. I am not knocking Bill Bailiey because being a promoter is "risky business" in todays economy. I wouldn't want to take the risk and end up losing money.

Had a great time last night at the concert in Powder Springs. The Garner Family wasn't able to be there due to illness of Scott Garner. Seems he's having what a lot of what other folks on here is having. Couldn't talk or sing. Enlisted and Hopes Journey took up the slack. Both of the groups did an outstanding job. A resonable crowd was there. Had another concert going on within five miles. It was good to see Norma Crews wife of the late Bob Crews there along with JimC. Sure Jim will be posting later about the concert and give more details. The older Trent, the bass singer for Hopes Journey gets the better he sounds. He's just 18 now, started singing with them when he was 15. He really gets down on those bass notes and was featured on several songs.

Last night(Sat.) I attended the Dove Brothers Homecoming, Bladenboro NC in a packed house! I cannot say enough here how great this sing was and do it justice! Larry DeLawder as Barney fife and his harmonica playing was awesome! As usual, the Dove Brothers were wonderful and in full form along with the Dixie Melody Boys. We have enjoyed all the Dove homecomings but this one was probably the best. Plans are being made for next years which promises to be great also!!!

ORIGINAL: sgpianoman I went last night to the Exalting Him concert in Jacksonville, fl. The artist lineup was: Calvary's Voice, Ivan Parker, The Greenes, and the Kingdom Heirs. I missed it...had the flu. We purchased tickets, and then won two more on Thursday morning. I had just turned the radio on in my car when I called in for the contest, and thought they were for a different concert. So I told them they had another opportunity to give them away! I, too, was surprised (and saddened) with the low turnout at the Bill Bailey concert earlier in January. I was unaware the announcements didn't begin until the day of, but that may be because I'd had it on my calendar a couple of months. It was a good concert though...the artists sang as though the house was full.

I went to hear Gold City at a worship service today at a local church. It turned out that they sang the whole service instead of just a few songs. They were great and I got to meet a couple of very nice fans from Tennessee who came down to see Gold City. Most of the songs were from their Revival CD.

Sorry that you were under the weather for the concert, Grammy K! Well I had a WONDERFUL day of southern gospel music. Not only did i get to see the booth brothers but i found out that Brian Free and Assurance was within a very reasonable driving distance (lake city area) so I snuck away and saw them! Booth Brothers- The booth bros were at the Westside Baptist church for their SUPER SUNDAY celebration. The concert was at 1:00 pm. There was a really good crowd for the concert. Westside is a large church, so i would imagine there was 700-800 or more people. I could be off from where i was sitting. Nevertheless, It was great! I had not had a chance to see a full booth brothers concert until today. I have seen them with the Homecoming Tour, but seeing them in a concert was a real treat. The guys sang for at least a solid hour or a little over. While I can't remember the entire set list, heres some highlights: *Thank Him for the Miracle *Blind Man Saw it all * I would (ronnie solo) * The Night before Easter All in all it was a great mix of songs from their past 4 cds. They didn't do too many from the "carry on " cd. I enjoyed every song that they performed. Not only do they have a great heart for ministry, they are really friendly people! I enjoyed it throughly. ------------------------------------------------------- Brian Free and Assurance- As i said before, BFA was about an hour or so away from me. They sang at the Wellborn Baptist Church. For a superbowl sunday they had a tremendous turnout! The crowd was ready for some great singing from BFA. Its always great to show up to a church where the people are ready for some singing! BFA was nothing but class and excellence in singing the whole time. Not only great singing, but brian and the guys took time to minister and share from their heart. Brian almost broke out preaching...not suprising since he's an ordained minister haha. I always enjoy seeing BFA in a worship service concert, because you can really see the focus on ministry Brian and the guys have. They went through alot of songs from the Praying Man project and Its so God. They mixed up , of course, some old favorites. Highlights (which there were MANY!) *I keep looking up *Praying man (brian hit the ceiling on that one haha) *Jesus will pick you up *If it takes a valley * For God so loved *Long as I got king Jesus *Its all about the Blood and many more. Once again BFA always proves why they are (if not) one of the TOP groups in SG! And i'll try to post this in the other thread...they gave brian a chance to tell about the ministry costs. Bfa came on soley a love offering. Great day and night of southern gospel music!
