Yesterday was one for the record books.
Plans had been in place for a couple of weeks for me to see Mercy's Mark for the first time in Lawrenceville, GA Sunday night. I was going to meet Dinana and ride with her.
Saturday I found out that MM would be in Hiram on Sunday morning, so I went, unknown to Dinana.
This proved to be my undoing.
I conspired with the guys to have some fun with Dinana at the concert that night.
Dinana and her friend, Vera picked me up and we headed to Lawrenceville that afternoon.
When we arrived in Lawrenceville for my "first" MM concert, the guys swarmed me, called me by
name and treated me like a long lost brother.
I with I'd had a picture of Dinana's face....
"You know him????"
"Oh, yeah, we've been friends for a LONG TIME".

Dinana and Vera are obviously very LOVED by MM, and we had a good laugh.

Yesterday was a day I'll not soon forget. MM was incredible.....
They exceeded anything I could have possibly imagined, and to see TWO full concerts in one day was almost too much to ask.
Plus, I now have not only another favorite quartet but some new good friends.

It's just gonna take me a long time to get out of the doghouse. LOL

OK. I've had a few hours to get over the conspiracy to tease me, so now it's pretty funny. I'm glad Jim got to see them twice!

It was a great concert, but I discovered after I got to the concert that I had forgotten to put my memory card back in my camera, so I didn't get any pictures! I hope Jim will post his, since he was on the front row and should've gotten some great ones. Vera and I decided to sit right behind him on the second row. (We're trying to talk ourselves into not sitting so close because supposedly the sound is better further back -- so we compromised a little bit and sat on the second row!!) I also didn't take my little notebook, so I can't give a list of songs either! I just sat there and enjoyed the whole thing with a silly grin on my face!!! We're going to see them again Saturday night in Oneonta, AL, with the Dixie Echoes and Tim Lovelace. There are lots of MMQ fans there, so we're looking forward to seeing some of the friends we've made from other visits to Alabama to see Mercy's Mark.

That's hilarious.

It was a Lot of fun.....I wish I had a video......
The guys played it SO WELL, and Dinana had NO CLUE.....

For those of you who don't know, Dinana absolutely considers herself Mercy's Mark #1 FAN!!! She routinely drives 3-4 hours to see them when they're that "close" to where she lives. And I'm not kidding! At one concert she went to, Garry Jones actually called her their number 1 fan from the stage! Dinana hasn't been the same since!

That's not quite right --- I call myself their #1 fan (but I've met some others that call themselves #1, too!) --- from the stage Garry said they were singing "All I Need To Know" for their special friend Diana! Garry doesn't call us fans - he calls us friends. That's good enough for me!!

That was so very obvious to me yesterday. Not only from MM, but we also spent some time afterwards with Brandy and Sophia (Mrs Josh Feemster and Mrs Christian Davis)...
She IS their #1 Fan...hands DOWN

I just got in from the Mike Leferve QT homecoming and what a great time we had. Both CS&K and MLQ were making videos. Mike's tenor needs prayer as he 'appeared' to confuse Mike with Mylon LeFerve during the introductions.

After the videos were finished Legacy Five came to the stage. It was my first time to see them since Roger went home. Tim Parton is doing an excellant job!!! I never doubted for a moment he would but the way he fit in surprised me even when I had that confidence. I had not seen LF previously when Tim had filled in but I want to repeat something I posted right after Roger died.

When Anthony died and Tim filled in with Bill Gaither for a short period, my thought was Tim would be the perfect replacement for Anthony. I was somewhat disappointed when I heard someone else was taking that place. But God has a plan and Tim is such a perfect fit for LF.

They provide a perfect showcase for his talents and his abilities on the keyboard add to their stage presence. I have never seen them sing stronger or with more conviction than they did tonight. Scott mentioned their first concert tonight and there were several folks in attendance that were at that first concert. My daughter and I were among those.

I remember that concert well and I had the priviledge of knowing Roger since his beginning with the Cathedrals. I don't believe in heaven we are concerned with the mundane things that are happening here on earth, but I believe if you were and Roger looked down to 'check things out' he would be pleased that Scott honored his wish that Tim be his replacement and that Tim took on that mantle.

The Mercy's Mark concert in Oneonta, AL was wonderful, wasn't it?!?!?!? And it was very nice meeting you, Scott! I'll try to get some time tomorrow to write up my thoughts about it. It's been a very busy weekend!!

Here's a song list from the Mercy's Mark/Dixie Echoes concert. When I get my review done, I'll post it in my blog and let y'all know -- in case anyone's interested!

Choir - Victory In Jesus, When We All Get To Heaven

Steel City Quartet - How Great Thou Art, My Child Enter In, Ten Thousand Years, Heavenly Parade, Give The World A Smile (piano solo first and then quartet on the chorus), Just A Little Talk With Jesus, We Shall See Jesus

Tim Lovelace - Everything That Won't Be There, a song about his daughter and the Mason/Dixon line, harmonica solo, I'll Fly Away (backwards!)

Dixie Echoes - Welcome Home My Child, It Will Be Heaven For Me, Let's All Go Up to the House of the Lord, New Born Feeling, Everywhere I Go, Stewart Varnedo piano solo (I only wrote down "Just a Little to . . can anybody finish it for me??), Roll Away, When I've Gone the Last Mile of the Way, Little Is Much

Mercy's Mark -Where Is God, We Shall See Heaven Some Day, When It All Starts Happening, Prayer Will Take Heaven By Storm, All I Need to Know, Life Will Be Sweeter Some Day, Moving Up to Glory Land, Somebody Touched Me, Midnight Cry.

Second part of the program:

Steel City - Glory Train, God Promised to Lead

Tim Lovelace - It's Not Easy When You Stutter, Would Your Church Be Open If You Had The Only Key

Dixie Echoes - Oh Brother Noah, The Devil and His Old Suitcase, Oh What A Savior

Mercy's Mark - No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus, He Loves Me, Jesus Loves Me, God Is So Good, I Surrender All

All of the performers and the choir - I'll Fly Away

It sounds good!

And guess what? I am planning on seeing the Dixie Echoes live and in person for the very first time this Thursday!

And I'm planning on bringing a signed copy of my book to give to Stewart Varnado. (That's a perk of writing a quote for the cover! )

I saw the Kingdom Heirs today. Based on the four songs they sang from their new CD, I think it is fabulous.

I always forget how great Arthur Rice sings until I hear him again.

If you saw the Kingdom Heirs today, does that mean that maybe you ate at T's BBQ and Grill?

Afraid not, I left Mrs. Kerrlaw and the kids, watched the Kingdom Heirs, and left to take my parents to the doctor.

They took in the rest of the park and met me at home later.

I know where Tony's is.

But, when I go to Dolly World, I take the back route through Chestnut Hill.

No, he sent me a quote for the cover, and when a celebrity does that I take it in lieu of . I approached a couple SG personalities, several of whom expressed interest, but Stewart is the only one who actually did it.

I think that might help me if I'm trying to sell copies at NQC.

I have a question about concerts. If you attend something like L5's Labor Day celebration (and I have reservations for it) how many concerts does that count as? I know they are scheduled to have four separate shows that weekend with several acts in each show. Would it be four concerts because of four separate shows or just one big weekend-long concert?
