Anthony Burger came to play for The Kingsmen when he was about seventeen years old and Cody 's style reminds me a lot of him. He is great. I know it is expensive to have a band but The Kingsmen have always been known for their band. It's great to see them with a piano player again .

Hey, I saw those shows too.

I think I heard Tim say: "Who's that handsome guy with Billboy".

I thought he said something about wondering how Kerrlaw & Billboy found 2 such good-looking babes to go around Dollywood with.

That, and "where's the popcorn?"

Because of my forced bed rest, I didn't get to the Mull concert on August 1, but Mrs. Kerrlaw and a friend enjoyed it.

Appearing were the Roarks, the Crist Family, Gold City (with Tim Riley), and Michael Combs (Mrs. K's favorite).

Mrs. Kerrlaw purchased everything the Roarks ever recorded for $39.00. She had six CDs, 2 DVDs, and a cassette.

Shane Roark is on of the best singers we have heard and I am sure we will be enjoying the music.

How fortunate; I would love to go to a Squire Parsons concert. I have several of his CDs and they are among my favorites.

On August first we went to see the Inspirations in Malden, Missouri and received such a blessing! This was the first time we had the privilege of hearing Dallas Rogers and David Ragan with them, and we were VERY impressed! These guys are a perfect match for the Inspirations.

The night started with two opening groups, Heart to Heart and the Rivermen Quartet. Each sang four songs before the Inspirations came on. Heart to Heart is a husband and wife duo, they sang a hymn, the Booth Brothers “He Saw It All” and honored our Veterans. They brought an American flag to the front of the stage and had everyone stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance. The Rivermen, a local mixed quartet, sang all older quartet songs like “I’m Feeling Fine”, “Hide Thou Me” and “The Sweetest Song I Know”.

The Inspirations took the stage starting the night off with the classic “When I Wake Up To Sleep No More”. This song was encored twice and the energy these guys had on stage was very evident . . . They were ready to sing! Their next song was Melton’s solo, How Great It Is, he sang this song with such passion, he had the audience on the edge of their seats. He was putting his all into it! Then they did an older song I’m sure some of you remember called Jesus Is Mine. While they held the last note, Dallas went so high I wondered how the people on the front row didn’t have their glasses crack! He has a really great range for a young tenor. Dallas’s solo, Dealing With Gold, is a song off of their new CD. He was so happy as he sang, I don’t think his smile ever left his face for a second the entire evening! They also sang Thinking More And More About Heaven. After that, it was time for Mike’s solo, If You Only Knew. Next, Martin came and introduced everyone. He teased Melton about being their “Campbell’s Soup Man” and Dallas about being the “Cowboy” of the group. The crowd really was into their song I’m Bound For That City, and so were the guys! They all sang with such enthusiasm it was a joy to watch. On The Rose, they received a standing ovation, and of course they encored it! Then Martin came up and introduced their last song of the first set - “The Son Came Down” - he was so excited about this song! He spoke for a minute on how America was founded on God and now the kids can’t even pray in school and all the places where our nation’s leaders have taken God out . . . But, he reminded us with the last words of the chorus of this song, that as Christians, “Nothing on earth can take Him from us”!!!!!! David came and sang The Son Came Down, during which, Martin would stop playing the piano and get up and walk around the stage engaging the audience. At the end of the song he told David to sing the chorus again and the last two lines four times, then he told the audience to sing along with them. This part they did accapella and still sounded great! The crowd gave this one a standing ovation. It was clear that this song impacted its listeners greatly.

Now I do need to mention that the second half began with Heart to Heart singing two songs, of which, everyone enjoyed - even the Inspirations. As the floor of the stage was at eye level, it was hard not to notice all the “dancing” going on behind the curtain! If you can imagine seeing several pairs of black shoes thoroughly enjoying themselves back there! My favorite was seeing the moon walking!!!! J

The Inspirations kicked the second half off with Touring That City. When that song was finished Martin got up and said, “Now we are going to have Mike sing down there (pointing at the end of the piano) - he is going to sing three notes from the bottom, (everyone claps) that’s two white ones and a black one”. (Everyone laughs.) So Martin sat down on the piano bench and started playing Hide Me, Rock Of Ages, and Mike stands there with his hands folded like he’s praying and looking up at the ceiling. The other guys look at Mike, then they look at the ceiling, then they look at each other and shrug their shoulders as if to say, “don’t know what he’s looking at”, and start singing. When they get to the part where Mike gets ready to go real low, Melton says, “come on Mike” in a chipmunk voice that sends the audience and Mike rolling in laughter. When Mike stops laughing he says, “part time insurance salesman” - which prompts Melton to say, (in his chipmunk voice) “Aflac!!” Which makes the crowd and Mike laugh again. Finally, Mike gets his composure and hits his note (everyone claps) and Melton quacks like a duck. (Which makes everyone laugh again.) The next number was Two Shoes, featuring Dallas - the audience really liked that one. Then Martin had Jack Laws come out and sing He’s My Best Friend. Martin introduced him as the Bear Hunter and the Bear Hunter Trio! (David and Melton sang with him also.) After that, they sang I’ve Got More To Go To Heaven For. I Have Not Forgotten was next, David did an awesome job on this song. Then they closed out the evening with I’m Not Ashamed. They didn’t even get through the first verse and the whole auditorium was on there feet!

To sum it up - the Inspirations were AWESOME!!!! That night those guys were on fire! They were so passionate about Who and what they were singing about. We had a great time there and can’t wait to see the Inspirations again!

We had the privilege of going to the Brumley Sing in Lebanon, Missouri, last week for the very first time. We really enjoyed ourselves at this well known sing and we are still on a “concert high.”

Thursday night started off with all of the groups on stage singing “I’ll Fly Away” and “He Set Me Free.” Bob Brumley sang the classic “I’m Bound For That City,” then the first group was introduced and started singing.

The first group on stage was the legendary Kingsmen Quartet. They had the crowd clapping on their first song “Traveling Home” and kept the energy going with “Sound From The Other Side.” Everyone recognized their next song “When I Wake Up To Sleep No More,” a Kingsmen classic. Bryan gave a quick introduction of each member, then Cody played his piano solo, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” for which he received a standing ovation! Bryan went on to give him a hard time saying, “Now the test of a true quartet piano player is four vocals and a piano . . . .” to which they sang “When They Call My Name” for Cody’s “test” - and from the way the crowd responded, I’d say he passed!!! Phil’s solo, “Gospel Road,“ was next. Then they sang their song that was voted in the top five for song of the year by the Singing News Fans - “When God Ran.” They closed their first set with another well known Kingsmen favorite, "Stand Up." They had the audience say “stand up” with them - the song had everyone in the Civic Center on their feet the entire time.

Next on stage was Jeff and Sheri Easter. They opened their set with “Life Is Great And Getting’ Better.” This was the first time I had the chance to see them since Morgan started singing with them, so that was a treat. They sang their well known song “Over And Over,” then Sheri talked about her battle with breast cancer and did a song she wrote for one of her friends. Jeff sang “Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me” and had Morgan take the second verse. Then they ended their set with Morgan’s solo, a song called “Time For Me To Fly.”

The third group on stage was The Lesters. They sang an old Gold City song some of you might remember from their “Standing In The Gap” project called “Surely Goodness And Mercy.” They had their five year old granddaughter come out on stage and sing a song they introduced as “That’s The Truth.” Since I’m not familiar with their music, it was hard for me to guess the song title’s for what they sang, they did more than this, but I can’t tell you what the songs were called! So no offence to the Lester fans out there!

Tim Lovelace was our comedy act for the night. He had everyone laughing at his jokes and acts. His facial expressions are priceless. He sang the song he wrote called “Don’t Sit In My Pew.” He was wearing a yellow shirt, an orange jacket, and orange checkered plaid pants! When a lady went to the front of the stage to take a picture of him, he raised up one leg and pointed to his pants, making a silly face. (You would have just had to have been there!) He had the projector put some pictures of “home” on the viewing screens. They were so funny I don’t think I could possibly explain them! He played a song on the piano and harmonica. Then he tried to get the audience to sing I’ll Fly Away backwards with him, making it Away Fly I’ll!!!!! He put on a great performance!

The Whisnants were the next ones on the line up for the evening. They started with a song called “Even In The Valley.” Then they sang their radio single “Be Not Afraid.” Once again, I had the disadvantage of not being familiar with the group and not knowing their songs. They sang with a lot of passion and were very enjoyable. On their last song, the Booth Brothers came out on stage and sang with them ~ everyone seemed to really enjoy that!

The last group for the evening was, of course, the Booth Brothers. They kicked off their time with “Love Is In The Room” (I think). Then Michael sang “Look For Me At Jesus Feet.“ Eric Olis from the Whisnants played piano for the Booth Brothers on this set and Michael did his share of picking on him. I was amazed how Eric could concentrate on playing every time Michael would go over to the grand and hit a random key or two!!! The next songs on their list were “I’m Feelin’ Fine”, “He Came To Me” and “He Saw It All.” Then they closed their set with the Imperials classic song “Sail On.” On their last song they had Brandon Reese (of the Kingsmen) come up and play drums for them.

The Kingsmen came up for round two, singing their new radio single, “The Word“ followed by “Meet Me At The Table.” Harold received a standing ovation for the classic “Scars In The Hands Of Jesus.” Their last song, “Beautiful Home,” also received a standing ovation. The audience was really into the Kingsmen! They received the most standing ovations from the audience that night.

I didn’t stay to hear the rest of the groups get up for their second sets. I needed some time to stretch my legs after a couple of hours of sitting!!! I did get to see Michael Booth sing his current radio song on one of the screens in the concession area while I was eating my “midnight snack”!!! The Kingsmen seemed to be the best received group of the evening, with several standing ovations from this crowd. The only other group the crowd responded to was the Booth Brothers. We didn’t get out and back to our hotel until midnight - it was a great evening of Southern Gospel Music!!!!

P.S. I’ll get some pics on my photobucket account for you guys to look at as soon as I sort through them all!

Does that mean Michael is back? We are scheduled to see them tonight and was curious if he had indeed returned from his much needed rest.

Brian Free and Assurance was Saturday evening, tonight is Booth Brothers, and tomorrow night is Ivan Parker. What a wonderful, blessed week! (And lots of great food also! LOL!!!)

Okay, here is part two of the Brumley Sing! We didn’t get to attend Friday night, (which I heard went to 1:00 am in the morning!!!), but we were able to make it on Saturday for the big finale. Once again, we had a wonderful night listening to a great line up of artists. The line up included: The Blackwood Brothers, The Dixie Echoes, The Mark Trammell Trio, The Dove Brothers, Aaron Wilburn, The Perry’s and Legacy Five.

First on stage were the Blackwood Brothers quartet. They sang with just a piano track until their baritone played piano on a few songs. They started with How Is Your Heart and went into Have You Talked To The Man Upstairs and He Touched Me. Their set was all the old classics, a few others they did were Jesus Is Coming Soon, I’m Feeling Fine, This Old House, and The Lighthouse. Their baritone played piano for them on a few songs and also played a solo. I honestly can’t tell you what song he played for his solo, he was playing so many licks and fills it wasn’t possible to distinguish the melody. Their last song was Jimmy Blackwood’s solo, It Is Well With My Soul. Now, I just want to add, so you’ll take note when you look at the pics … on the way home we were trying to figure out what it was that the Blackwoods reminded us of. Now look at the pics, I’m sure even they would agree - with the double-breasted, pin-striped suits and the big white ties, they sure looked like a bunch of 1920’s mobsters! LOL!!! All that they needed were the hats!

Next on stage was Florida’s Dixie Echoes. They opened their set with I’ll Be Ready To Go With Him, and their second song was Miracles Will Happen On That Day. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Randy sing an old Cathedral song titled Plan Of Salvation. I’ve never heard anyone else sing that song before and they did an excellent job! I think the song they sang after that one is called Until You Find The Lord, which was their baritone’s solo. It truly is a beautiful song with a great message, we need more songs like that in Southern Gospel! Continuing on, they featured their tenor on the old song Walk With Me, and went into a toe-tappin’ quartet song called Go Up To The House Of The Lord. Next was The Devil And His Ole’ Suitcase - they had some fun on this one. After they went through the song one time “normally”, Randy went on to do an encore by holding an extremely long note (a pretty high one too). When he hit the high note their tenor rolled his eyes, so Randy said, “come on over here sister and help me out!” Reluctantly, the tenor stepped up to the microphone - then out of nowhere Steward hits this really loud chord on the piano! So Randy sings a short and loud staccato note - and Stewart hits the same chord on the piano. Randy starts singing his staccato note faster and Steward starts playing faster. Then Randy walked over to the piano and let out a nice, smooth note - to which Stewart played a very quiet arpeggio. When Randy got the idea that Stewart was doing whatever he was, he would take the song into a faster tempo. Some of Stewart’s expressions had the audience rolling in laughter. After that, their bass singer was featured on How Great Is God, and Randy closed the set with Little Is Much When God Is In It.

The third group on the line up for the evening was The Mark Trammell Trio. They kicked off their set with a song off of their “Always Have A Song” CD called I Know That I Know. He’ll Come Again Someday was their second song, and Dustin Sweatman did a great job on his solo What Good Would A Crown Be (written by Rodney Griffin). Mark then introduced each member of the group. He said their new tenor, Joel, had been on the road with them for five weeks. Their next song was When They Ring The Bells Of Heaven. Mark received a standing ovation for his solo How Great Thou Art. The next two songs were also off of their “Always Have A Song” CD. One was Coming Out And Moving In and the other was their current radio single Loving The Lamb - which made it to #4 on the Singing News Charts! Loving The Lamb also received a standing ovation. At this point, Mark asked Joel if he was ready to sing his solo. He said Joel had not sang this song live in concert yet, so he gave Joel some advice, saying, “I’ve been singing for thirty five years to these people, and if you try your best, they will love you”. . . so with that Joel sang Safe On The Glory Side. The second the audience heard the first line of the song, everyone gave him an applause. Joel did a great job on that song and we loved it!

While Aaron Wilburn came on stage we went for a walk to stretch our legs. That’s the only bad thing about going to a Sing that doesn’t have an intermission - you end up missing a group here and there. When we came back in the Perry’s were on stage and their pianist Bryan Elliot was playing his piano solo. We were able to hear the last couple of songs on the Perry’s set. It was nice to see Libbi sing The Potter Knows The Clay live. We were also able to see them do the old Happy Goodman song Living In Canaan Land. They closed their set with a super song Joseph wrote about the Resurrection. It received a well deserved standing ovation! Very powerful - GREAT job Joseph!!!

The Dove Brothers were next on the line up. They opened their set with When The Church Is Called Away. (Here again, I’m at a disadvantage because they sang a lot of songs I’m not familiar with, so on some of these titles - I’m guessing!) Their second song, I’m not sure of the title, but the chorus had these words, “the battles not mine, I give it to You, oh Lord it’s Thine.” Song number three was He’s Gonnna’ Smile On Me, and I Don’t Know My Way Back To Egypt’s Bondage followed. Their next song was a slow ballad, Sure Could Use A Little Good News Today. After that, they sang one off of their new project that McCray Dove wrote called Hold On. It had a country sound and everyone laughed when McCray said, “Sounds like something George Jones would record doesn’t it? . . . I wish he would have, … because I wrote it!” Then they sang another upbeat song called When I Wake Up In The Morning One Of These Days. McCray introduced their next song as Jerry Martin’s solo, I Can Pray. It was so good to see that song performed live again! It was great! They ended their set with a very energetic Get Away Jordan! It received a standing ovation and they encored it.

Brumley saved the best for last! (IMO of course) The group that closed the night out was Legacy Five! They opened their set with What A Friend We Have In Jesus, then went into a number one song they brought back to their concert set, I Found Grace. All the guys were really wound up that night! I’ve never seen Glenn so into it! It was great! At the Brumley Sing there is this huge American flag that hangs on the wall behind the stage - Scott said he had asked around, and in his words, “no one has done this yet this week, and we are going to!” - They sang ….. Drum roll please …… The Star Spangled Banner! Everyone rose to their feet and put their hand over their heart in honor of our nation’s flag. L5 put their heart and soul into it. It was very moving. After that, they sang the old Cathedrals song Life Will Be Sweeter Someday. I was so happy I had the chance to see them sing that! While Tim played his piano solo, there was a photographer there who took his picture . . .after she took a “normal” pic, Scott went over and did the “bunny ears” thing behind Tim’s head and I’m sure the lady got that shot on her camera! I would love to see that picture, but at the same time, poor Tim! Glenn’s solo was the next number, he sang Roll On. Scott told the story about the church in Florida and they sang There’s Something About That Name, followed by their closing song, Truth Is Marching On.

For the grand finale, all the groups came up on stage and sang a song, except for L5 - I don’t know where they ran off to! LOL The Dove Brothers sang Didn’t It Rain and Libbi Stuffle sang Nothing For My Journey Now. Tracy Stuffle wasn’t on stage, so the Dove’s bass singer, David Hester, sang the bass part for them. The Dixie Echoes had their baritone sing Old Fashion Meeting - when he came to the line that says “with some old fashion people” he managed to add “like Mark Trammell”. (Well, at eleven o’clock at night, stuff like that is really funny!!! I guess you would just had to have been there!) Then, the Mark Trammell Trio sang I’m Going Home - with Mark Trammell playing the bass guitar and Dustin on the piano. That finished the night off - and I would add some more, but since this is so terribly long, I’ll close!

The above might give you some insight into some of the pics I have posted from the Brumley Sing! Enjoy! Brumley Sing Pictures

Saw the Kingsmen in Pottsboro Tx. They where great as usual. the only disapointment of the night was there was not any young people at the concert. The average age was anywhere from 65 to 75 a few was in their 50's I'm 42 so we were on the low side. I think I seen two or three that might have been in there 20's. I have said this before southern gospel is a dying industry.

Well I dont think it is a "dying" industry but rather one that has proven the test of time and will always be around. Granted there have been many changes over the years but as long as people will come and fill the seats SG artists will be there to sing

My brother and I attended a benefit concert on Aug. 4 in Rector, Ar. This was a fantastic event featuring Guy Penrod in his first solo appearance, Dailey & Vincent and the Isaacs. Here is a review of the concert and does it far more justice than I could ever do. Great read. Enjoy!

I think we're the generation the LORD was talking about that would NOT ALL PASS AWAY before all these things were done. I don't see it as a problem if God is speaking to another generation or to different ethnic groups with different music. It's all good as long as Jesus gets the praise and the believers are exhorted and encouraged.

This weekend I had the opportunity to see Spoken 4. It was really nice to see them perform some of the new songs off of their “He Knows Your Address” Cd! Spoken 4 started their set with the new radio single and title song of their new CD, He Knows Your Address. Jon Taggart has the lead on this song, and he was certainly the star of the show. He showed a great amount of passion for what he was doing. Many times throughout the concert, I saw him making eye contact with people in the audience. Their second song they introduced as an “old one ya’ll should know” - it was Victory Road, also a song on their new Cd. They sure got the crowd clapping on that one! Next, was the classic I’ll Fly Away, which they sang with just the piano. (They were “trying out” a new pianist by the name of Ryan Carter from Louisiana). Jeremy did a solo titled When He Set Me Free (another song off of He Knows Your Address.) Then they featured Cecil on Beautiful Life, which as comedy would have it, not the tenor’s favorite song. At the end of the song ,Thomas (tenor) says, “Ya’ll are too easily impressed. Now I don’t really care for bass singin’, but if he’s gonna’ sing, I want to hear him go low!” He turns to Ryan and says, “I know you’re new, but I think you had that in the wrong key - how ‘bout we lower it?!” (Everyone claps.) As the pianist kept going lower on the keyboard, he kept eye contact with Thomas, watching for approval of a good key. Thomas kept pointing lower and Cecil finally said, “Hey, I think that’s low enough!” I can’t tell you what note Cecil hit, but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know it was LOW! Then Jon introduced each member, including Ryan, and had him play a piano solo. He played Anthony Burger’s arrangement of Goodbye, World, Goodbye. After that, Jon stepped forward and asked how many Veterans we had in the audience, and went on to say that Spoken 4 wanted to honor them with the next two songs. He made a point to say that the only reason we live in a free country is because of their sacrifices and that they don’t get enough thanks. (Anyone who knows Jon knows how heart-felt those statements are!) Then Jon went into singing That’s My Boy, a true story of a son who went to fight in Iraq. Jon’s wife, Amanda, wrote the last verse of the song - and it hit’s home! Spoken 4 also sang God Bless The USA, for which they received a standing ovation. Jeremy’s solo, Wish We’d All Been Ready, is another single off of the He Knows Your Address Cd and is having a real impact on audiences. When he sang the line about “the man and wife lying in bed, she hears a noise, she turns her head, he’s gone ….. “ one lady in the audience shared afterwards that when she heard that line, she wasn’t sure she was going to be able to stay in her seat until the concert was over! She KNEW right then and there, she needed to trust in Christ as her personal Savior!!!! Can I get an amen to that?! What a wonderful way to end the night!

I had an opportunity to see the Inspirations. Wow. They were fabulous!
Dallas and David are dynamic with the group! If you haven't seen the Inspirations lately, go see them. I was amazed at the amount of energy and interaction on-stage. Melton and Mike are just super. Even though they sing with just an upright bass and piano, they are awesome. I'm always amazed when Martin stops playing and you don't even realize it until you see him walking around behind the guys or on the side encouraging them because there is so much going on between the guys to hold your attention. Most of their songs are medium and up tempo too. Their faces just radiate with joy as they sing. They are giving it their all. This line-up has a lot to offer and gives an excellent concert. Many great songs on their new Cd too.

We live in Northern VA and so we don't get many SG groups that come thru this area. So whenever one does, especially a male quartet, we jump at the chance to go see them. Friday evening my wife, my dad, and I got to see the Dove Brothers. It had been a number of years since I had seen them last, and they were awesome. They sang a bunch of songs off their new album, Hold On. My wife leaned over to me during one of the songs and said, "We need to buy this album. I like these songs." So we did. :-) I think she especially liked the Oak Ridge Boys song that they did - He's Gonna Smile On Me. She remembers when she was just a girl, listening to the Oaks singing that song on a record.

Btw, why don't Jerry Martin and David Hester get more recognition than they do? They can hit the high notes (Jerry) and the loooow notes (David), without even trying. It's just wrong. And I will go so far as to say that the Dove Brothers as a whole don't get the recognition that they deserve. Although I did see that McCray was nominated for Favorite Lead Singer this year. But I guess fan awards aren't the only measure of how good a quartet is or what an impact they have for Jesus. Anyway.....

I went to Iola, Kansas this weekend to see the Greater Vision/Booth Brothers/Legacy Five "Jubilee" premier concerts (we went to 2 out of the 3 concerts and a LOT of people went to 3 out of the 3 concerts!!). It was FANTASTIC! The guys had so much fun at these concerts, and all three concerts were SOLD OUT! Gerald Wolfe and Scott Fowler did the "emceeing" and what a great duo they are! All the men were just awesome and the way the groups were mixed and matched was outstanding! I love the CD, but after watching them present it, I love it even more. When I listen to the CD I can "see" them singing it in my mind. There was lots of "cutting up" and it was so much fun watching them play around and sing together!

The three groups are going to get back together this coming Sunday at the Legacy Five/Labor Day Celebration event to record a live DVD. They said they'll get it released just as soon as possible. For those of you that like the Greater Vision/Legacy Five "Live At the Palace" DVD, this one will be even better!!!! I can't wait!

Right on. The DB's are one of my favorites.

Okay guys! Here is the review you have all been waiting for!!!! L5 at the First Baptist Church of the Refrigerator in Popular Bluff, Missouri!!!! LOL! (Sorry guys, I couldn’t help myself). Just in case you don’t believe me, listen to this . . . I walk down to the front of the church to find a seat. There were three sections of pews in the church, and for some reason, the only one that wasn’t “reserved” was the one in the middle. There were two men sitting there “guarding” their seats and had purses and things marking the spots next to them. I went over and asked if it was possible for just one person to squeeze on the end, (which there was plenty of room, no squeezing needed) . . . The one man said, “Oh yeah, go ahead - I was just saving a seat for Mr. and Mrs. Freeman,” speaking to me as if I knew who they were. That man had no idea that I DID NOT ATTEND THEIR CHURCH REGULARLY!!!!!! Then, when his wife came to sit down, she looked at me, …. glared, and loudly asked her husband, “Are you sure you have enough room for the Freeman’s?” (BTW - the Freeman’s never showed up that evening!!!) But, I did get to keep my front row seat!

Legacy Five opened the night with their calming rendition of What A Friend, then stirred the audience up with Heavenly Signs. Strike Up The Band followed, then Scott acknowledged the anniversary of a couple who was married in the basement of the church 45 years ago! (What a sweet way to celebrate your anniversary!) Scott went on to say how he was able to listen to their sermon from last Sunday when he checked into the hotel the night before, and he came to the conclusion (now, how many of you can guess what I’m going to say?) . . . That they are NOT politically correct! He told the story about the church in Florida, and as he told about each “policy” the audience gave the biggest “oooh’s”! It was great! Howie’s solo was That’s What Grace Is For - I have never heard him sing that one live before, and I loved it! Scott pointed out two men sitting five rows back who use to sing with the quartet his dad sang in. They brought Scott some CD’s they had converted from Albums that had his dad singing on them. Then, L5 sang the old number I’m Feeling Fine. They sure were into that song! Scott said that he had driven by that particular church thousands of times, but never had been inside it until that night. Glenn was featured on Roll On, followed by Tim’s piano solo, In My Heart There Rings A Melody. As Scott was introducing Tim, he said that there was a lady there from Greenwood, Mississippi, who noticed that Tim’s feet moved faster than his fingers! She brought a pedometer with her and had him wear it to see how many times he tapped his foot! After his solo, Howie said, “From the waste up was ‘Baptist’ piano playin‘, but from the waist down was Pentecostal!” Glenn so casually added in his deep, low drawl, “Makes me want to put my hair up in a bun.” Howie quickly responded to Glenn, “You will have to wash your make-up off first!” Oh, they were in a mood to get some laughs! Scott gathered them all around the piano (Tim was playing on a grand!) to sing The Prettiest Flowers - to which they received a standing ovation! (Well, the people who did not go to this church stood!) Frank was giving Scott and Howie a hard time about how all the old songs are centered around the tenor and the bass. Howie said, “Yeah, that’s how it always is with the freaks of nature. You go to the Zoo, and where are the most people? - at the monkey house! …. We’re the leftovers.” Frank continues, “No, no. Glenn and I are the bookends and you guys are in the middle.” Then he turns to the audience and says, “Have you ever had a good baloney sandwich (points to Howie) without the baloney?” Scott responded, “Well, …. I guess that’s a complement!” On the next song, The New Jerusalem Way, they received another standing ovation!!! That’s two in a row! They were so into those two songs too! Especially Frank and Howie. Then they did the old Cathedral song, Life Will Be Sweeter Someday. They sang with just the piano and when they came to the part where they suddenly stop, Frank said, “You could hear a pin drop.” Truly, you could - they had the audience captivated and hanging on their every word! Next, Scott took his Bible out and told us about the program on Discovery. He read the Resurrection out of the Bible and L5 sang There’s Something About That Name. Frank brought the house down with Holy Is Thy Name. He sang it with such power! Another standing ovation!

At the break, during the offering, Tim played another piano solo. Then L5 came back and started singing some of their requests. The first was I Found Grace - what power they sang it with! Scott sang Why Wouldn’t I, followed by Right Side Of The Dirt . . . Howie and Glenn were really having fun on that one! They pretended to have a bad back and would take a step and hobble on purpose. Scott then told the story about his boys and the TV at Christmas time, which led into God’s Been Good. They finished the night off with I Go To The Rock . . . .another standing ovation!!!!!

The concert was awesome! The guys were so on fire for what they were singing about! (And they still had the appropriate times where they would joke around). What really surprised me was the audience! You could tell who went to the church and who just came for the concert. (The ones who clapped and laughed where the outsiders!) And I will say, much to their shame, there were several who walked in and were very vocal about finding someone else sitting in “their seat.” Didn’t make for a very welcoming atmosphere. Even though the crowd wasn‘t very responsive, they still received FOUR standing ovations that night! And let me tell ya, we had church! Scott did some awesome, heartfelt preachin’ that night which combined with the powerful singing made for one outstanding concert! Now, the evening wouldn’t be complete without revealing what the pedometer reading was. Tim tapped his foot at total of 5,778 times that evening! Whoa! It was a great concert! L5 put their all into it! Thanks guys, for your exceptional music ministry! Keep singing for His glory!!!
