I have seen Gold City many times over the years. I really enjoy the current line up. Even though Jonathon is a good singer I like Bruce's voice better. I do have their newest abum and I do like it but I must admit it is not my favorite Gold City cd.

i saw a video on youtube from a church where Gold City was singing "When He Calls, I'll Fly Away"..and man it was awesome.. Does anyone know if that was part of a concert video? Is there a video availble with that song on it??

If I am thinking of the same video that you are asking about (one with very poor video quality), no, that is not part of a concert video. It was filmed by the church or by someone attending the service.

"When He Calls" is on Volume 2 of Gold City's "20th Anniversary" video/dvd. However, Gold City's online store lists the item as being out of stock. I also searched ebay, but did not see a copy listed.

I saw a version of that same video with much, much better video quality. It's floating around on Youtube somewhere.

yep that's the one.. Too bad. I really think that would have been a great concert.
A little tip about the 20th anniv. cd. You can get Vol. 1 and 2 from amazon via digital download.
I dowloaded a couple songs last night, including "when he calls"...love that song.

I like Gold City, but I must say that I liked them much better with Jonathan in the group. I've only been to one of their concerts, but I got to go to IHOP with them, and they were really sweet guys. I personally like Josh the best...LOL!

My friend took me to the concert, and his pastor's daughter is Phil Cross's wife...so that was the reason we got to eat with them. It was really cool considering that it was my first Southern Gospel concert, even though I've been listening to them forever.

I was surprised they had gone up to $20, too, Bobby. The highest I've seen with any other group was $18. And I don't remember them having a price break unless you buy 3 for $50.00. That's a lot when many groups do 1 for $15, 2 for $25, and 3 for $30 or $35.

Kingsmen sold 4 cds - 2 dvds for $40.00
Tribute - 2 cds - 1 dvd for $20.00 - last show they included Josh's cd in the package 3 cds - 1 dvd for $20.00.
Gold City's cds were $16.99 at Hall of Fame plus with gold card you got 20% off that.
Most of the comments made about Gold City was that they were too loud.
You say how loud were they, not to loud for us, but you could hear them outside the theater when they were singing which is unusual for any group except the Crabb Family.

The Dove Brothers started charging $20 for their CDs at their table back in the Spring. They are actually $23 online, but I'd guess that covers shipping. McCray said he'd not had one person complain about it to him. He said he'd explained his reasoning to many fellow groups, and that after considering his logic, that they indicated that would probably be trying it soon, too. Guess GC was one of those groups.

Did his reasoning include urging people to purchase them at stores?

Joey,

Diesel is what their bus uses and the national average is still $3.25.99 per gallon.

Also people have treated SGM groups the same way "i go for cheapest i can get" in love offerings, long before the recent economic crisis. So I guess it is ok for everything else we buy to raise their prices to cover cost increases, but SGM groups are not allowed to.
