11 weeks apart is pretty tough I think. My wife sometimes is gone on a trip for a few days. Longest was about 10 days. The first day or two, the solitude is actually pretty nice but then I begin missing her about the third and by the end of a week, I'm really missing her company. If you have family or friends in the area, see if you can spend a little more time with them while she is gone.

yeah.... we've spent pretty much the good part of the past year virtually inseparable.... working the same job, same department, same hours, but recently i got a new job so we had 40 hrs a week apart... when she first left, i ordered a pizza, bought a beer, listened to music at a billion decibles, took a trip to the casino to watch old ladies waste money (and of course drink some free pop too), and pretty much did the whole tom cruise 'risky business' thing also.... but then about day 5 i was 'man... this is getting old' and we have to go until novemver 7th, so.... this is gonna be a pretty stinkin long 2 months. thankfully, i get to babysit the cat while shes away i have netflix, and xbox to keep me occupied for a little bit, but nothing beats the company of that person you've grown so fond of. ah well, bed time for bonzo... *puts on sleeping hat*

Two weeks for me, I had to go out of town with work, she couldn't go because we had to kids at home and in school at the time. Hard, yes, but the time did pass, and it was great to get back home. Simway

Only one night, and hopefully never another. I'd love to work at home again and be with her all the time.

My wife died 4 years ago. The loneliness is very bad at times.

I travel for work 10-12 times a year. I've been doing it for the past 10 years and it's hard every single time. I've never been able to shake the homesickness feeling of wanting to be home with her (and my son). She knows I long for her when I'm away but I try not to make it a big deal so she doesn't worry. Unfortunately, it's the only way I can bring home the bacon for now!

..the single people are saying (while waiting) it's a good time to work on their relationship with the Father.. while waiting for Him to bring the right mate, you already have a mate and don't have to wonder... so your waiting situation is looking pretty good.. spend some time with the Father

Took a two-week tour of Ukraine soon after the wall came down, and had a wonderful time of it. Made lasting memories, and made up for two weeks' worth of missed marital intimacy in 24 hours. Also narrowly missed a moral catastrophe. The charming interpreter asks me to walk her to the bus stop -- but intends to get me to her apartment! Strange -- downtown Kiev at midnight felt safer than my own home town same time. Something to be said for living in a police state, when you're walking back to your hotel alone! Seriously, I made a commitment to never again undertake solo missionary adventures. Yes, I'd love to minister in Ukraine again -- but, I told God, it would have to be WITH my family and AT a profit.

What do you mean "AT a profit"? You are talking about Christian missionary work, correct? quote:

Try six years. I simply don't have any sympathy for people moaning and complaining about nonsense such as: "I havent had sex in {insert short time period here}. For the love of Pete, after six years since my ex wife left me, I have simply just given up trying to find someone to date or marry. I have been completely celibate, COMPLETELY. Please don't respond to this response. I simply can't listen to anymore hackneyed, cracker barrel attempts at encouragement, or advice that leads to the same issue again and again. In six years, I have heard it all. I am 36, I don't deserve this isolation and loneliness. Don't respond please.

So it's okay for you to spew a little bile in this thread, but not for us to respond in any way? Your pain is the only pain worthy of consideration, so you cannot be bothered to empathise with that of others because, after all, it could not hope to compare with yours? I didn't heed your request to not respond, which seems a bit unreasonable regarding a post in a discussion forum, but I did refrain from offering encouragement or advice. To contribute to the thread topic: The longest I have been away from my wife was a month. It wasn't too bad for me, though that's a lot of relationship-maintaining time to miss. If I had been 20 years younger and 20 years closer to my wedding date, I, too, would have been climbing the walls. If I were at KiethyHuntington's age, stage of life and marriage, and situation, I would have left the walls for the ceiling by now.

Come now gents. Let us not quarrel about words. It is of no value and only ruins those who listen. For those of us who have experienced the joys of intimacy a marriage can provide, sometimes even a few days can be painful. And, those who have been faithfully celibate, by choice or by force, looking for that special someone, sometimes it feels torturous.

I quit counting after the first year. Why dwell on it? Isn't it perverse in someway to torture yourself? As to the loneliness issue- nobody deserves to be lonely and I never have. I have family and Chiurch Family and the forums and the Lord God. Who could be lonely with all that surrounding him.
