Please pray for me. I have been so angry and confused in recent events and I am in terrible need of some peace. To make a long story short, (well, maybe not so short) I felt God calling me to go back to school for a terminal degree so I could teach at a university. I spent 5 years finishing that degree: five years of 2 hour commutes to school/classes; five years of missing my family, five years of financial, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual challenges. I finished that degree last year and have been in the job search now for two years. This last year everything in my world pointed toward finding a new position. It looked as though God had worked out every detail. We had a buyer for our house, we had two kids that were excited about starting again in a new place, my husband had two possibilities for online positions he could do from home if he didn't find full-time work right away. Three different times I was in the top two candidates for a super position. Three different times I was passed over with the third being just two weeks ago. My spirit is crushed. My confidence in myself has hit a lower spot than I have been in in many years. I cannot understand what God is doing here. As I said, I'm angry, confused, frustrated, discouraged, grieved, and, perhaps most of all, exhausted. Now I and my husband have to start the process all over again. Job searches in academia are a brutal process. Long waits and ups and downs that would make the best roller coasters look like a merry go round. I am really feeling attacked by Satan at my most vulnerable spots. If God truly called me to teach, why has he not provided a position for me to do that? He can do anything so why isn't he? I have spent so much time in prayer about this search and yet I have fallen flat. I don't understand how things can look so promising and then be pushed over the cliff. I am defeated. God help me.

(((Doc))) I will pray. Lord Jesus please provide the job that you want for Doc. Help her to have your peace and help her to understand what direction she needs to go next. Keep her from discouragement and I pray you remove any oppression. Help her self-esteem -- help her to know she is a valuable person that will be used by you in a new position in your time and not to take it to heart--give her Your assurance that you have it all in control and that your timing is perfect. Bring people into her life who will help her to be encouraged and also any contacts she may need that would guide her to the job you have for her. We thank you for all you will do, in Jesus name amen.

Also...I would give yourself a little bit of a break before you start the process over again...but do you think perhaps God may want you to apply at a Christian college? (I am praying for our Alma Mater in Massachusetts...)

Thank you for your prayer Casey. The other side of the story that I didn't share is why we are specifically NOT applying to Christian colleges. First of all, my husband and I both feel we can minister better in a secular school. My husband is also an academic and he currently works for a Christian college. He has been employed there for over a decade. We have seen more people be hurt and abused by the administration in the name of "Christian" standards (including me in my former position there)that we cannot feel good about placing ourselves in that environment again. The prayer and godly counsel we have sought as we planned our search have led us to believe that we would do well in being a strong christian presence on a state school campus where we might have more opportunity to minister to folks who don't know Christ. We have earnestly sought God's will in this and, though I haven't closed my mind to it completely, I was not able to get a peace about the few Christian schools that have my program who advertised for openings last year. Nonetheless, if one comes open this year that I feel would be a good fit for either of us, I will still apply. Thanks for your concern and I appreciate your prayers for us. Doc

Lord, why is it that those of us who call ourselves "Christians" seem to so often be the ones who hurt others of our own creed? What hardens our hearts against our own people, and brings division and hate into our ranks. A house divided will surely fall. Please God, look upon Doc08's former place of employment and show them where they have caused hurt and abuse that damages the good name of Christianity among those in our own faith. Let other Christians, myself included, see the shame and pain that acts of evil against our own people bring about so that we might refrain from such actions, ourselves. God, I also offer Doc08 up to you. Please assist her with her job search. Remove the disheartened spirit inside of her and replace it with one of hope and confidence. Let the torture of the past be removed from her, and allow her to continue to pursue the job of her dreams with trust in both herself and in you, oh Lord! You are great and merciful. Show the mercy to Doc08 and her family and bless her with the position of employment that you desire for her. For we know that you desire what is good for all your children. If you did not, you would never have sacrificed your Son, Jesus Christ, for our sins so that we might be made worthy of your grace and of eternal life. Bless Doc08 and her family, God. Help her through this discouraging time of her's and lead her to a beautiful job she can enjoy and support her family with. And most of all, with this, draw her and her family ever closer to you. I pray this in the name of your Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Oh my friend, I am praying for you.. I can tell you I know what you are going through. When I lost my job last year, I was going on 5 months without a job. I went on a bunch of interviews, and everyone liked me, said I was in the lead and blah blah. Well then I would get the call that I was too experienced or not enough. I just didn't get it, I would nail the interview and get such good feedback, then slam I didn't get the job...I was just done, exhausted, very mad..I finally started to realize that God did not want me to be in control of this, and I just one day said, "ok, I give up, I finally surrender this job search to you and I will not worry anymore." 2 days later, I got a call, went to the interview and got the job on the spot! I knew at that moment, that was God, and I knew God wanted me at this job for a reason. There is a reason for everything and now I know why God didn't want me at any of these other jobs.... I promise, God will put you exactly where he wants you and I pray for many blessings for you! It will happen, just be a little patient and maybe just take a small break from all this right now. I am praying for you! kc

Father, thank You for Doc08 and her husband's desire to seek Your will. Lord, guide them to where You want them to be. Encourage them as they wait on You. Use all this to Your glory, and when they come to the other side of this trial may they have praises for You on they're lips. We love You Lord. In Jesus name. Amen
