Since I own 2 Nikon bodies I voted Nikon, but it's really a matter of personal preference. Both companies make excellent equipment. But if I could afford anything, it'd be a Hasselblad (sp?) with Zeiss lenses. Or I'd settle for a Leica.

I voted neither because a "both are good" category didn't exist.

I think both are good companies and make a good quality product. I would search for product reviews on the web to narrow the field and visit my nearest camera store (not best buy or circuit city) and pick their brains for recommendations. Then once you settle on a model go back online to search for the best deal.
