Good question, but like what... (lol). Would you consider eating watermelon with salt, the old fashioned way? Or am I way off... I could be...

I've always enjoyed real letters, instead of email...something about the handwriting makes it so much more personal. Perhaps because it takes more time.

However, I have never been in that habit...

Honest and Hard work. A concept that has escaped pretty much all our elected officials any more.

Put the old hand crack on the flywheel and turn the engine over until it starts. These newfangled electronic ignition thingies have been the bane of our civilization!

And on that note - What's wrong with a kick starter for motorcycles? Again, those newfangled electronic starter thingies...

I dunno Ben, didja ever try to kick start a hog after it's been sitting for most of a year? That'll make you thank the Lord for those electronic ignition thingies.

I prefer to chop my veggies the old fashioned way, with a knife. You have no control over the size of the pieces when you toss everything into a food processor. Although I will confess that I use my processor to slice taters and onions.

I embarrass my kids the old-fashioned way. - Public displays of affection.

No piercing and tattoos to make my kids blush and run. Hugs and kisses and if I can't grab them, I'll grab PBee - also embarrassing to the chillins.

I like to talk to people on the phone the old fashioned way - with a cord connecting me to the wall. (I do have a cordless, but the battery is always dead on that thing)

Why wouldn't I just throw some slop at it instead of kicking it?

I prefer cooking in cast iron to the no-stick surface pans they have now.

Told Poppa about this thread.

He said he liked doing the dishes the old fashioned way - watching the wife wash them.

Guess what he is doing tonight to make it up to me????

No, not just the dishes, laundry too.

Umm,

I have it in the basement and he was still doing laundry on it for me until I started working. Now we splurge on a trip to the laundry mat.

(no extra water + 8 loads or more = LAUNDRYMAT)

I argue that we spend less than 3 hours every other week and everything is cleaned and folded. Who else can say they spend less than 6 hours a month on laundry for 4? What is your time worth to you?

What time?

Aren't you going to donate that thing to a museum someday?

I like scrubbing the kitchen floor on my hands and knees...fill the water bucket and get a rag and away I go. You get into the corners real nice that way.
I like the old fashion appliances that LAST longer than 5 years.

I love snail mail, doing my bookkeeping without a computer, chopping my own veggies, canning my own pickles and relish, making our own meals (no microwavables here!), raising my own kids, schooling my own kids, raising a garden, etc.......If my health were better....this would be a farm.

pretty interesting thread....

I am 40 years old...but, very "old school"....at my favorite clothing store, they even have "OLD SCHOOL CLOTHING" brand jeans....so, of course, i had to get a pair...and a t-shirt....cause in many ways I am "old school"....

• i prefer watching baseball in the daytime over and above any sport (Detroit Tigers...even though i now live in Texas)

• i read the newspaper...the real "paper" edition (especially the Sunday Dallas Morning News....my Sunday isn't complete without it)

• i like listening to RECORDS. As someone who grew up in Detroit, I got into collecting Motown records (Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, etc..etc..)....while I do have alot of the music on CD, it just sounds better coming from the vinyl record.

• The last NEW music I bought was on CDs...a boxed set of 4 Louis Armstrong CDs....original recordings of jazz music (Louis Armstrong's "Hot Five" and "Hot Seven" bands) recorded 1925-1929

• I take the time, when going on vactaion, to take the "scenic"/off-the beaten path route instead of the "direct" freeway route. (Route 281 from North Texas to San Antonio is awesome...beats Interstate 35 by a longshot!)...http://www.ushwy281.org/

OH....and I make money the old fashioned way.....I EARN IT! (remember the Smith-Barney commercials anyone?)

That's all I can think of for now....iam sure there's more.

I'm with you all the way on that one, friend! I need at least 8 hours of sleep, and I'm still sleepy when I wake up! I have to get up at 6 on weekdays to go to work, and I feel like I've slept in if I get to sleep until 7 on a weekend! I start nodding off at 9:00 every night and my cat Chloe and I crawl into bed around that time and read a book (while I do, the cat doesn't!) and then I turn off the light and go to sleep and my hubby usually falls asleep in front of the boob tube and then wakes up and joins me later, LOL.

I guess there are few other things I like to do the old fashioned way, I've become too spoiled with all these new-fangled doo-hickies we have now!
