When golf balls were first manufactured, their covers were smooth. Golfers soon discovered that after a ball had been roughed up a bit they were able to get more distance out of it. Manufacturers then began producing golf balls with dimpled covers. Life is a lot like that. It takes some rough spots to make us go our farthest. It takes some storms to teach us that God is faithful and will provide the strength to stand firm.

I learned that I need to trust God, and to lean on Him without running from the storms ... because in running from them I learned that I would just run into them again from another angle.
There are so many storms, and I have accepted the fact that there will be many more. I have also learned to recognize them quicker and seek Him quicker and ask Him what He wants me to learn each step of the way.

I have found it works best to (as the Imperials put it) "keep your compass set on the Son", for ONLY He sees the full picture.

I have lost a home, my adorable dog who had to be put down, jobs because of the recession and downsizing, but I am in a better place now in my life which I was convinced would never, ever happen. I learned that God really does care for me. I learned that I'm not being punished for something I had done and I got a better understanding of
Matt.16:24-27. Oh, so that is what He was talking about. I learned (once again) that all things really are possible with God. And one big lesson I learned is never let my possessions become as gods to me. I was so busy running the rat race and trying to keep up with the neighbors and it really never amounted to a hill of beans in the long-range view. I think I am wiser now and stronger for the torment I endured. I have all that I need and Iam more focused on God than I have been in a long time. He did manage to get my attention.
