I just copied and pasted some questions asked by an interviewer, and the answers of the interviewee. With Biblical perspective, are the answers to these questions coming from a bonafide Christ follower? By the way I won't disclose who's being interviewed. Q. “Who's Jesus to you?” A. “Right (laughs nervously). Jesus is an historical figure for me, and he's also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher. And he's also a wonderful teacher. I think it's important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history.” Q. “Do you believe in heaven?” A. “Do I believe in the harps and clouds and wings?” Q. “A place spiritually you go to after you die?” A. “What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded. I don't presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die. But I feel very strongly that whether the reward is in the here and now or in the hereafter, the aligning myself to my faith and my values is a good thing.” Q. “What is sin?” A. “Being out of alignment with my values.” **Edited to add: The interviewee has claimed to be a Christian. I don't know about any of you, but after I read this person's answers, I felt a bit sick to my stomach. But that's just me. ***Another edit: I forgot to vote.

This could be any one of so many public figures. I have a hard time seeing him or her as a Christ follower when it seems so obvious that they have no clue where they're going. If they sincerely consider themselves a follower or Christ, apparently nobody has clearly explained to them what that means.

I'm glad your question is framed as what do I 'think'. I do not know this person's heart. But I have voted 'no' as that is what I 'think'. I will begin by addressing this person's response to the person of Jesus. Many will say "Lord, Lord" who do NOT know Jesus but I don't think any who DO know Jesus would respond to Him as a 'means' rather than as a person. The 'I' looms large in this response. And as the questions and answers continue, it is evident that 'I' am what is most important---I living MY life well, I will be rewarded, I feel strongly, and aligning MYself to MY faith. . . Jesus put it this way. "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow Me." Mark 8:34 Self denial is the first thing.

My question is why is this posted? Is it to find out where he is at with the Lord and pray for him or is it to gossip? It's really none of our business where he is with the Lord. That's His business. Now God does what us to pray for him and trust God to help him, but not sit here and judge someone by a few lines. Just my thoughts.

Why is it that Dancre got in first and said what was on my mind? I don't know who the person being interviewed is but; I would have thought that any Christian asked "Who is Jesus to you?" would have replied: "The Son of God".

I think the Q&A also serves as a reminder to us how we might answer questions when asked. Are we wussies about it or are we bold about it? Do people see that we are followers of Christ by our answers/actions, or are we just a bunch of empty words/rituals?

FYI, this question/thread is acceptable on our forums. If it weren't, almost the entire "Church" folder would have to be deleted. Further posts questioning whether it's appropriate will be considered disruptive. Thanks! Tricia Forums Moderator Please do not reply to this message within the forums or chat. Has to be Obama, and i didn't google. quote:

Actually the problem is not the questions, but this is how the person was raised. Like many folks we are taught by our parents and even God has a place for this in his word. Train up a child in the way he should go...... The man is just following what he has been taught. It doesn't appear that anyone has tried to correct that view or sentiment.

I think it's dangerous to base our assumptions on a person's faith based on isolated comments. I'm sure that we have all said things in our lives that, if taken out of context, might paint us in an unfavorable light in terms of our faith. But I agree that this person seems... Off-base, at best, if they claim to be a Christian. They could certainly use our prayers. : )

And I have seen this done to others more often than I care to remember. In looking back at my response, I see I answered in terms of what I 'think' and indeed confessed since I do not know the 'who', I am not speaking specifically of a known individual. Yes, it is indeed dangerous ground when we proceed in our thoughts and actions on such minimal information. I believe this is why Jesus reminded us to use righteous judgment. It was fine to pose the question. It was purely hypothetical (in my mind). But now that others have placed it in a context, perhaps it is time to stop. I do agree.

Wow... I thought this thread had died (as all the other threads I have started have) and cast into oblivion. Anyway, obviously I should just pull the plank out of my own eye first. Moderator, please do delete this thread.

by the answers, it is soooooooo obvious that Jesus/God is not a big priority for the interviewee.
