Does anyone remember the Stoey Family? This group came to our church a couple times in the 1980s, they were from Chambersburg, PA. I was given two LPs from the late 1970s by my former pastor, they were good friends back from there missionary days. They are titled Traveling for Jesus, and At Home with the Stoeys. They were a family, mom, dad, and 3 young kids. The LPs were from that period. I knew them later, maybe 1985-89. Only 3 came as a group, mom, dad and Sam. The girls had gotten married and I remember Sam was all excited that he was going to be Uncle Sam! They were a great family, they led the song portion of Sunday worship. We sang hymns and choruses for at least 30 minutes, it was great! Dad, (Dick Stoey) whistled, you wouldn't expect that would you? Sam played several instruments while Mom (Sue) played the piano. Folks, you have never heard The Old Rugged Cross till you have heard it played on a saw!!! I went to the little Christian school at the same church, we had a short chapel service before school started each morning for the week. And I think I recall an afternoon story time with Mrs. Stoey. Each installment was left with a cliffhanger. If I remember right, my favorite was "The Dead Duck" I loved them back then, and the impression they made on me then is still present today. I had never put 2 and 2 together, but I am sure they would have been considered SG. On one LP, The Thomas Road Baptist Church is mentioned, and I think Fallwell signed his letter on the back cover. If anyone remembers this family, please share your memories. I would love to get any LPs or sheet music they may have offered. The LPs I have are really beat up.
