Q: How should I respond to someone who threatens suicide or abuse?
A: Please report such a threat. Our community is not equipped to sufficiently deal with anyone who threatens suicide or abuse. None of us are professionals, and such individuals do need professional help - we take this very seriously. Thus, we will do everything we can to locate the person so we can put emergency personnel in contact with them.
Q: Why are threats of suicide/abuse hidden from public view?
A: Leaving a suicidal post up for public view allows for a great possibility of him/her receiving inadequate or inappropriate counsel from somebody, which provides serious accountability and liability issues. Again, our site is not equipped to deal with such a serious situation, and it must be referred to professional help.
If you see such a threat, by all means pray for him/her, but please report it to us, so we can inform emergency personnel and get him/her the professional help he/she needs..
